Story
Electra is a ball of attitude and love! she loves to play with peoples feet and be the center of attention! she is very skittish and scared when new people are around, or when she has to go anywhere like the vet. But once she is used to her surroundings she loves to cuddle and play, she is an absolute joy with some issues here and there but with time and energy she’ll ldefinitely become better! we don’t know about kids due to her being so skittish about people, i would recommend she goes to a home that she’s the only dog but she has been with other dogs but sometimes becomes aggressive because of food or not getting enough attention! She’s sassy and will huff and puff just for attention, she loves to be held, dressed up!

Story
******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Florence (Flora), 3 years old, spayed female, Carolina Dog mix, 60 pounds. She is in a foster home in HOUSTON, TEXAS and can transport out of State once an adopter is approved. Florence, affectionately nicknamed, Flora, Flory, Lory, or Sweetpea, is a playful and energetic dog who loves to wrestle and be chased. She would do best in a home with dogs of similar size and energy level. When playing, Flora could play for hours. She loves to interact with another dog in the home, Furman by licking his face. Flora has experience playing with dogs ranging from a 35-pound Cocker Spaniel to a 60-pound Pyrenees mix. Flora requires slow and guided introductions to other dogs. She has shown some leash reactivity, exhibiting behaviors like raised hair, whimpering and barking. Her foster parents have worked with her on this behavior. When she is off leash, she easily makes new friends. Flora’s compatibility with cats is unknown. She adores the 8-year-old child in the home, but is nervous of new children. While she has done well with children aged 6-11, she tends to bark at new kids, especially when they move around quickly. Therefore, Flora is best suited for homes with children aged 10 and older. As mentioned, Flora has some leash reactivity and gets easily spooked, often pulling a lot. However, she has made progress with positive reinforcement and minimal stimuli. She walks much better in calm environments with less activity. Flora is fully housebroken. She has demonstrated some anxiety in the crate at home. When her foster parents have gone out of town she has gone to boarding where she is crated with no issues. At home, she is able to be out of a crate and unsupervised with zero issues. She is fed separately from the other dogs in the home. Otherwise, she shares her toys well and has no issues with people and food, although she needs reminders to take treats gently. Flora has high energy needs and requires dedicated outdoor playtimes to do well inside the home. She thrives in a moderately active home with regular outdoor play sessions. Flora would benefit from having another dog in the home to boost her confidence and match her energy. Flora loves playing with the other dog in the home, enjoys talking, bucking around the yard, eating, going for walks, sunbathing, and birdwatching. She is a total love bug and enjoys snuggling. She does well in the car but is terrified of storms, often seeking shelter in a closet or burying her head in a lap. Flora’s ideal home would be with someone who is often around, enjoys walks or jogs, and will play fetch with her. A home with another dog of similar age, size, and energy level, and possibly a child, would be ideal. Flora needs an owner who will continue positive reinforcement to help with her anxiety. Flora is very smart, loves learning new tricks, and is very submissive and affectionate. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. Story
Scooby is our longest resident, and that’s because he is really not meant to be a shelter dog but has a hard time convincing potential adopters of that. He is a sensitive dog who gets concerned about stressful things in his environment. He has come such a long way with his anxiety and nerves with us in the shelter but what he requires is stability and consistency. He was in a temporary foster for two weeks and during that time he showed so much growth as he finally had a chance to settle in as a house pet. After some decompression, we found he wasn’t destructive, played with toys and puzzles, snuggled up on the couch, and even had some nice car rides (with only a little whining). Even in the shelter he is a gentle, friendly boy who follows commands, waits patiently for volunteers to leash him in his kennel, and is easy to walk. Although sometimes he does get spooked and wants to go back inside. What Scooby needs is someone with patience and a willingness to build trust with him once they bring him home and who can work constructively with him on his anxiety needs.

Story
For Precious, age ain’t nothin’ but a number! At eight years old and fifty pounds, Precious is the Betty White of canines: sassy, spunky, and street-smart. She loves treats, toys, and adventure. Precious came in with her friend, Coco (also available for adoption) and another dog when her family could no longer take care of them. Precious is a proud member of the doggy playgroup and loves car rides and lower back scratches. We think she would do well in almost any home. Precious has a lot of living to do, and she knows that her best years are yet to come. She hopes she can share them with you!

Story
Larry is our resident, 70 pound, sweet boy who’s been with us over a year. He was picked up as a stray and, at first, he was rambunctious and not sure what leashes were for, but has since relaxed after getting settled and going through training with our volunteers. He still gets quite excited when he sees other dogs, but it’s just because he wants to make friends. Despite the development of food sensitivities and an antibiotic resistant ear infection he’s a happy and playful guy. He loves to go for walks and even runs. And in the quiet moments he practices his technique for sit and shake so that when he meets his forever family, he’s well prepared to greet

Story
Tanner is a true outdoorsman. He walks, runs, hikes, and even swims any and all hours. It’s a good thing he likes the water too because he’s been working on his baby seal certification and he’s so close to getting it! Tanner dreams of one day running a triathlon, but needs a little extra training so he doesn’t get overzealous and disrupt the competition. With the proper direction, Tanner is ready to take on anything. He’ll be your motivating force this coming winter to get out and move and meet those New Year’s Resolution fitness goals.
