Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Dandy!  She is one of 4 babies we saved with no time left before they would be euthanized. They were simply out of time – and we made it just in time to save them from that fate.  Dandy is now just about 7 months old.  Best guess is a Shepherd/Collie mix - currently she is about 45lbs, we expect her to grow a bit more than that into a med-large adult.Dandy is a gorgeous girl - photos really just do not do her justice.  She also happens to be sweet & smart with an engaging personality. She has a way of communicating with her humans with a mix of mumbing, 'talking,' a quiet woof and a play grumble.  You hear it when she's happy, wants something or is just being playful.  It's sure to make you smile!Dandy is a happy girl who loves time playing with her foster siblings and snuggling with them for naps.  She also loves snuggles and cuddles from her humans, and she thinks that belly rubs are the best.  And, let's not forget treats -- Dandy loves treats too, which makes training easy.  Dandy is a class A student!!On crating, she is ok with it, but prefers not.  With a treat as an inducement, however, she will make her way into her crate for some good sleep time. Potty training is mastered; however, as with any rescue dog (or any dog for that matter), she may need a refresher course for a few days once she is in her new environment.  We continue to work with her on basic training; she is doing well as she is a quick learner & loves the reward.  Of course, given her youth (and, again, as with any adolescent dog), Dandy's family will need to continue with her training.Dandy thrives with other dogs, and we feel she would do best with a balanced, confident canine housemate to follow their lead.  We, therefore, will be seeking a home that has another canine companion.  (Dandy has also been fostered in a home with a cat, and she did just fine.)Dandy is a sweet, beautiful girl with tons of love to give, and she is ready for a forever family of her own.  If you are interested, please register with us and apply, as discussed below.Dandy is spayed, current on core vaccines, dewormed, current on flea/tick/heartworm preventative, & microchipped! ______________________________________________________________ **If you are interested, YOU NEED TO APPLY.  Also, a follow-up email to info@safeatlast.net is strongly recommended. To pursue adoption, please register on www.safeatlast.net.  (Click Register on the left-hand side of our homepage.)  When you receive your password on your email account, please log back on to our website to complete the SAFE AT LAST on-line adoption application.  (Click Forms/Application on the left-hand side of our homepage and select the Adoption Application.) Once we have your completed application, if we feel you are a good match, we will contact you by email. YOU CANNOT MEET OUR RESCUE ANIMALS UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED TO ADOPT.  WE CANNOT CONSIDER YOU UNTIL YOU HAVE SUBMITTED THE FULLY FILLED OUT SAFE AT LAST ON-LINE ADOPTION APPLICATION.  Delay in submitting your application will put you behind other potentially suitable applicants.  Ultimately, approved adopters will be required to complete an adoption in Schoharie/Albany County. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Bernard!Want a quiet and absolutely handsome pup?  Well, Bernard is your guy.    He ventures out on his own, plays with his siblings but also is learning how nice some snuggles with all the foster moms can be. And the more snuggles he gets, the more he likes them.  He mixes in the group when it comes to play and can play with them all.  But, he will also wander off on his own adventure. If one of his siblings wants to join him, all the better.  His voice is seldom heard; he much prefers to make his way to your feet and lean in to let you know he is there and ready for some loves.  And the fluffy coat,  sweet face and shorter little legs.... oh my, what else could you ask for in a puppy? The 'Old Soul' puppies are about 8 weeks old (born ~5/1/2024).  Their mom appears to be a German Shepherd mix (see photos), and some of the other dogs on the property features Anatolian Shepherd/Lab qualities.  We expect but cannot guarantee these puppies will grow into large adults. The puppies are started on core vaccines, dewormed/de-flead, and microchipped!_________________________________________________________________________ *If you are interested, YOU NEED TO APPLY.  Also, a follow-up email to info@safeatlast.net is strongly recommended. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Eleanor!Eleanor is our adventure seeking baby, always busy and always looking for a new experience.    She is adorable, petite, fast and always leaps ahead of her siblings on any adventure and can be found leading the way. She quickly moves from one playmate to the next and she's happy as she goes.  And suprise, she can be our early riser and can let mom know it's time to get breakfast going and playtime started.  She also very much enjoys the company of her other foster siblings.  Eleanor could be summed up as our adorably cute, mischevious baby that makes you laugh with all of her smart little traits.  Add to that she is incredibly loving, loves to snuggle and loves to be with her people... She is so ready for a loving family of her own - Could that be you??The 'Old Soul' puppies are about 8 weeks old (born ~5/1/2024).  Their mom appears to be a German Shepherd mix (see photos), and some of the other dogs on the property features Anatolian Shepherd/Lab qualities.  We expect but cannot guarantee these puppies will grow into large adults. The puppies are started on core vaccines, dewormed/de-flead, and are microchipped. __________________________________________________________________________ **If you are interested, YOU NEED TO APPLY.  Also, a follow-up email to info@safeatlast.net is strongly recommended. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Harold!By far our biggest love bug is Harold. He loves nothing more than being in your lap and giving and getting kisses. And he is just so gentle about any interaction.  He especially loves spending time and being near his foster siblings.  And how about those handsome good looks??  That face can just make you melt.  He is our biggest baby but our most easy one when playing with his siblings -  and he can often  be found at the bottom of the puppy pile. He has that laid back, overall 'old soul' personality.  He will surely be a wonderful companion for some lucky family. The puppies are started on core vaccines, dewormed/de-flead, and microchipped! **If you are interested, YOU NEED TO APPLY.  Also, a follow-up email to info@safeatlast.net is strongly recommended. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Bernice!Bernice is our beautiful thinker. She can adjust from playing with her siblings to just sitting and watching them, probably deciding if she wants to be part of all that crazy play. She also does well with children and can chase them or sit quietly in their lap.   Bernice is also animated and will share stories with her foster mom.  It's usually with an adorable little bark, tilt of her head and hop. And then off she goes.   She is the first to settle in for a nap or at night, but she is also one of the first to wake up and get the crew going. And she loves to greet mom at the gate with that cute little face - so we are early to bed and early to rise with her. It's a good thing she is a fantastic napper. The puppies are started on core vaccines, dewormed/de-flead, and can be microchipped upon their arrival to NY/Schoharie County. __________________________________________________________________________ **If you are interested, YOU NEED TO APPLY.  Also, a follow-up email to info@safeatlast.net is strongly recommended. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Arthur!Want that happy, want to be with you puppy, that's ready to play or snuggle?  That's our Authur! Everyone is his playmate - mom, children and his littermates. He is such a great judge of what level of play as well, slowing down when needed and racing through the play tunnels or around the yard.  He is smart and has learned the routine in his foster home.  He knows when mom is making their munchies, how to open the baby gate when mom unlocks it and where to find the softest blankets for nap time.  At the end of play or before bedtime his favorite place is curled up on your feet or in your lap.  And the very best thing about Authur is when he sits and looks up with you with that oh so cute face and beautiful eyes. The puppies are started on core vaccines, dewormed/de-flead, and can be microchipped upon their arrival to NY/Schoharie County. ___________________________________________________________________________ **If you are interested, YOU NEED TO APPLY.  Also, a follow-up email to info@safeatlast.net is strongly recommended.
