Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. You MUST complete a Best Friend Pet Adoption application if you are interested in Tesla.  Please fill out our dog adoption application by copying and pasting this link in a new browser window:   https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC     Tesla (Tes) is an exuberant, friendly girl with lots of personality. She is roughly 4-5 years old, ~65lbs and appears to be a Husky, Shepherd, possibly Carolina Dog mix - whatever mix she is - she is absolutely beautiful, especially with her stunning blue eyes!   Tes is housebroken/crate trained and is normally crated when no one is home. She has been left for 8 hours during work days with no potty issues. She needs a large crate (42" - 48") as she likes to sprawl wide open and sleeps belly up in some of the cutest positions. She usually sleeps in her crate at night, but has done well sleeping out overnight and enjoys snuggling up on the couch. Tes wouldn't be suitable in an apartment and would do best with a fenced yard. She can be vocal at times and will definitely alert you that someone/something is at the door or yard. She does fine with the 4ft chain link at her foster home.   Tesla has medium-high energy. Since she's been settled in her foster home, she doesn't require a ton of exercise, but does need daily physical simulation/lots of outdoor time for her to explore - she likes to entertain herself with a ball/toy. Tes would do just fine as an only dog or with a well matched neutered male - similar to her size and play style. She prefers a dog that she can run around with for a few minutes then she likes to hang outside and sunbathe (on cooler days). She doesn't like a dog that is too overwhelming with excitement or that inappropriately invades her space.   Tesla will do best with a confident handler that is calm, consistent and provides guidance. She can be visually excited on walks, but she redirects easy with verbal or treat praise. She may need a few reminders to walk with manners, and once she knows you're not going to allow her to pull with excitement, she walks wonderfully. She is very smart, occasionally stubborn, but when you follow through with what you ask her to do, she is respectful and eager to please. She is food motivated and knows basic commands (sit, down & come) and waits patiently for her meals.   Tes has been observed with children twice and did well. Older children (8+) probably better than youngsters since she is larger and easily excitable. In previous foster homes, she has done ok with confident "dog-friendly" cats. If a kitty is shy and runs, the chase may be too fun. Slow and appropriate kitty introductions are highly recommended to create a successful relationship.   EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Tesla was picked up as a stray by animal control after she was hit by car. She had a fractured pelvis that was able to heal on its own. She has been waiting over a year to find a home to call her own, please consider meeting her! She would love to meet you!!   Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    We prefer that applicants live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore prefer applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC. We will consider applicants who live further away if we  feel the home is right for this sweet girl.    INTERESTED IN ADOPTING TESLA ? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All dogs on the Best Friend Pet Adoption  website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs.  The link to our application is   https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC      Pluto is an affectionate, 70 pound, neutered male dog.  Pluto is very sweet, healthy, and happy. He is up-to-date on his vaccinations and the vet estimates his age as 6 years old.   Pluto is great with people (including kids) and most dogs. His favorite things include pets, cuddles, naps, and chew toys. He keeps himself entertained but will chase after toys and gets excited when we take him for walks or on a drive.    Pluto plays well with our other dogs, however, we have noticed that he can be possessive  over toys if boundaries are not set. He is house-trained and not possessive over food. He is quiet and will only briefly bark when we have a package or visitor. He will use the bathroom in a fenced yard or on a leash.  He has met one cat. He was not aggressive but seems to have a prey drive so he would do best in a home without cats. He is fine in the yard with our chickens even without supervision. We feel Pluto could be with other dogs or as an only dog.   Pluto is crate trained; however, he does not need a crate. He prefers to be out of his crate. He is well mannered so he is allowed to free roam even when we are not home.  He knows where he is allowed to go and what toys he can play with.  He is used to us being gone during that day for work. We check up on him on the dog camera and he is usually sleeping.    At night, Pluto sleeps on a couch, recliner, or dog bed depending on his preference. He does prefer to sleep with us but snores way too loud.  Pluto is a wonderful dog who is gentle, and friendly. He is always ready to snuggle up next to you on the couch and receive pets. He will make a great family pet.  Could you consider giving him the loving home he  deserves?  EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Pluto was found abandoned on the side of the road in October 2023. A BFPA volunteer found him and took him in.  We are helping this sweet boy find his forever home.      Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    Applicants should ideally live no further than one hour from Cary NC.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize adoptions.  For the perfect home for Pluto, we will considered approved applicants who live a bit further away from the Triangle area of NC.    INTERESTED IN ADOPTING PLUTO? Story
Nella was hit by a car (Dec'19), rehabbed by WSPCA, adopted Jan'20. She has nerve damage rt front leg, and holds that leg differently. It doesn't affect her mobility. She can be overstimulated in high traffic areas, but responds to training/treats. Trained via TWC at Proactive Dog Training in Cary NC (I also board her there as needed); experienced with ecollar and invisible fence. Had bilateral TPLO surgery (Dec. '22). Vaccines up to date. She is gorgeous! Nella would be a great fit for someone who wants a single loyal dog, and who can provide exercise by training, walking and/or who has land to let her run! She loves to play and is a good snuggler. She is VERY smart and does well with physical/ mental stimulation. She loves people, but as all dogs, practice caution around young children. She has lived w/ me, my son, and small beagle-mix for 4 yrs. For over 3 yrs she got along fine with our other smaller dog, but developed a jealousy issue and instigates fights.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.MEET RANDY! Randy is an 8 year old,  21 lb. beagle mix dog.  Randy is a loving and affectionate dog that will make a very loyal companion.   Randy is very friendly with everyone he meets.  He is a very relaxed guy who loves other dogs too.  He is currently living with cats and does fine. Randy is very chill but does like to play with other dogs occasionally.  He needs a buddy and won't do well as an only dog.  He would do great with a family that leaves the house to work or with a family that works from home.  His energy level is low.  He will occasionally play and do zoomies but mostly hangs out and sleeps.  Randy does not require a fenced yard.  Potty breaks on a leash and a nice walk everyday would suffice for his exercise.   He needs to be taken outside on a regular basis for his potty breaks.   Randy is crate trained but he does have some crate anxiety.  An airplane style crate is better than a wire crate for him.  At night he sleeps in his crate with no problem.  Randy is a sweet happy boy who loves to cuddle and hang out.  He loves to eat and loves to go out for a walk.  He is looking for a forever home where he can love his humans and in return be part of a loving home. Randy has a heart murmur which is being treated with a common doggie  prescription.  His foster Mom can explain more about this with any approved applicant. We will consider applicants who live a bit further if they are a great fit for this sweet guy.    INTERESTED IN ADOPTING  RANDY? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Do you want an active senior dog?  Boone is the dog that is perfect for you. INTERESTED IN ADOPTING BOONE? If so, please fill out our dog adoption application by copying and pasting this link in a new browser window:  https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC    Boone is a beautiful, friendly Black Lab who 12 year old and 60 pounds.  Boone is such a good boy who deserves another good home. His owner had him since he was a puppy but unfortunately his owner has serious health issues and can longer care for Boone.  They loved Boone so much, they choose to give him up for adoption so he could continue to have a great life. Boone loves humans and canines.  He loves playing fetch with his humans more than playing with other dogs. He has not been around cats or  children, so we are not sure how he would behavior.  Older children would probably be best.  Boone is housebroken and has great house manners, so he does not need to be crated when we are not home.  Boone has a lot of energy for an older dog.  A fenced yard would be nice to have.  But if he doesn't have a fenced yard, he would need a daily walk and some serious play time.  Bonne is leashed trained and he is very well behaved on our walks. Boone's loves to play fetch.  You should plan on purchasing a ball launcher or have a good arm!  His love of fetch knows no bounds: hot or cold, day or night, rain or shine, he's always ready to play. He loves butt scratches, ear massages and belly rubs.  He'll join you on the couch or bed or be content with his dog bed.  Boone is looking for a family to play fetch with him and love him for the sweet boy he is.  He will need a home with another dog or with a human who is home most of the time. He is not used to being totally alone. Boone has always lived with either another dog or a person who was home most of the day.  Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    We prefer that applicants live no further than one hour from Cary NC.  Our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian is any medical care is needed prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We will consider applicants who live a bit further IF the fit is perfect for Boone. Please consider giving Boone the loving forever home that he deserves.    INTERESTED IN ADOPTING BOONE? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  All dogs on our website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs. Please consider this sweet girl today! Here is our application:    https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC Frannie is a sweet and beautiful, Blue Brindle Pittie. She's about 15 months old and weighs around 45-50lbs. She is gentle natured with lots of personality. She's super cute and will give you a silly, full body "giggle" wag! She loves being with her people and is a wonderful companion.   Frannie has done well with her crate training and house breaking. She needs to be crated when left home alone (6-7 hours), and as of now she is crated overnight. She's food & toy motivated, eager to please and is learning basic manners. She is gentle with food and waits patiently for her meals. At times, she still acts like a puppy, but overall she has good impulse control and likes to chill on a dog bed and entertain herself with a bone or toy.   Fran overall has great leash manners but may need reminders to "settle/leave it" when something excites her. She can be an alert barker and would do best in a home not an apartment. Although, she goes potty well on leash, she would really enjoy a fenced yard to get her "zoomies" out. She has a moderate energy level and after playtime with her foster siblings, she enjoys exploring the yard and sunbathing on porch or lounging on couch/bed. She also likes to play fetch and learning to bring back.   Frannie would do best with good natured, neutered male dog that could help guide her when she's unsure. She would do ok as an only too as she loves getting attention from her humans. She would do ok with older kids (8+). She's good with "dog savvy" cats, but if kitty is shy and runs, the chase may be fun -slow and appropriate intros are always recommended with kitties.   Like many other rescue dogs, Frannie had an unstable start to life and has some insecurities, but she will open up quickly with treats and sweet talk. She has been in foster care for over 9 months and has come along away from the shy puppy she was. She would succeed greatly with a dog experience owner that can continue to build her confidence. Breed experience is always appreciated, but she would be fine for a first time Pit Bull owner. Please consider adopting (or fostering) this sweet little lady!   Check out Frannie's videos below!
