Story
Some dogs are born into loving homes and then are adored for the rest of their lives. Others are not. And this happened to SPIN’s beautiful Salem. Salem wasn’t perfect. Goodness knows he wasn’t perfect. He pulled on leash and chased the cats and he was bouncy and playful and a little mouthy and he growled at his owner when they tried to punish him. For four years this was his life. Four years of being a disappointment because he was, you know, a standard poodle. Many people desire a perfect dog, or perhaps a warm, stuffed animal—cuddly, soft, quiet, perfect. They often believe this is how dogs naturally are, not considering their energy, intelligence, playfulness, and fears. When these traits emerge, people blame the dog, and resentment settles in. We loved him right away. Everyone who met him liked him immediately! What a smart, cuddly pup! Of course, we are all poodle people and all we could say to him was, "Welcome to SPIN, buddy!" To help him overcome his general level of anxiety that was built up over the 4 years he was in a stressful home, SPIN put him on Fluoxetine. And man, has this helped. You will see below in the description from his foster that he is still a little jumpy around loud noised and new things – he still doesn’t love having his ears and neck touched or pulled. I think we can understand why. Ah, Salem, we will find you a home where you can feel safe, warm and loved.

Story
Hi there! I’m Sonny, a male 3-year-old poodle-terrier mix with 26 pounds of pure love and sweetness! I’ve been with my foster family in the Waterloo area for a little while, and let me tell you—I’m a very good boy. I’m a cuddle bug who loves scratches and pets, and I’ll happily snuggle up beside you on the couch for some quality time. When I’m not cozied up, I like to keep an eye on the world from the window—but don’t worry, I’m a quiet observer and not much of a barker. Meal time is my favorite, and liver treats? Oh, I’m obsessed! I’m super gentle when taking treats, so I promise to be polite about it. My dream family would enjoy cozy couch cuddles and take me for a couple of nice walks each day. You’ll love watching me waddle on walks—it’s adorable, I swear! I like a little playtime and zoomies here and there, but I’m always ready for a nap afterward. I’m a “velcro dog,” which means I’ll follow you everywhere (when I’m not snoozing, of course). I’d do great in a home with another dog—especially an older, confident pup I can learn from—but I’d be just as happy being the only dog in a patient, loving family willing to help me build my confidence. Even though my hair is short now, I’ve got poodle-terrier hair, so my forever family should be willing to groom me. I can’t wait to meet you and show you just how much love I have to give. Could you be my perfect match? ••••••••• As my foster family gets to know me my profile can change and will be updated accordingly. Check back often for details! Story
Shiloh is a 5-year-old, 42-pound female Poodle with a loving heart. Shiloh’s past hasn’t been an easy one—she lacked proper vet care—but we’re ensuring she gets everything she needs to be in excellent health and ready to start her new life with her adopters. Shiloh is a gentle soul, radiating sweetness and calmness in every interaction. Whether she’s curled up at your feet or exploring her surroundings, her joy and contentment are evident when she’s with you. She’s not just a pretty face—Shiloh is also intelligent and eager to please. Her calming nature makes her a perfect match for a home with calm children. Shiloh thrives as the center of someone’s world, offering comfort and affection in return. While she enjoys outdoor adventures, she’s adaptable and would do well in a condo setting as long as she gets regular walks and outings. One of the most remarkable things about Shiloh is how quickly she has adjusted to her foster home. Her affectionate personality shines through as she greets everyone with excitement, making them feel like the most important person in the world, no matter how long they’ve been away. She walks well on a leash, keeps pace, and is housetrained and well-mannered. Shiloh is continuing to learn and expand her understanding of commands. During the day, she enjoys finding a quiet spot to relax or snuggling on the couch, and at night, she sleeps peacefully on her dog bed in her foster mom’s room. Shiloh’s happiness is most evident when she’s in your company, whether resting quietly or joining you on an adventure. Her calming presence and gentle spirit are truly heartwarming, making her impossible not to fall in love with. We are accepting applications and reviewing them after January 15th She is located in East Gwillimbury area. ••••••••• As my foster family gets to know me my profile can change and will be updated accordingly. Story
Meet TILLIE (short for Matilda), a beautiful 9-year-old Miniature Schnauzer who is ready to spend her golden years in a loving forever home. Weighing about 17 pounds, Tillie has spent much of her life with a breeder, raising puppies. Now, it's her turn to be pampered and cherished. Love Schnauzers? Love (youthful) senior dogs? Love sweet dogs? Tillie is definitely your match. This sweet girl is a bundle of love and loyalty. While she’s a bit shy at first, her gentle personality shines through as she bonds with her humans. She seems to particularly love men and has become her foster dad’s adorable shadow around the house! What makes Tillie special? There are so many things! Tillie knows her manners and is fully housetrained. She is good with the other dogs in her foster home although not overly interested in playing with them yet (cats we are unsure but her gentle demeanour suggests she would be ok with dog savvy cats). She forms strong connections with her family, making her the perfect companion. Tillie is still learning how to walk on a leash, so she will need a securely fenced yard where she can do her business and safely explore and stretch her legs while she learns how to navigate leash walking. Additionally, Tillie will need to be spayed as part of her transition to her new life of comfort and care. Her new family will have to be prepared to take her to one of our vets so this can be done at our expense. Her ideal family will have patience as she continues to adjust to her new life and will shower her with love and security. Tillie would make a wonderful family member for a family who wants a snuggle buddy, and a sweet presence to enhance their home. Are you ready to give this lovely lady the forever home she deserves? Apply for Tillie today and start your journey toward a lifetime of love and companionship. ••••••••• As my foster family gets to know me my profile can change and will be updated accordingly.
