Story
Female Molly was born June 2024, and we have fostered her and her female sibling Lily since they were two months old on our small farm in Wapato, Wa. Molly has more white fur on her chest. They have been spayed and are current on shots and deworming (with documentation). They are the offspring of a stray female pit mix and an unknown father. They are already well-socialized to our three other dogs (terrier, border collie, golden doodle), seven cats, pasture-raised chickens, ducks, and alpaca. They are affectionate and sensitive dogs. Molly and Lily are ready for a new home, and we are not charging any fees to adopt them. However, we expect new owners to provide a caring and active environment for them and will try to ensure this by asking prospective owners what new environment they will experience. We are willing to travel to surrounding states (Washington, Oregon, Idaho) to deliver the dogs.

*The pets pictured in this posting are just ad pictures not available pets.*The Yakima Humane Society provides care for thousands of animals each year, some of which require time in foster care before they are ready to be adopted. Fostering a homeless pet is both a rewarding and enriching experience; it is also great for families or individuals who love animals but cannot commit to having a full-time companion animal. The care that dedicated Foster Care Families provide is invaluable, both to the animals fostered and the people that adopt them. You can foster as much or as little as you like, and we need foster homes for a wide variety of animals - kittens, puppies, cats, dogs, and an occasional small & furry animal! You can learn more about our foster program and fill out an application athttp://www.yakimahumane.org/get-involved/foster/.*The pets pictured in this posting are just ad pictures not available pets.*

Story
Meet Yuki, a three year old Husky/Pit mix.Yuki is an adorable girl who appears older than she actually is due to the grey around her muzzle, however, her age is pretty spot on considering we adopted her out as a puppy. We always love to see our dogs all grown up, but we hate to see them come back into us. We contacted her adopter only to find out they had rehomed her. They swore they were going to have the people they rehomed her to reach out but we never heard back so Yuki continues to wait. Yuki is a very sweet girl who is a bit nervous but loves to check in with her people for reassurance. She walks very well on the leash and weighs a petite 44 pounds. She has met at least one other dog while with us and did well. We adore this gentle mannered sweetheart and our heart breaks to see her back with us. This time we are determined to find her forever home. This pet is available for adoption on 12/15/2024 at 10:57 AM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854.Did you know YHS lets local community members FOSTER TO ADOPT?? Story
Meet Tulip, a one and a half year old Pit mix weighing around 40 pounds. Tulip is a fun girl who has come into us once before. We contacted the owners when she was brought in this time but they haven`t contacted us back. Tulip acts as though she hasn`t been very well socialized so a lot of stuff is new. She is a little unsure and would benefit from someone working with her and exposing her to new things. Once Tulip warms up she is an absolute goober and we could totally see her running around and doing zoomies. This medium sized girl loves her toys and will carry them around, we find her adorable! This pet is available for adoption on 12/29/2024 at 2:36 PM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Chunk, a lovable 4-year-old Cane Corso mix! Chunk is a true gentle giant who adores people and enjoys curling up in his bed, especially when he gets treats. While he’s big, he’s also calm and well-mannered, making him a great walking companion—he’s gentle on the leash and enjoys his strolls.Chunk is back with us and looking for his forever home after being adopted and returned. He would thrive best in a home with an experienced owner who can manage his food aggression, as he needs to be kenneled while eating to ensure he’s comfortable. While he’s not the best fit for a household with small dogs, he could do well with another larger dog after proper introductions. As always, we recommend testing all potential family members to make sure everyone gets along. Chunk is ready to find the right home where he can show off his sweet nature and continue to grow into the wonderful companion he is!Come meet Chunk today, he is currently available for adoption at the Ellensburg Animal Shelter. If you are interested in adopting this pet, please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org and a staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been received.A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal`s picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is lifesaving. Adopt Don`t Shop.
