Story
Ginger is a ~5 year old 23lb spayed female mix. She is a rescue from Texas, so her exact age is unknown. i am looking for her to go into a stable home as she enters her middle age. I want her to get more time than I can give her. She is a very friendly, sweet, spunky, and loving girl. She can jump very high, but responds to commands like off, sit, and lay down. I do have to be cautious with her jumping when she gets excited to interact with people. She is kennel trained, house trained and a very fast learner. she is good with kids and dogs of all sizes and ages. She lives with my 22mo old baby, another dog and some reptiles. She has lived with cats before. She will need to establish routine vet care asap for maintenance of environmental/food allergies. Please only inquire if you are able to give her a prescription diet: hills derm complete and daily apoquel 5.4mg tablets. (Why she needs established vet care right away as these are both prescriptions) Thank you!

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
·Intake Reason: Transfer from MADACC·Weight: Known with: ·Cats: Unknown ·Dogs: Unknown ·Kids: Unknown ·Personality: ActiveGreetings, my name is Freya; that name means ‘lady' and I am hoping to be your precious little lady. When I was a young and crazy pup, I came to WCHS from MADACC (Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission) where I was a stray. I was adopted and lived with a person for about 6 months. There were a couple other pooches in my home and we got along fine and had fun when food or goodies like bones were not around. But if we were in the same room during mealtime, tensions got high and I felt I had to guard my goods. In order to keep peace in the house, my people decided it was best for me to come back to WCHS to find a home that might be a better fit for me. I am fine sharing valuable resources with people, just not other canines; this girl simply appreciates a little privacy when I am eating. I am a friendly and affectionate gal who may just fit on your lap since I weigh only 58 pounds; who wouldn't love extended snuggle sessions. In my previous home I was comfortable in a crate when I was alone so that I did not have to manage the whole house by myself; I could rest and relax in my comfy cozy little den. At bedtime, though, I got to share the bed with my person and that was fabulous. In my previous home I never had to develop a signal to let my person know I had to go outside because I was on a consistent and regular schedule. I have good house-training skills but still think it would be wise to give me plenty of opportunities to get outside until I understand the household routine; maybe I could even work on a nifty signal. I am an active lass who enjoys playing fetch and had a great time romping in my fenced yard. I do like to play with other pooches (as long as there is no food around); my mates do need to understand that I am a high-octane rough player who likes to have fun. I love car rides, Jollyballs and kiddie pools to splash around in on warm summer days. I am smart and like to learn; I already know the cues for ‘sit', ‘stay', ‘place/bed' and ‘gentle'. It would be lovely if we could take some classes together; perhaps we can practice obedience, rally, nose work, dog parkour or fun canine sports. I hope you stop by to make my acquaintance because I would love to meet you and start down the path of life together.#2

Story
·Intake Reason: Surrendered owner passed away; Adopted for 1 month & returned due to aggression towards a friend's dog·Weight: 65 lbs.WCHS has observed that Cocoa loves people very much but can sometimes be possessive of her human. What does that mean? It means Cocoa would do best in a single person's home where she can have her person all to herself. When visitors arrive, maintaining Cocoa's best behavior can be easily managed. WCHS will include a free consultation to help learn this management!Known with:·Cats: lived with a 15 yr old neutered male·Dogs: Previously lived with 5 yr old neutered male APBTx and plays in WCHS playgroups well; Would do best as the only dog in the home.·Kids: Unknown·Personality: AffectionateGreetings, my name is Cocoa and I am a friend to all. I had a lovely life with a person for a couple of years where I lived with my good buddy, Ranger, and even a senior kitty-cat. Unfortunately, my person passed away so the whole gang came to WCHS to search for a new home. I used to have a great time playing with Ranger but he recently found his new forever home; I adore him so I am very happy for him. I also love to go on walks and explore the fabulous world around us. I do need a little practice with polite leash walking because I get so happy and excited that I pull a bit. When it comes to manners, I was so polite and respectful of my person's things that I was allowed to roam freely about the house when I was alone. Although I had a comfy pet bed in my previous home, I had the opportunity to sleep with my human in their bed and that was grand. I am an affectionate lovebug so cuddling all night long was quite a treat. In my previous home I knew to go to the door and whine a bit to ask to go outside. When I get to my new home, we will need to figure out each other's signals and routines; until then I will need plenty of opportunities to go outside to use the facilities. I have been described as friendly, playful, quiet and gentle; I am a big fan of car rides and enjoy a rousing game of fetch. I am a wiggle-butt with loads of love to give and I promise to be loyal to you forever. Stop by and ask to meet Cocoa, I think we will have a magnificent life together.#1
