Yozuri and her sister Yamaha were found when their foster parents were on a walk. The sisters came trotting out of the woods where they had been living in a cardboard box. They were vetted and fostered and adopted to a home. Due to unforeseen circumstances that were not at all of her making, Yozuri finds herself back in the care of Save a Stray once again hoping for a forever home. Yozuri is just happy about life. She is housetrained and crate trained. She gets along with everyone, loves toys, and playing fetch. Yozuri is smart, comes when called, and gives attention easily. She is a playful girl but also loves to snuggle. She is a delight to have around. This girl deserves a home to treat her like a princess. Meet Marti! Marti is a 5 year old, neutered, double merle, male, who came to us almost completely feral. He is a slightly pudgy 40 pounds, crate trained, house broke (but still leaks a little urine when sleeping although we haven't tried medication for that yet as it has been improving). As he is double merle he has some vision issues as well. Marti will need a very special owner that is willing to give him plenty of time to learn to trust. At his foster home Marti gets along with other dogs, is great with cats, and walks off leash in a rural setting. Marti is that lower energy aussie everyone's looking for and would like a quiet home. Marti will need more training in cooperative Care which his foster is working on and is easy to implement. Introducing Lucy! Brand new to rescue, we know very little about Lucy, who came to rescue with Gemma, other than the basics: Lucy is 4 year old red merle spayed female weighing 28 lbs at intake, who was surrendered due to not being good with babies and young children in the home and was living in an unheated garage with Gemma. At current, both dogs are friendly & affectionate with people, soaking up all opportunities to be with them but are showing signs of not being good citizens with unfamiliar dogs at this time as they acclimate from living in a garage away from people and other dogs to being inside a home where human and canine contact is more regular. Lucy is also struggling some separation anxiety, which isn't surprising given her previous situation. We are currently taking some time to assess them as to their needs when it comes to living with other dogs long-term, but are seeking big hearts with time and patience to give who could be interested in fostering or foster-to-adopt applicants for these ladies. Eunice is a 1 year old, spayed female, Aussie mix. With her short legs and big ears I would not be surprised if there was some Corgi in there but we don't know what mix she is. Eunice was turned into a local animal control and transferred to ARM. Eunice is friendly with people, exhuberant and likes attention. She does jump up on people and needs some work on walking on a leash without pulling. She can be bit dog selective ( a bit of a guarder and defensive while in a foster home with 6 other dogs). She has been doing better with a single dog in her current foster home. Eunice needs some work on her manners but she is a nice girl that will settle into life as a great companian for someone. Her current foster home says: She can jump over the back of the couch, begs for attention a lot, can be sweet as pie, isn't signalling to go outside so needs training on that, destroys plush toys... Sounds like this girl needs an active home that will keep her mind busy and tired! The details: Needs fence: No, but we haven't tested her off leash either. Good with dogs: Mostly, can be obnoxious so needs tolerant other dog or to be an only dog. Good with cats: a little intense but did ok with cats that don't run. We would say no cats or managed well. (she is chasing the cat in her new foster home). Good with kids: Seems to be All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. Odin is a 5 year olds, neutered male black bi Australian Shepherd. He is 37 pounds, housebroke, good with cats, and likes people but is bit nervous around strangers. He does pull on leash some, is well mannered in the house and can sit, down and shake. Odin is currently living in a foster with 6 other dogs with no issues. Odin was a transfer from a shelter in Iowa due to the fact that he has issues with body handling and needs some work in cooperative care to get him comfortable with grooming and vet visits. His foster is working on muzzle training and desensitizing him to brushing. Odin is very treat motivated and loves his training sessions on the grooming table. We took him there but the resident dog and Odin decided very quickly that they did not want to share a home and he came back to his foster the same day. His one fault is separation anxiety— he wants to be apart of everything all the time. He must be placed with a family that can provide the attention and love he requires and deserves. Unfortunately, I’m moving at the end of the month and my new place has restrictions on dogs. From his foster: Meet Casanova, better known as “Nova” or “Nuggie” because he was just a little nugget when we got him! Nova arrived in MN from Arkansas on 2/15 with his 8 siblings. He is about 13 weeks old and 9 pounds. He is listed as an Australian Shepherd mix, but while he definitely has Aussie legs and markings, now that his ears are up, we really feel like he might have more German Shepherd in him. The one thing we’re certain of – he’s adorable and a funny little guy! He’s also really smart and treat motivated. Nova is definitely all puppy right now but will also be a higher-energy dog who would likely love an active family. Daily walks and activities to keep his body and mind busy will be important. While he can be a little timid at first, he’ll be marching around like he owns the house in no time at all. He LOVES playing with other dogs so would very much benefit from a playmate who can keep up with his energy. He wears out both of our resident Boston Terriers on a daily basis. He is also your typical biting puppy. Hands and ankles are the most fun toys ever and while he can become hyper-focused on them, he will eventually redirect to a fun toy. Someone who understands he is a puppy and will outgrow this phase will be important! When he’s tired, he trades those bites for kisses and cuddles - he’s such a sweet cuddler! He also LOVES having his belly scratched. He is currently doing well sleeping in a bed in his crate at night. He’s still young and can’t hold his bladder all night so we have a small fenced area with pee pads he uses at night so he can relieve himself and go back to sleep. He uses this same area during the day if we have to leave. He came to MN during the extreme cold so we started training him on pee pads. He will go potty outside but not as consistently as the pee pads just yet. We’re working on it! He does cry a little when we leave him but he quiets down quickly. He loves his people and wants to be close to you so he will likely be your shadow. He often sleeps by our feet when working from home or follows us around the house so he knows where we are. They don’t come much cuter than this little guy!
