Story
Duke is a love bug male Terrier/Chihuahua mix, born 7/8/2012. This big love bug is just that, he is full of cuddles and rubs. He loves to play with you or chew on his cow hoove. Duke does not really like being around other dogs, he wants you to himself, but he will tolerate them. We think that he was kept outdoors most of the time because he will not stay outside for long periods of time without you; he loves being in the house with you and his family. Duke will just come up to you and lie next to your feet and hope to get some loving from you; he really is hoping to get his belly rubs. Duke is just starving for love and attention and he really deserves it because he is a great dog; we do not think that he got much of it before. He sleeps well in his crate and loves to sleep near your bed. He is housetrained on the potty pads and always uses them, but he will also go outside using the doggy door. If you have children he would like them to be 10 years of age or older so that they will not be so rough on him. He does not like to be left at home all day alone, being alone for a few hours would be fine or a stay at home parent would be great for him, or even another dog. Duke was extremely heavy when we got him and he has lost a lot of weight, just playing in the backyard with his foster or the other dogs. He has learned how to walk with a leash, but he needs a harness on him or he will pull the collar right over his neck. Duke is ready to go to his new home and get lots of love from you and in return you will get more love then you ever would want. SECURE FENCING REQUIRED FOR ALL OF OUR RESCUED DOGS. For more information email: starshalodogs@yahoo.com. If you are considering adopting a dog through HALO Here are some helpful hints: Bring pictures of your yard to show secure fencing. Most of our dogs require a 6 foot fenced yard. Yards must be cleared of any fox tail weeds. The adoption donation is cash or check. We will follow up on the dogs well-being within 30 days after the  adoption to make sure that they are happy and thriving. We do adopt small dogs to apartments or condo and need to see pictures of the patio or balcony area. If you rent, please bring copy of your lease to show you can have pets and any size restrictions. We do not adopt to homes with children under the age of five (5) unless we know the history of the dog with young children. All Children MUST be present at adoption. If you own a dog and are looking for a friend please bring your dog with you so that they can be introduced to make sure that they will get along.November 5, 2024, 1:17 am

Story
We are a couple looking to rehome our loving 2 year old indoor pup Koa who has lots of energy. He enjoys being around other people and dogs. One of his favorite activities is being at the dog park for hours if he can. He also really enjoys being around water (bath time included). He can be a bit stubborn at times but is very kind-hearted and clingy around his owners. He knows the basic obedience commands and has good patience. Needs more work with leash training has a slight issue with resource guarding on small toys he can chew up easily so we avoid giving him any soft toys as he’s a heavy chewer. He is really good in the house and does not have any destructive behavior. Please note he has sensitive allergies and takes meds every morning for them. We hope to have someone or a family with good space for him to support his daily needs. He seems to get anxious in smaller environments so it would be preferred to have enough space where he can release his energy on a daily basis.

Story
Hope came into my life from the animal shelter when she was just 6 months old, a beautiful soul born on November 1, 2023. Now 14 months old, she has grown into an incredibly loving and energetic companion. She’s wonderful with small children and smaller dogs, always showing a gentle and playful nature. Hope is full of energy and thrives on activity, so she needs a family who can dedicate time and attention to her. She’s incredibly smart, a quick learner, and always eager to please. Though a little skittish at times, her sweet and loving personality shines through in every cuddle and wag of her tail. This bright, affectionate girl deserves a home where she’ll be cherished and given the care she needs to truly flourish. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and fun companion, Hope might just be the perfect fit for your family.

Story
Riley is a 4 year old Belgian Shepherd and a great running partner. We got Riley when he was a 3 weeks old puppy, from my mother's friend. Riley is looking for a quiet house where he can be treated as another member of the family. He's active if you want to play, but will definitely let you rest if that is what you want. He likes being inside the house, but he also craves being outside. He's loving, but he also likes to have his own space. He is very friendly, but again, he likes his space and not always enjoys strangers putting hands on him everytime they want. He is not very food driven and usually eats once a day. He does take many supplements with his food to help with his grass allergies.
