Story
Hi, I'm Luna!  I’m an approximately 7 year-old female with a super soft light sable coat. I'm a gentle girl with a very expressive face and the cutest head tilt. I'm also quite cuddly and love to give kisses and snuggles. Everyone who meets me says I'm a very sweet girl.   My DNA says I am mostly a white shepherd, a german shepherd and a bit of shiloh shepherd. I have great house manners and am fully crate trained but really don't need a crate. I can be left alone in the house and won't even think of destroying your stuff. I also sleep quietly through the night. I like my rope tugs, balls, chewy toys and anything that squeaks! So if you ever need to work on something or just need your own quiet time, just give me a fun toy and I’ll go off and entertain myself. And honestly, I really don’t mind sleeping in a little some days if you want to however I would like a family that likes to play ball, walk, and go for rides. I am an active girl and have to keep my fabulous shape.    I have gotten along with calm, respectful dogs that don't get upset when I get a little pesky. I've done several pack walks and have handled myself like a lady. I have a head halter during walks as it gently reminds me to pay attention but I have also gone without it.  I may do best as the only dog in the home because I really want my own person.  I have lived with other dogs before that understand my style. I LOVE going for rides in the car! My foster family takes me out to quite a few different places. So far, I love the quietness of the country and woods are my favorites - Sooo many good smells. I absolutely love using my nose.  I am NOT aggressive, just protective if I need to be. (I really like people).  I already have really good basic commands down, I am highly treat/ball mortivated and have excellent focus. I'm very bright, if I do say so myself, and need to be challenged with daily training, ball play, and FUN. I'm really looking forward to learning more and showing you just how great I am.   Older kids would be fine but I have not been around really small kids and they may just be too much for me. Oh, to keep my beautiful coat nice and soft, I don't mind my baths and brushing. Really, any attention is good attention and I love to be brushed. I would also make a great gardening companion and I love to jusst be by your side.  So, if you’re looking for a fun, sweet, active girl who is also beautiful, affectionate and smart, I may just be your perfect match.  If you’d like to meet me, I’ll be waiting in Newcastle. Story
Hi. I’m Finn!  I’m a 3-4 year old German Shepherd (mostly) and weigh about 65 pounds. I'm a happy, friendly boy and LOVE LOVE LOVE to meet new people. Sometimes I can't help it and want to say hi to everyone that passes by. I like other dogs, too, and enjoy a good game of "chase and be chased". I like it so much that some dogs think my greeting can be a little over the top but most want to play like me but I will chill if told to. I love walks and like to sniff everything. I'm great on leash as long as you use my front clip harness. I don't pull with the front clip and it's easy to put on. I’m working hard on training and feel I have mastered sit, down, stay, shake and off. I am really a perfect walking buddy. Even though I love other dogs, sometimes I need to be reminded to share. However, if it’s a tug-of-war rope then GAME ON. I’ll play tug all day long!  If you have a swimming spot nearby, I'm in, literally. I ride nicely in the car and jump right in. I'm ready to roll. My foster family takes me to German Shepherd meetups and I’ve done great!  Like I said, I'm a friendly boy just waiting for that perfect family that wants to have fun and go places. Don't get me wrong, I can be a chill, snuggle buddy too and love to cuddle my foster dad in the mornings.  If you are looking for a great out-and-about boy, come see me and we can be friendls.  I'll be waiting with my foster family in Mountain View. Story
Meet HIROMI HIROMI was turned into the shelter as a found dog. No one ever came for her. Despite being failed by her former person, this sweetheart remains devoted and loving. After Hiromi’s arrival she was initially timid and lacked confidence. She can still be somewhat apprehensive but she has opened up and trusted us enough to let her true colors shine! She is silly, sensitive, refreshingly affectionate, playful and a free spirit. Her absolute favorite past time is to be showered with love and give it in return. Her gentle, resilient nature is inspiring but not surprising. Hiromi is very communicative by expressing a multitude of emotions with her eyes. Her body language is inviting and she understands how to use it to subtly let you know what’s on her mind. She is also an Akita so stubbornness is part of her DNA! Her ideal adopter should have a calm home environment and be able to provide consistency and a daily routine, where she can continue to expand her horizons. Hiromi gets excited for her daily walks and is a great traveler! She seems non-reactive to other dogs and might do well with a mellow male dog. She is approx 4 yrs old and weighs 57 lbs. She is also crate and house trained. She is ready to pledge her love and devotion! Are you?! If you are interested in adopting, please complete our adoption application found on our website here: https://www.namasteakitarescue.com/how-do-i-adopt There you will find helpful information about the adoption process, FAQ's, etc **PLEASE NOTE, we must first approve an application before a meeting can be arranged between a prospective adopter and our dogs. Story
Hi! I’m Bella! I’m a 4 year old sweet, friendly girl and weigh about 76 pounds. I'm affectionate with and loyal to my humans.  My recent past is quite sad as my dad passed away suddenly and I wasn't sure what would happen to me. Fortunately my dad’s nurse promised him he would find me a new loving home and contacted BAGSR for some help. I am with a great foster family now and settling in while I look for the perfect place to land. A little about me - I have great house manners and don't bother stuff that doesn't belong to me. There may times I'm a little cautious of new people coming into the house but I'm pretty good with dog savvy people. With proper introductions, I get along with other dogs big and small. However, I do like to be in charge of squirrel patrol..I used to live with a cat so if you have a cat we might get along great! Since I have bounced around a bit since my dad died, I have been barky when I'm out for a walk on leash. With a patient adopter, consistency, and some training I will likley settle in and learn to not react to other dogs or small animals when I'm out and about. I lived with a yorkie and we were best buds. I know some basic commands and would love to learn more. Group training would really benefit me as I settle into my new home with my new family. To wrap it up, I'm a pretty sensitive, sweet girl dog. I'll need a dog savvy adopter who will make me feel safe and secure. I’ll be waiting with my foster family in San Jose. If you like this dog and are considering adoption, please take 3-4 minutes and complete our application form at:  https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/42179/generic   Our adoption team will contact you shortly to help with the process. If you are interested in FOSTERING, let us know. This dog may be already be in a foster home however we have other dogs waiting for their own foster home.  BAGSR takes care of our fosters! Story
Hi, I'm Cane. I'm a very handsome Belgian Malinois boy and I"m looking for my new forever home. I'm about a year old and about 55 lbs. A little more about me.....  I'm still a pup and I'm still learning but I'm ready to explore the world with my people. I'm an active youngster but not an over the top kind of guy. I do love a good game of tug and will give it my all! Balls are fun, too, but the tug.......definitely my thing. I love to jump in the car and have some fun and go to new places so that's pretty cool and I'm a good passenger. I can't wait for my next journey as I hear we get to go to really neat places like the beach!! My new friend Jackson told me about this really cool place with a pond.....can't wait.  Oh, I got to play on a "see saw" and boy, that was fun. Wow, there is so much to see, smell and explore........ I know some basics and come when I'm called (most of the time). I like to walk and do pretty well. I will pull just a little sometimes when I see something I want to check out but mostly I'll stay close. I like other dogs of all sizes and a good game of chase with some gentle wrestling is loads of fun. The loud, barky, in-your-face rough ones can be a bit much for me right now so if you know of some nice, easy playmates we could have some fun.  I've seen a few meowers and I'm not sure if I like them or not, very interesting. I haven't met many small humans yet, either, but I think I would like to. So much new stuff coming my way. So, if  your're looking for a boy that loves to play, travel, hike, explore, snuggle and even just chill, I would love to meet you to see if we could be besties. I'm playing in Santa Rosa so come say hi.  You like this dog...now what? Please complete an application at https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/42179/generic.  Our adoption team will contact you by phone or email (watch your spam) to see if it's a match! There is an overwhelming number of dogs who need our help and the more fosters we have, the more dogs we can save. BAGSR covers ALL expenses and we have vacation coverage. All you have to provide is love and a temporary home.  ##1940160##

Story
Thank you to Kathryn Rothberg and Anne Spalasso for sponsoring our Pepper Spice ! We appreciate you all :)Sponsor Pepper by clicking here. Your name will appear on this page as Pepper’s  sponsor and your donation will help pay for nutritious food and supplements and medical expenses. Pepper thanks you! My name is Pepper! A DNA test indicates that I am mostly German shepherd dog with a little bit of Siberian husky. I am faster than my two foster GSDs – playing rough with them is lots of fun. I also have better search skills during “Find It” – I absolutely love this game and playing ball. I ride great in trucks, love going everywhere with my foster dad. I'm a great size for a travel companion. Once I know I can trust you and that you are my person (protector/guardian), you’ll be my world, and I your very affectionate constant companion (shadow) and playmate. From Pepper’s foster dad: Pepper is a spayed 10 month old high energy GSD that will need She will need an experienced, patient, gentle resilient handler with knowledge of R+ training methods, and lots of daily exercise to feel fulfilled/calm and bring out the best in her. She was a little fearful coming into foster. She bonds quickly, but the fear fed into separation anxiety relieved by chewing when left at home, and resource-guarding of the foster in proximity to other dogs, and to anyone approaching when in the vehicle with the foster. The resource guarding behavior and need to chew during absences is receding as she feels more and more secure. She is able to meet new dogs (off or loose leash). She is fearless around big dogs, but sometimes has issues with smaller dogs. Cats are prey, plain and simple. She has full run of the house (minus bedrooms and bathrooms). She uses the dog door, knows and uses her elimination spot outside, has good recall, sit and down. Loves the agility course at the park. Plays hard, then cuddles on the couch after meals. Leash walking, counter surfing, and avoiding general mischief are works in progress. She sleeps in the bedroom on beds on the floor with two GSDs and foster parents. Pepper is a great dog with amazing potential to be amazing if matched with the right person for the long haul. (Think Tommy Lee Jones & Will Smith in Men in Black. WS “Is it worth it?”…TLJ: “Oh yeah, its worth it..if your strong enough”) Pepper is waiting in Livermore. Puppies this young cannot be left alone more than a couple of hours at a time. Please only apply if you can be home with your puppy and have working breed experience as an adult.  You like this dog...now what?
