STAR is a foster-based rescue. All our rescue animals stay in foster homes until adoption. We do not have a central facility. If you want to meet any of our adoptables please submit an application.  If you aren't sure yet what dog/puppy will fit your family, you can still get pre-approved for adoption. Fill out an application letting us know what you are looking for, and then we will help you find a dog that matches your home and lifestyle. All STAR animals come vetted, Up to Date (UTD) on age appropriate shots and testing, spay and neutered (if of age,) and microchipped. AGE DISCLAIMER: Unfortunately, most of the orphaned animals that come into our rescue looking for homes don’t bring birth certificates. Sometimes we know our pets’ ages. Sometimes we don’t. So we make our best guess based on the condition of their teeth and the veterinarians best guess.   BREED DISCLAIMER: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label . Microchips: For the safety of our dogs and peace of mind of our fosters and adopters, STAR microchips all dogs prior to adoption with Petlink Microchips. Please understand that all dogs MUST still wear a collar with ID tags (which include your current information) AT ALL TIMES. Please remember, our foster dogs are extremely important to us-- we will always take any of our dogs back, if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog. Never surrender him/her to a shelter! STAR is a foster-based rescue. All our rescue animals stay in foster homes until adoption. We do not have a central facility. If you want to meet any of our adoptables please submit an application.  Hi! My name is Gnocchi and I'm an extra special boy! My foster mom saved me from being euthanized at an over crowded shelter.  I already know the commands "SIT" "SHAKE" and "DOWN". I love other dogs and I LIVE for playing with stuffed toys! They are my favorite thing in this whole wide world! I especially love squeaky toys! I don't try to escape or dig out of my fenced in yard. I would prefer to have a fenced yard instead of a tie out because they freak me out a little bit, though I'm not afraid of loud noises and my foster mom says I'm a joy to have around and she is really going to miss me when I find me "forever family." If you think that you could be his person, please fill out an application. Thank you! Love, Gnocchi. If you have questions about me you can email my foster mom at heather@savingtailsanimalrescue.org All STAR animals come vetted, Up to Date (UTD) on age appropriate shots and testing, spay and neutered (if of age,) and microchipped. Meet Lively, the prettiest brindle girl with a zest for life that lives up to her name! This sweet pup has been through SO much—she came into the shelter heartbreakingly emaciated, with her ribs poking out, bad skin, and belly troubles. But look at her now! She's glowing, healthy, and ready to leap (literally) into her next chapter.   Lively’s Stats: Activity Level: Jogging buddy? Hiking companion? Adventurer? She’s your girl! Dog Friendly: Yes, with proper intros (she’s a polite lady, after all). Hobbies: Exploring the world, enjoying her newfound energy, and being ridiculously adorable.   The shelter is no place for a dog like Lively. This bouncy, active gal needs SPACE to move, people to love, and a foster, adopter, or rescue to step up and give her the life she deserves. Are YOU the hero who can give Lively the freedom to run, play, and shine? She’s ready to return the favor with loyalty, companionship, and a ton of tail wags. Don’t wait! Contact GCAC Genesee County Animal Control now to meet this spunky gal or share to help her find her match! Let’s give Lively the life she’s been waiting for.   Thank you! STAR is a foster-based rescue. All our rescue animals stay in foster homes until adoption. We do not have a central facility. If you want to meet any of our adoptables please submit an application.  Hi! I'm Pecan! I am female and black with white face. About my family: Born on December 21, 2024, this adorable group of 10 pups entered the world in a special way—via an emergency C-section to save their sweet momma, Hazelnut. Hazelnut is a beautiful fawn and white mixed breed, but dad remains a mystery. What we do know is that all the puppies take after him, with stunning black, brindle, and white coats. Not a fawn color in sight! This lively litter includes 6 boys—Chestnut, Almond, Acorn, Pistachio, Macadamia, and Walnut—and 4 girls—Brazil, Peanut, Cashew, and Pecan. They’ve been thriving since day one and are growing up happy, healthy, and oh-so-adorable. The NUT litter will be ready to head to their forever homes on Valentine's Day, 2025, just in time to fill your heart with love! We are currently accepting pre-approval applications, so don't wait to secure your chance to meet these cuties. Here’s how it works: Once the puppies turn 6 weeks old, we’ll start scheduling meet-and-greets. Approved adopters will work with us to finalize adoption plans. Whether you’re looking for a playful nut to keep you company or a cuddle buddy to warm your heart, one of these pups is sure to be the perfect fit! Ready to meet your new best friend? Fill out a pre-approval application today! P.S. Don’t forget—Sweet Momma Hazelnut will also be looking for her forever home once she’s done raising her babies!  All STAR animals come vetted, Up to Date (UTD) on age appropriate shots and testing, spay and neutered (if of age,) and microchipped.
