Story
Cody is a 2-year-old golden retriever. He is being rehomed because he hasn’t been getting the attention he needs. This guy needs someone to follow from room to room in the house! - He is LOVING and LOVES CUDDLES - Good about nail trimming - CANNOT use a collar on walks – must use a harness (otherwise he’ll develop a cough). - Highly trainable, desperate to please owner - Only barks when necessary, not yappy - You don’t really have to brush him, unlike a long coated golden retriever. He doesn't get tangles. - Needs the company of another dog if a human is unavailable

Pitopotamus

American Pit Bull Terrier Mastiff

Female, 7 yrs 11 mos
Southport, NC
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Not good with cats, Needs special attention, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Pitopotamus is a sweet and goofy lady who has no idea she is a senior. She does have ongoing medical issues including requiring a prescripion diet for her skin. She gets baths once weekly with a medicated shampoo. This routine seems to be working very well for her. She does also have a sensitive stomach so doesnt get treats or human food. She was labeled as dog aggressive, however, she has gone two years with no incidents and has been introduced to several new dogs. She also was labeled as cat aggressive however has only shown mild interest in cats(always separated by kennel door) unless they swat her then she barks. Due to the risks she needs to be in a home with no cats and mild tempered dogs, with an experienced and patient owner she likely could live with a housemate. Never been around children but is quite clumsy so might knock them over. Her adoption fee would go as a negative credit on her account to go towards future medical care. Up to date on vaccines and prevention!

Story
Wash is looking for a new home for his golden years. He has been with his current family since they adopted him at 9 months old in 2016. He is such a good boy, and an excellent alarm system - no one is going to come into your home without him letting you know! He would be the perfect dog for a child free person or family that would like a dog to make them feel safe, but doesn’t want to adopt a large breed. At roughly 25 pounds, he has the bark of a larger dog, but is much easier to handle. He loves to play for short periods, and then nap the day away! His current family loves him so much and wants to see him go to a home where he will be loved and cherished properly. They have recently added a baby to the mix, and although no incidents have occurred, they have noticed some behavioral tendencies that show he is not comfortable with small children. He was attacked while on leash by a small dog when he was around a year old, and is still nervous around small dogs / dogs when leashed.

Story
Shiloh was rescued from a local shelter. She was extremely shy when we pulled her from the shelter and still can be shy when meeting new people or doing new things. She is most comfortable when she knows her surroundings. She is good with calmer, quieter kids and other dogs. She does not tolerate cats. Shiloh loves to cuddle and she's a great kisser! She will do best in a quiet structured environment. Since she doesn't like change, she never has tried to run away! A great dog for someone that works at home and is a couch potato! Story
Rooley was very sick when we first rescued her. She has come a long way! Rooley is a great dog with lots of energy. The boxer in her really comes out when she is playing with other dogs and she "boxes" them with her paws! Rooley loves lots of attention but is also very independent. She loves to go for car rides. She also enjoys long walks. She is good with dogs and kids but not cats. Story
Zeus is usually a pretty mellow guy unless he sees something he wants to chase. He gets along well with dogs he knows but needs slow introductions with new dogs. He is good with kids. Zeus had his back right leg amputated when he was a pup after being hit by a car. His front right paw needs special attention also due to the way it healed. Zeus also has reoccurring bouts with gastritis, so his diet needs to be monitored.
