Story
Allie was born 12/2024. Her parents are both golden retrievers. She is very playful. We have to remove her due to the fact that she is crated more that she is loose. She loves to run and and play. She definitely needs more training than I can provide. She loves to chew shoes so know that. She is up to date on shots but not spayed yet. Since she is a pure breed I wasn't sure if we would breed her. She will come with a large crate and bed if needed.

Story
Bullfrog is a special kind of dog. Think of him as a cat in the form of a dog...a big dog. He is going to need a special kind of person who is going to give him space and allow Bullfrog to just be...well, Bullfrog. If you have ever known a cat, you will understand what we mean by this. Bullfrog was picked up as a stray on the southside and taken in by a humane organization that tried their best to find him a home. He had been there a while (eight months) and so they reached out to us, thinking that a change in scenery may do him some good. In the time that he has been with us we discovered that his teeth were a mess (he had to have 8 of them pulled). He has a degenerative condition in his neck. He does not like having his neck touched. Bullfrog does well in playgroup with the other dogs and is excellent about letting us know when he is in the mood for human company - or he if would rather just hang out on his bed. If you are looking for a hiking buddy, snuggle bug, or a dog that you can wrestle with - that is not Bullfrog. If you are looking for a dog that would make a great companion for another laid back dog, we hope that you might consider Bullfrog. If you looking for a very intelligent dog that needs his space, we encourage you to come meet Bullfrog.Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

Story
Finn is available to meet qualified applicants BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.Please email contact@animalaidsociety.org for more information.Finian was found wandering the streets of Hampton on March 16th, his back leg injured and his head, face, eyes, and mouth burned with acid. This poor boy was left to fend for himself. Luckily, the amazing people who found him were able to get him to The COVE (Center Of Veterinary Expertise) for care and comfort that first night, then he went to stay with our friends at Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter for a few days, and now he's with us. We may never know who did this to Finn, but we do know that even though he's been through a lot... the only time he cries is when he's left alone. Over the past few months, Finn's face has healed, his vision has improved (but will never be great), and he underwent very intricate orthopedic surgery to repair his back leg. Finn desperately wants to be with people, but, he's never really had a chance to be a "normal" dog with loving humans. He's still learning. Sometimes he's fearful, sometimes he's over-excited and mouthy, and sometimes he's a calm snuggly dude. Finn will only be considered for adoption to a home with no children (nobody under the age of 18), and no other pets. He needs an experienced person to help him take his next steps towards recovery.Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

Story
Hooper is HAPPY!There's always a wiggle in tail, a bounce in his step, a glimmer of joyful mischief in his eyes...Hooper just lights up when we come near, and if we happen to have a toy... WOOHOO!!! BEST! DAY! EVER!!!What amazes us isn't how happy Hooper is (very), but that he is determined to stay happy, and to spread happiness, despite being desperately lonely and bored at the shelter.Hooper had a loving home (and excellent house manners!), but the other dog in the family was NOT happy with Hooper's presence, and constantly attacked him.Eventually, the nonstop aggression became too much for Hooper, and the family brought him back to Animal Aid. Now this sweet, healthy, smart, HAPPY hound is confused about why he lost his couch and soft bed and hikes and belly rubs by the TV.He'd really like that back.Give Hooper a home, and he'll give you a lifetime of loyalty, laughter, and happiness.Come be happy with Hooper -- visit him any day between 9am and noon!Interested? Story
They say there is someone for everyone in this world. And at the Shelter, we like to believe that for our dogs as well. And we cling to that thought for our dogs as it gives us hope. And sometimes, hope is all we have for them.Such is the case with our beloved Odie Cakes. He is an amazing dog - fast, perceptive, adorable, loving and devoted. But, he also is very prey driven. And sometimes, when he gets overexcited, he reacts quickly, without thinking.Odie found a home but the atmosphere was just a bit too much for him. Despite the best efforts of the adopter, he realized he could not slow down the pace of his life enough to calm Odie. The BEST news is that since being back with us, Odie has been fabulous. He loves all the volunteers, he has a pal in our Finn (with just through the fence play) and he greets each day and each person with happiness.Odie's days are very calm and predictable at the Shelter and that's what gives him the calmness and peace he needs. Odie doesn't need constant activities or other dogs - Odie just needs a person who will live life with him in a somewhat boring manner. We know Odie's person is out there somewhere. He is so loved by us all and we want nothing more for him than to live his life in happy home. Please SHARE Odie's story so we can reach as many people as possible - maybe his forever person has been searching for him and just didn't know Odie was waiting at our Shelter!Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.
