Story
Turtle is a pure bred Italian Mastiff (Cane Corso) that I adopted from a Humane Society. As a puppy, he was perfect but he developed some dog to dog aggression, especially with other males, and started to display very protective behavioural issues including leash reactivity and being very protectove of his owner, which, while common for the breed, became harder to control. I recently separated and while I try to give him the time, attention, love and exercise that he needs, I'm sure he could be happier in a different setting and he has complicated my life by isolating me because of his protective nature. He CAN learn to trust new people and when I need to travel for work, I board him at kennel that has fallen in love with him and the young female carers there adore him and he shows no aggression what so ever towards the people he gets time to know. They socialize him with the right type of dogs, usually submissive females, and there has never been an issue.

Story
Genie is a special needs black and tan medium Shepherd X. This pretty girl didn't grow up around people, so she's never quite gotten over her fear of them. She needs a very structured environment, as she doesn't handle a change in her routine very well. She's also an escape artist, so she’ll need a secure fenced yard. Best case scenario would be a dog door leading out to fenced area, as she will not tolerate a leash of any kind. We’re looking for someone who has had experience with rescue dogs. When she trusts you, she’ll be happy to hang with you and even likes to be petted. She’s comfortable with dogs. If you think you’re the one that can help Genie become the dog that we all know she can be, please give us a call. We’ll also consider a long term foster with someone who is willing to work with her. The PAWS dog volunteers have done an amazing job helping her see that people aren’t as scary as her life experience has taught her. However, this quiet girl deserves to know what it’s like to know that someone is there for her. She’s worth your effort!! Give PAWS a call to meet her.

Story
Hi, I’m Billy. I’ve been at the shelter since January. I was starting to feel a little down after 4 months, so PAWS found me a foster home. It’s been so much better being back in a home environment, but I know it’s not my forever home. This is what my foster mom wants you to know about me. As I’m a Border Collie X, as expected I’m very smart, I listen well, and I’m eager to please. I’m also a real people person. While I live with cats, I’d prefer to be the only pet. I love car rides and the a/c, but not windows (I know, a bit of a challenge in a car!). I love, love, love to play, especially fetch! I get lonely when I’m home alone, so I’m happy for the comfort of my crate during my alone times. What am I working on? Well, I’m fine-tuning my leash training and working on not jumping on humans of any size when I get excited. I can be protective but am easily redirected if you call my name. Because I have a high prey drive at times, I MUST always wear a muzzle in public. I’m okay with that – it makes me feel safe and secure. I’d love a home with a family that can keep me active and mentally stimulated. I know that home is out there. My foster mom tells me all the time that I’m an amazing dog and deserve a forever home!
