Story
1 and 1/2 year old Estrella is a Shepherd cross looking for a home. She weighs approximately 44 lbs. She is a gorgeous mixed breed dog - lean and sporty looking, with lovely colouring. Estrella and her litter of 5 were found near the SPCA Puerto Vallarta sanctuary in Mexico. Their mum Keisha was tied up and left blind after surviving being poisoned. The puppies were in very poor condition suffering from malnourishment at such a young age. Estrella is now in foster in Kelowna, BC with 2 dogs. She is good with dogs and cats, but can be timid to start. She enjoys walking with her siblings or other friends when exploring new areas. When she would walk with her blind mum she would guide her along and make sure she was safe. Estrella is doing well with the 2 dogs in her foster home, and cuddles up with them in gratitude for them kindly showing her her new world. Estrella is good with people. She'd like a home with a yard, in a non urban centre. She loves the beach, swimming and playing frisbee. If you think you might be a good fit for Estrella please email pvcaadoptions@gmail.com and tell us a little bit about yourself, and we can send you an application, or you can go directly to our application: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw See more here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JIMJsXaANs

Story
**Buster is available for a foster-to-adopt trial only at this time, as his behavioural needs are so complex. This is to fully assess the match between Buster and his potential home. Adoption would be finalized after the foster-to-adopt trial is complete.**Meet Mr. Buster, a sweet but timid soul looking for a patient and understanding forever home. This precious guy has had a ruff start in life, with little to no positive human interactions before finding refuge at our shelter. As a result, Buster is fearful and nervous, lacking confidence and struggling to adjust to the world around him.Despite his past, Buster shows a glimmer of hope and trust, especially towards men, with whom he feels more comfortable. This suggests that with the right approach and environment, Buster has the potential to blossom into a loving and loyal companion.Buster Bar is seeking a quiet home with patient and experienced adopters who can provide a structured routine and gentle guidance to help build his confidence. We believe a household with a quiet, self assured dog his own size could provide him with the companionship and comfort he needs to continue to build his confidence. If you're ready to open your heart and home to a dog in need, Buster is ready to learn what love and kindness truly mean. **Buster is currently on a long-term anxiety medication and potential adopters should be prepared to continue to work closely with their vet regarding this**If you think Buster could be a good fit for you, please contact the Kamloops branch with any further questions or fill out an application below.https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/ Primary Color: Red Brown Weight: 23 Age: 5yrs 5mths 0wks

**Twinkie is available for a foster-to-adopt trial only at this time, as her behavioural needs are so complex. This is to fully assess the match between Twinkie and her potential home. Adoption would be finalized after the foster-to-adopt trial is complete.**Meet Twinkie, a special lady looking for a patient and understanding forever home. This sweet girl has had a rough start in life and is now seeking a calm and loving environment where she can learn to trust and thrive.Twinkie would thrive in a calm, quiet, stable home with guardians who have experience with under socialized and fearful dogs, and are familiar with dog behaviour and body language. A perfect match for Twinkie is someone who is willing to give her the time and space she needs to feel comfortable and confident is a must. She is anxious and skittish, likely due to under socialization, and limited positive human interaction in the past. Twinkie will need a consistent, structured routine and slow introductions to new friends, human and dog! She would do well in a home with a calm and confident dog who gives her plenty of time and space to adjust at her own speed. Because she is fearful, Twinkie would not suit a home with young children who have not yet learned how to interact with an anxious dog. A home with a secure, fenced yard where she can safely explore and play would be very beneficial for her special needs. She is on a long-term medication to help manage her anxiety, and her new family will need to continue this treatment under the guidance of their Veterinarian.Despite her challenges, Twinkie has shown incredible resilience and a desire to connect with people. If you have the patience, understanding, and commitment to help Twinkie overcome her fears and become the brave and confident companion she's meant to be, please consider opening your heart and home to her. Your love and support can make all the difference in the world to this special dog.https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/ Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Fawn Weight: 20.3 Age: 2yrs 4mths 4wks

Story
Say hello to our resident tri-pawd, Starla! Starla is looking for a confident, strong, experienced adopter who understands her needs and is committed to providing a supportive environment where she can thrive. She was hit by a car a few years ago, which caused her to need a leg amputation. She has since healed miraculously, and it has not impacted her ability to get around in the slightest. She is a very strong, active girl and it's important that her potential guardians are able to keep her exercise needs met and provide her with plenty of mental stimulation. Starla has not been given much opportunity to socialize with other dogs, so she has a tendency to be dog-reactive, and needs continued support and training to develop healthy, long-lasting doggie friendships.Despite her challenges, she has shown to be extremely responsive to any training she has received with us so far. She has significantly improved her leash training, and does very well with her redirection training. She is very treat motivated, and eager to please!Starla has a heart of gold and a playful spirit that always shines. She loves showing off her goofy side with a game of fetch or a romp in the yard, followed by snuggling up with her favourite people. Starla has immediately stolen the hearts of everyone here with her goofy smile, amazing resilience, and lovable personality; she's truly one of a kind. If you open up your heart to Starla, in return you'll get the most loyal, goofy, and inspiring companion you could ever want. If you think Starla could be a good fit for you, please contact the Kamloops branch with any further questions or fill out an application below.https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/ Primary Color: Black Brown Secondary Color: White Weight: 27.5 Age: 3yrs 7mths 1wks

Say hello to Winston! This guy is a charming 9-year-old Bullmastiff Staffordshire cross with a heart of gold and a strong desire for affection. Winston has a zest for life like none other - he is always happy to go out for a walk, a game of fetch, or to just curl up next to his favourite person on the couch! He is a very active dog and would benefit from going to a household that can take him on plenty of adventures! Winston has spent his entire life with a loving family but unfortunately was surrendered because his exuberance was a bit much for young children. Despite this, Winston is incredibly loving and playful, with a heart that's always ready to love and be loved. He is now searching for a forever family who can appreciate his boundless affection and playful spirit.Due to his excitable nature, Winston would thrive in a home without small children, but older sturdy kids might be a good match.
