Story
Meet Fanta, one of the sweetest Pointers out there. She is moderately to highly active, is 18 months old, weighs 33 lbs and is Black & White. Fanta was found as a stray in Kos, Greece. We are not sure of her lineage, but best guesses are an English and French Pointer mix. Fanta is a very happy girl that gets along with everyone she meets. She enjoys playing and running with her foster canine siblings, she is most happy when her foster family is outside with her watching her run and pointing out the birds & squirrels.  Fanta is very good inside. After a good run outside she will relax in her crate or on a recliner or the couch. Fanta has not had an accident in the house and will go to the door when she needs to go out, if we do not see her, she does get very active, running from us to the door. She has met a toddler, she wanted to give kisses and be as close as possible. We really see Fanta’s timid side with larger, louder groups of people, she will back off and watch from a distance and let people come to her. She is afraid of loud noises and bangs. Because of this, Fanta is being adopted as a companion pet only. She is living in a multi-dog and cat home without any issues. Fanta would do best with a stable family that keeps a schedule, she likes routine. Because Fanta is timid, it is encouraged that she is taken to formal obedience classes and continue to work on socializing her to new environments. She will need a home with a safe and secure place to run; she has been tested with a 5-foot chain-link fence without issues. Fanta will need a physical fence. Since she is timid, she will not be able to go to a home with an invisible fence. Fanta is microchipped, up to date on vaccines, spayed, heartworm negative and is on monthly preventive. She is being fostered in Iowa. Blackie is one of Roxy's puppies. Roxy was rescued as a pregnant momma with police help and gave birth to her puppies in a shelter in Lamia, Greece. They were born in May and are ready to travel to their fosters. In order for them to travel, they need a foster or foster to adopt home in the USA, Canada but we also consider adopters in Greece. If you are interested in fostering or fostering to adopt, please see https://www.newbeginningsrescue.org/apply for our application form! This dog originates from Greece where Leishmaniasis is endemic. They tested negative before coming to the USA, but the parasite can remain dormant in the system for many years, so potential adopters must be willing to commit to annual testing for the next 7 years. Typically, the test needs to be sent to a special lab, but any regular vet can draw the blood and send it to the lab. The cost of the test seems to vary widely by area, but is approximately $150-$250. or if your vet is willing to send the test to a veterinary college lab, cost can be as low as $80. ##2185760##

Story
Socialization: Debbie is very shy around men and new people. She is very attached to her foster mom and will run to her when approached by new people. She has been in her foster home for about 3 weeks and she will still hide from the dad and teenage boy in the house. This is slowly improving but her new family will need to continue to work on her confidence in these situations. She is excellent with the resident dogs, one female and one male, she is very submissive and eager to play with them. There are no cats in the foster home, but Debbie’s foster mom is a vet tech and she has taken her to work several times. Debbie just ignores the resident house cats there. Training: Debbie can sit for a treat or her meal. She will come most of the time when her foster mom calls for her. She will counter surf if there is something left out. Debbie is working on potty training. She is very close to being fully trained but does not ask to go outside just yet. We have crated her a few times when we are gone for an extended period of time and she seems to do well but did have some drooling when we got home. Activity requirements: Debbie enjoys some daily zoomies in the fenced yard. She is working on leash training and would benefit from an Easy Walk harness. I think moderate exercise would be sufficient for her. Fence requirements: Because of Debbie’s low confidence in social situations, I think a fenced yard would be best or daily walks but she loves to run around in a fenced yard. I think a dog park would be overwhelming. Personality: Debbie is a tale of two dogs. In the morning, before the rest of the family is up, Debbie is a playful silly setter who loves to play fetch with her toys, wrestle with her doggy housemates and dance all around her foster mom and seek out couch snuggles. Once the rest of her family gets up she becomes shy and nervous. She will still allow the other family members to pet her but will hide if she can. When visitors come to the house, she will retreat to her foster mom’s lap or hide under the kitchen table. I hope with enough time and patience she will learn that people are safe. Health history: Debbie is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and on monthly heartworm prevention. She has a healed fracture in her front left leg, there is a bumpy callous there but does not seem to affect her mobility. She came to rescue very thin and is slowly putting weight on. She has spondylosis in her lower back. This shouldn’t necessarily affect her day to day life but may result in some stiffness in her back end. She will need a good diet, possibly some joint supplements and to keep a nice lean weight. Her next leishmaniasis test is due by September 2025. Foster comments: We do not know what Debbie’s life was like before rescue but it seems that she did not have many positive experiences with humans and is slowly learning they can be trusted. She is a very gentle soul and needs a home with other dogs to help her build her confidence. Her adoptive family will need to understand that it will take a lot of patience and positive rewards for her to feel comfortable at a new home. Foster location: St. Louis, MO This dog originates from Greece where Leishmaniasis is endemic. ##2213405##

Story
HAULT! If you are looking for a hug-a-bull, kiss-a-bull, irrisist-a-bull, and totally adopt-a-bull guy, I am the guy for you! You might be wondering where I get a name such as Clovis (meaning renowned fighter); well when I was found I had some pretty bad injuries and was severely emaciated (for real I was basically a skeleton with skin and fur). Thank goodness MAS was able to take me in and nurse me back to health. It was pretty touch-and-go for a while, and I almost didn't make it...but with the help of MAS, we fought for my life and overcame the odds. Though I am "out of the woods" as they say, some TLC is still needed (and wanted,...I want all your cuddles!). Despite having such a traumatic past, I am such a baby dog. I LOVE people of all ages, I am such a happy boy, which just goes to show how resilient and positive I really am (except with cats...I am positive I am not a fan of those things). I have done well meeting some of the other dogs at MAS as well. I am just so ready to find a place that I am welcomed as part of a family, and feel safe that I will never have to go through anything like my past again. I have all the love in the world to give, if only I am given a chance. If you would like to give Clovis a chance, submit your adoption application to start the process! DOB: 6/13/2018 For safety's sake, we are looking for homes with physical fenced in areas. Please fill out our online adoption survey at www.mackenzies.info/adopt/adoption-survey-application/

Story
Beings that I came from a pretty rough background, I am a bit nervous with newbies…But once I trust you, buckle up and get ready for 80lbs of pure smoochiness and love! Just imagine the joy of having me leap into your life, but fair warning, I will test your balance as I lean in for never-ending snuggle sessions! Oh yeah, HOG ALERT! I prefer trotting through life with human buddies rather than any fluffy roommates, so prepare for all my affection to be solely yours! Older teenage humans are my favorite playmates, being a pretty big girl, I would hate to accidentally knock over little itty-bitty little ones. I am basically a professional squirrel exterminator, so having a good size yard for us to have big fun together would be a dream come true! One of my favorite things in the whole world (besides marinating in your affection) is running and playing around in the pond at the Sanctuary. I just love getting all spunky, sniffing out little critters, and zooming after toys! If you are interested in adopting me, put in an application at the MAS website (linked below)! Story
"Already know you that which you need" - Yoda (the wise little green master from Star Wars) The one that you need is definitely me. I am more of a young padawon Yoda, in training to be your best friend! Even though I don’t hear much of anything, love and play are universal languages that we can figure out together! You could say I am a very social guy, I have met some other dogs and cats at MAS and have done awesome. I can get a little rambunctious though, so I would probably be best in a home without kids. Not every dog appreciates my hardcore play style either, but I have made several doggy friends hanging out at MAS. I am ready, willing, and able to use the force to take on adventures and overcome the evils of your stressful day! I can be an absolute goofball when I am outside playing (I love to be outdoors romping around in the yard). But I also love to get attention and curl up afterwards, maybe we can movie marathon with the best movies of all time…you guessed it, Star Wars! If Star Wars isn’t your thing though (we will agree to disagree), I am happy to hang out with you anyways and soak up your affection while you watch whatever else. "No greater gift there is, than a generous heart" - Yoda An adoption application you must fill out today! DOB: 5/1/2021 For safety's sake, we are looking for homes with physical fenced in areas.
