Searching for your new best friend that will give you all of their attention? Good news, Whiskey is looking for the exact same thing! Whiskey is hoping to find a furrever family that shares his love of adventure and play. ~ Whiskey is looking for a home that will keep him active and give him plenty of enrichment.~ This guy always has lots to say, so he is looking for a house with no shared walls so he does not upset his new neighbours!~ Whiskey would like his new family to be ready to take him to at least 1 training class or sign up for a GoodPup Scholarship at the time of his adoption to help work on his basic training, manners and socialization.~ He does not understand how big and goofy he is, due to his lack of manners and his size he is looking for a home with older children.~ Whiskey seems to have characteristics that resemble hound type breeds. His new family should do some hound research before bringing this sweet boy home.~ Whiskey is looking for a home with no small animals or cats due to possible prey drive.Regularly Exhibited Behaviours Noticed:- High Energy- Vocal- Prey drive- Jumpy- Mouthy- Under-SocializedExplanation of Behaviours:- A young dog who is very high energy and will need a lot of time, attention, training, exercise, and enrichment daily to do well.- He will need to continue to be socialized in a safe and proper way to help him up for success in the future.- He will need to have continued work on his basics as well as more difficult behaviours such as jumping and mouthing.- He can be vocal at times, especially when seeking attention. This dog would benefit from:An active home- An adult home or family with older children- No small animals or cats- No apartments or homes with shared walls- Lots of training and socialization- Lots of time and attentionTraining needs/behaviours that need to be worked with for this dog:- Basic training- Socialization- Work on manners and self-control (including mouthing and jumping)Field trip program:The Field Trip with Whiskey was a lot of fun. We went on a long walk and spent time playing in the backyard. He never wanted to stop! He was good in the house. He didn't even attempt to go on the furniture. He likes catching balls and running around, so he would love a backyard! He is a good boy, with tons of energy! He will make a good best friend!**For more information on any behavior's stated above, please check out our behavior factsheet: https://kwsphumane.ca/BehavioursandDefinitions**Please remember that animals are coming back from foster care to the centres for their meetand greets. Story
Meet Kili, the lovable and lively large breed mix who's eagerly searching for his forever home! This handsome pup is bursting with energy, ready to embark on adventures and play to his heart's content. At first, Kili may seem a bit reserved, but once he warms up, his true, playful personality shines through.~ Kili is looking for a home with a single person, couple, or family with older dog savvy children.~ Kili thrives on long walks and enjoys nothing more than frolicking with his canine pals. His enthusiasm for outdoor activities knows no bounds, making him the perfect companion for active individuals or families who love to explore the great outdoors.~ However, it's important to note that Kili can be a bit shy and nervous initially, especially in new environments or with unfamiliar faces. Patience and understanding will go a long way in helping him feel comfortable and secure in his new surroundings.~ While Kili's heart is full of love, he does have a tendency to view small animals, like cats, as toys due to his high prey drive. Therefore, he's seeking a home without cats or other small animals to ensure everyone's safety and happiness.~ One of Kili's biggest challenges is his high separation anxiety, which can lead to destructive behavior and vocalizations when left alone. To help him cope, we highly recommend crate training and providing plenty of mental and physical stimulation. A home with someone who can spend lots of time with him or where he won't be left alone for long periods would be ideal for Kili. No apartments due to his vocal nature.~ For Kili's continued growth and well-being, we require that his new family commit to three in-person training sessions, either through GoodPup scholarship or other in person positive training services, prior to his adoption. These sessions will help Kili build confidence, learn important skills, and strengthen the bond between him and his new family. In summary, Kili is a wonderful companion who's ready to bring joy and excitement into the lives of his future adopters. With the right environment, patience, and training, Kili will undoubtedly blossom into the loyal and loving companion he's meant to be. If you're ready to open your heart and home to this special pup, please consider giving Kili the chance he deserves.**For more information on any behaviours stated above, please check out our behaviour factsheet: https://kwsphumane.ca/BehavioursandDefinitions**Please remember that animals are coming back from foster care to the centres for their meetand greets. Meet Maizy, a vibrant and affectionate large mixed-breed dog with a zest for life and a heart full of love! Maizy is looking for an active and energetic home where she can thrive and be her best self. ~ This lively girl loves to run, play, and explore, making her the perfect companion for a family with older kids (16+) who can match her enthusiasm and keep up with her boundless energy.~ Maizy's ideal home is one without other dogs, as she tends to be reactive around them. She would do best as the only dog in the household, ensuring she gets all the attention and love she deserves. If you're looking for a loyal and devoted furry friend who will be your one and only dog, Maizy is the dog for you. Her playful and loving nature will bring joy and laughter to your home.~ While Maizy has a lot of wonderful qualities, she does need some help with her manners. She is working on basic obedience and needs a patient and dedicated owner to continue her training. Maizy also experiences separation anxiety, so she'll need someone who can provide her with the time and training to feel secure and comfortable when left alone. To help her transition smoothly, Maizy will require enrollment in two in-person training sessions or a Goodpup scholarship to give her the best start in her new home.~ Because of her high energy levels and need for space to roam, Maizy is not suited for apartment living. A spacious environment will help her burn off energy and stay happy and healthy. If you have a big backyard and love spending time outdoors, Maizy will be your perfect match. If you think your family can provide Maizy with the active and loving home she needs, submit an application for her and see if she's the right fit for you. With some training and a lot of love, Maizy will make a fantastic addition to a home that can keep up with her spirited personality. Story
Meet Wrangler, a charming large mix-breed puppy with a heart full of love and a future as big as his paws. This sweet boy is destined to grow into a magnificent companion, but he needs the right family to help him flourish.~ Wrangler is a bundle of affection, always ready to snuggle and shower you with puppy kisses. However, new places and environments can make him a bit nervous, so he's searching for a calm yet active home where he can feel secure and loved.~ A serene, consistent environment is essential for Wrangler to build his confidence. Apartments aren't suitable for him due to his nervous nature, so he's looking for a house with a secure yard (Not required but ideal) where he can play and explore without the stress of close neighbors and constant noise.~ Wrangler would do best with older, dog-savvy children who can understand his needs and interact with him gently. An active family that enjoys outdoor adventures and playtime would be perfect for him, but they also need to provide the calm and stability he craves in his everyday life.~ Wrangler is still learning his leash manners and basic obedience, so he requires three in-person training sessions to help him overcome his nervousness and become the well-behaved pup he has the potential to be. With the right guidance and patience, Wrangler will grow into a confident and loyal companion. If you have a loving home and are ready to invest in Wrangler's training and development, he will reward you with endless love and loyalty.
