Story
Harlow the 76 lbs lap dog! I said what I said, ok? Harlow is a 1 year old, male, Australian Cattle Dog/Pit Mix. This sweet, sweet boy is unfortunately, looking for a new home. You see, Harlow has springs on his feet. These springs sometimes land him on the other side of the fence where he doesn’t belong and his family is having a hard time keeping him contained. Harlow LOVES dog friends and he just leaves to go seek out canine companions to romp around with. So, he’s looking for a home with a 5-6 ft privacy fence and a canine companion that likes to wrestle and play. Harlow does well with the children in his home, however, he isn’t the most social guy and can be growly and on edge with new people, so we feel a home without a lot of comers and goers would be best for him. He warms up, but his humans should be mindful of his skepticism and help him learn to trust accordingly. He’s house trained, crate trained, and did we say a lap dog? Harlow has attended doggie day care and he LOVES it! However, he was shy and nervous with the staff but when they finally let him with the other dogs he lit up! Harlow is in foster in Thornton, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/harlow. Story
Poor Kino was found by a dumpster in Texas. We don’t know how long he was on the streets, BUT we do know the street life was no life for him. He loves people and seems to have lived in a home at some point in his life. He is around 3 years old, about 55 pounds, and we assume a heeler type mix. After he was found by the dumpster, he ended up at a high-kill shelter in Houston and was euthanasia listed for space before he came to MHCR. He was very sick when first rescued; he was underweight and battling an infection. After some TLC in his foster home and various medical screens and antibiotics, he is doing much better now and is ready to find his family! Kino has done well with various other dogs, and he likes kids. He likes to play but is also low-maintenance in that he is crate trained, quiet, good on leash, and sleeps through the night. Pretty much perfect, right? Kino is a very smart, loving, and attentive dog who deserves the best from here on out. Please apply if you think there is space for him in your family! Story
Buck is a stunning, 1 year old, Red Heeler mix looking for an active and fun home! This medium sized guy embodies what all you working dog breed owners have come to love about the breed. He’s smart, loyal, food motivated, and wants to be with his people. And let us not forget to mention – he has the fastest wiggling nub tail in the west! Buck would love a home with a large, fenced in yard and humans that find it as fun to learn new tricks as he does. Buck would love to have his own sand pit so he can bury his toys but that’s not a requirement for adoption. Your flower beds will do 😉. Buck is dog friendly and best suited with dogs his size-ish. He likely needs a feline free home. Story
Appa the Amazing is ready to find her forever home. This sweet, silky soft, girl is around 4.5-5 months old. She’s a pup through and through but man oh man is she smart! Appa came from a small town in New Mexico. She came down with parvo, like a lot of pups do, but made a super quick recovery and found her way to Colorado. She’s amazing with dogs, is catching on quickly to home living, and we were told she’s even good with cats. Appa is learning about leash walking, doggie doors, and crate training. She enjoys playing with toys and thinks the toy bin is the best thing ever. Appa is in foster in Denver, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/appa You can apply for our wonderful dogs at https://www.milehighcanine.org/adopt/adoption-application/.

Story
Kara is a 4-5 year old, Australian Cattle Dog who is so deserving of her forever home. Kara was surrender in Texas in 2021 and spent the last 4 years in an outdoor run waiting for a foster to take her in. She’s a nervous girl who can be nippy when she feels scared and cornered, but after a few days time, she learns to trust and is a typical velcro heeler. Kara is potty trained and crate trained but also does well free roam in a room when her foster is away. Kara is indifferent towards dogs and the cats in her foster home. She does enjoy her space away from them and would love being the only dog in her forever home. Kara’s favorite thing is snuggling in bed or on the couch with her foster mom and is persistent in her demands for as many pets/scratches that you will give her. Her ideal forever home will be one with no kids, a single person or couple and a home with not a lot of visitors. If interested, apply today! Kara is being fostered in Colorado Springs, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/kara/. Story
Cute is a breed, isn’t it? Seriously, look at that face and brown ear! Ian the cutest little waddler, with super soft fur. He’s approx 6-7 months old and we believe he’s a heeler mix (maybe border collie or Pyrenees?). Ian’s needs are pretty simple—he wants to belong and be loved. If you do those two things, you will have a loyal, loving and sweet friend for life. He has proven to be very adaptable. As long as you set and consistently show him what the rules are, he will quickly learn how to live in your home. He is an intelligent and curious little guy. Ian is a sweet and friendly boy. There is not a mean bone in his body. He isn’t destructive either—even his stuffed toys are safe. He’s still young so needs things in his mouth, but will happily chew on whatever toys and bones you direct him toward. Ian understands what “nope” means and will stop doing something that you teach him is not OK. He “speaks” when “spoken to,” but he’s a pretty quiet dude. His favorite things are meal time, his collection of Nylabones (he is a puppy after all), his pack, and playing in the snow. At his foster home, he has loved having dogs to play with and enjoys a fenced yard, we request both in his forever home. Ian is still young and has things to learn. His foster family has been teaching him important words like, “come,” “sit,” and “potty.” He’s mastering his house training and leash walking skills and he sleeps quietly all night without any accidents in his crate. Ian is being fostered in Aurora, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/ian/. Peggy a very sweet girl, who loves nothing more than to play and be with you once she settles in! She is a bit shy at first but warms up fast and is full of cuddles, play and love once she gets to know you!!! She does great with other dogs in her foster home, is non reactive around cats, and is doing great with crate training. Since she is just a youngster still, she will need a family with lots of patience and willingness to work with puppy training to help him gain some confidence and skills needed to become the best canine citizen she can be!
