Story
Daisy, an adorable Bullmastiff mix, is the smallest of her litter, weighing just 23kg, while her big brother is double her size!! Daisy grew up in an environment with limited human interaction, resulting in her being more comfortable with dogs and somewhat aloof towards them. She would likely benefit from a confident canine friend in the home. This under-socialization with people has led to some "stranger danger," making her best suited for an experienced dog owner who practices positive reinforcement training and is willing to work with an Animal Kind trainer.Once Daisy overcomes her initial fears, her sweet personality truly blossoms. She loves neck and ear scratches, enjoys cuddling in your lap, and giving gentle kisses. Her most endearing feature is her little snaggle-tooth, which always brings a smile to our faces. Daisy has a fondness for stuffies and loves chasing balls, and playing exuberantly with her big brother. With a slow introduction, she would likely do well with new dog friends. Daisy enjoys her walks and prances like a little deer, taking in all the new sights.Daisy has shown some stress and anxiety in the shelter, but it is believed that these issues will significantly diminish with a consistent routine in a stable home. Loud noises and sudden movements can startle her, so she is looking for an adult-only home without other animals until her confidence improves.Prospective adopters must submit and have their applications approved before meeting Daisy, as her nervousness around new people requires controlled introductions. Walk-in meet and greets without an approved application will not be accommodated. If you have the experience and patience to help Daisy overcome her challenges, you will be rewarded with all the love she has to offer once she feels safe and secure.https://spca.bc.ca/survey/dog-adoption-application-cowichan/ Primary Color: Tan Secondary Color: White Weight: 22.4 Age: 2yrs 9mths 0wks

Story
Meet Ellie, the lovably wrinkly diva! At almost three years old, this gorgeous bloodhound is on the hunt for a special forever home. With her soulful eyes and velvety ears, Ellie is 85 pounds of pure love. While she walks nicely on a leash, her detective nose can lead her on unexpected adventures!Ellie's high energy, strong prey drive, and love of "singing" are quintessential bloodhound traits. She'd thrive in a home without small children, close neighbors, or free-ranging small animals. Though she enjoys the company of other dogs, Ellie's preference is to be the star of the show, avoiding any sibling rivalries over toys and treats. This resilient girl has battled severe allergies, resulting in ear and eye infections. She'll need ongoing medication and a special diet to keep her comfortable. Ellie's intelligence and food motivation make training sessions a blast, especially with positive reinforcement techniques.Ellie's dream home is with experienced guardians familiar with large scent hounds. Her future family should be ready for lots of snuggles and serenades. If you're ready to welcome Ellie's love and loyalty into your life, please fill out the application below. She's eager to meet her perfect match!https://spca.bc.ca/survey/dog-adoption-application-cowichan/ Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Chestnut Weight: 36.28 Age: 3yrs 0mths 1wks

Story
9 year old Finn (Finny) of Victoria is looking for a home. This handsome boy, weighing 60lbs may be a lab x shepherd. Finn is a sweet, handsome, sensitive, smart boy who is dedicated and affectionate with his people. He loves tummy rubs, ear scratches, back rubs and will request more with a gentle paw or moan. Finn loves spending time with his people but is good alone. Finn is timid with strangers and prefers his home to be a sanctuary for his family. He is afraid of young kids and cats. Finn is good with dogs - every single dog, he shows nothing but kindness for. Finn doesn't pull on leash and has good recall. Finn is food motivated, house trained, and knows his standard commands. He loves a backyard where he can relax, sun bathe and play tag. Finn has a big bark but only uses it to alert you to visitors, doorbells, and cats. Finn was found as a very young puppy in parking lot with his mum and 10 siblings in Mexico and spent his first 10 months in a shelter which is why strangers and loud noises are scary. He likes a safe quiet space to rest and call his own when things are too hectic. He is looking for a compassionate, quiet home with a yard… a squeak toy, stuffy, bone, or even some paper to shred wouldn’t hurt either ! Story
Sweet Keisha is looking for a home. She is 40 lb shepherd x lab with a kind and brave soul, who just melts into the arms of those kind enough to give her affection. Keisha was found in Puerto Vallarta, skinny and hungry, trying to care for and protect her litter of 6 puppies. She had dug a small hole to hide them as she stood over them, chained up, until thankfully the angels of the SPCA PV came to rescue them. After her rescue, they learned that Keisha was also blind, they believe from poisoning. Keisha's pups all inherited her kind soul and affection for humans. And we hope that Keisha herself will find her own happiness. Naturally because she can't see, she enjoys sniffari walks, to take in the world around her, and would love a safe property to explore her world in between cuddles with a family that this time would love her. If you think you may be able to give Keisha a home, we'd love to hear from you at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com. You can also go directly to our application here: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw
