Story
Considering adopting? The first step is to complete our online Adoption Application at http://forgetmenotshelter.org/Application Please do not call the shelter; do the application first. Lucy, a border collie mix, was born 11/6/22 and weighs about 50 lbs. Lucy was returned to the shelter after her original adopters sadly determined she just wasn't the right fit for them, nor they for Lucy. 5/26/24 marked ONE YEAR that Lucy has been waiting for the perfect partner in crime -- uh, we mean, FUN. This sleek bodied girl is full of energy and would love a home with an active person who would like to take her hiking or on other outdoor adventures. Lucy has spent a lot of her life in the shelter so she will need an experienced dog owner to teach her the rules of her new home. She does very well with her routine here, thankfully exhibiting zero kennel stress, and we believe she will adapt well in a patient home that could also provide her with a routine to follow. She has a touch of "stranger danger" but warms up quickly. Lucy gets along with most other dogs but we believe she would do best as an only dog in the home, with friends outside of the home to play with. Lucy tends to be protective of her toys while she is playing, and needs a person who can respect her "me-time" with toys and understand she isn't one to share. Lucy views cats as mobile squeaky toys, so no cats in her family please - just human(s) and Lucy would be perfect. She is kennel trained, potty trained, and has learned commands such as sit and wait. We do not recommend children for this high energy girl. Lucy is a busy girl with high intelligence. She loves learning new things, and wants a go-go-go lifestyle of hiking or agility or just plain PLAY time. We just know the right home is out there waiting for her! All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Lucy is a suggested minimum of NO FEE - LONG TIMER (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!

Story
Considering adopting? The first step is to complete our online Adoption Application at http://forgetmenotshelter.org/Application Please do not call the shelter; do the application first. Angel, a 38# mixed breed girl, arrived as a stray and was never claimed. We estimate her birthday to be June of 2023. What breeds are in there? Hopefully you'll do a DNA test after adoption so you can let us know! Maybe some shepherd... or border collie... or who knows what! Angel says she is the perfect recipe for a dog, all the parts blended smoothly. Angel's bubbly and enthusiastic personality mirrors her inner puppy. She wants to play and is still learning how to properly ask for the attention she seeks. Staff and volunteers have done a great job beginning to teach her not to jump or bark when she is attention seeking; this work will need to continue in her forever home. Angel is house trained and will bark and let us know when she needs to go out. She gets along well with all the dogs in the shelter but views kitties more as animated squeaky toys than friends, so no kitties in Angel's family. We have introduced Angel to children past the toddler stages, and she does well. We don't recommend babies or toddlers as her habit of jumping for attention could turn toddlers into bowling pins, oops. All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Angel is a suggested minimum of $125 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! Story
Considering adopting? The first step is to complete our online Adoption Application at http://forgetmenotshelter.org/Application Please do not call the shelter; do the application first. Introducing the Amphibian litter! These cuties and their mama Rogue transferred over from a rescue in a neighboring county, as they were running out of space and we had a puppy room open. They were born 4/20/24, mama appears to be some sort of Australian shepherd mix (maybe some kelpie in there?), and papa is a mystery. Probably something a little bigger than Rogue... maybe a different type of shepherd, maybe a husky mix, if you adopt and do a DNA test, PLEASE let us know the results, we are so curious! UPDATE: We learned (long story) that papa is a purebred husky who weighs about 50 pounds. Based on their weights at 9 weeks of age, we would expect these pups to be between 45-60 pounds when fully grown. Salamander is the largest; the other 3 are very close in size. Last photo is of mama Rogue, who weighs 32#. This litter includes: FROG, male, blonde, 9# on 6/21 NEWT, male, fluffy tricolor with 2 blue eyes, 9# on 6/21 SALAMANDER, male, smooth tricolor with 2 blue eyes, 10# on 6/21 AXOLOTL, female, smooth tricolor with 1 brown eye and 1 partly blue eye, 9# on 6/21 Puppies require a lot of human interaction, and all puppies will benefit from obedience training and full immersion in their human household. These pups' ideal homes will have someone who can exercise them with a couple of energetic walks each day, plus commitment to training them how to be the best dogs they can be. They hope to have very few hours per day when they will be without the companionship of a human or other pet, and will reward their forever people with boundless love and loyalty! All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee is a suggested minimum of $150 (more gratefully accepted).
Introducing the Winnie the Pooh litter! These adorable mixed-breed cuties were a surprise addition from our shelter dog formerly known as Princess (now known as Winnie). When Princess went in for spay just prior to adoption - SURPRISE! Her kind adopter named her Winnie and has been waiting patiently for her pups, born 5/16/24, to be weaned - almost there. All will be ready to head home by July 25, yay. They should do just fine with other dogs, cats, and children. The pups in this litter are: EEYORE, male, light brindle with black snout, 7.6# on 6/24 - a bit timid/submissive HEFFELUMP, male, black/white with brindle ankles, 7# on 6/24 - very outgoing KANGA, female, tricolor, 6.2# on 6/24 - ADOPTED OWL, female, tricolor, 6.6# on 6/24 - a bit timid/submissive PIGLET, female, white with black, 5.4# on 6/24 - ADOPTED POOH, male, primarily tan tricolor, 6.4# on 6/24 - ADOPTED RABBIT, female, black/white, 6.4# on 6/24 - curious ROO, female, dark brindle, 5.8# on 6/24 - playful TIGGER, male, black/brindle, orange ears, 7.8# on 6/24 - easygoing The last photo is of mama Winnie, who is also just listed as a "mixed breed" - honestly, we have no clue. Please do a DNA test and let us know! Since we need a breed to list them with, we are basing guesses strictly on appearance. From their weights on 6/24, we anticipate these pups will grow to between 45# - 65# when full grown (mama is only 35# though). Piglet and Roo are the smallest, while Eeyore, Heffelump, and Tigger are the largest. Puppies require a lot of human interaction, and all puppies will benefit from obedience training and full immersion in their human household. These pups' ideal homes will have someone who can exercise them with a couple of energetic walks each day, plus commitment to training them how to be the best dogs they can be.
