Story
Charlie is a five year old Yellow Lab/Amstaff Terrier mix. He is a rescue dog from Animal Allies, Duluth, MN. I re-homed him in the Spring of 2020. Charlie is very active. He likes to play tug-a-rope, disc toss, and ball chasing. He would do well with people who like to walk/hike. An ideal setting for Charlie would be in the countryside, or a large fenced-in yard. Although Charlie sometimes has trouble "shaking hands" with other dogs, or can be anxious around strangers, he does get along with other dogs. Currently, Charlie is around children and family friends, getting along well with them. Charlie is a very loving, loyal dog, and would be a great companion for you.

Story
Huckleberry is being re-homed due to no fault of his own. Our other dog was accidentally hit with a boat trailer and had to have surgery which is requiring a lengthy recovery. I feel it is best for him to be re-homed with a family who can give him the attention that he needs while also having a companion to run and play with. He is high energy and loves to play/run and interact with other dogs and his people. He is friendly with kids and other dogs of all sizes ranging from Yorke to fellow doodle. We have a cat and he has no issues. He is neutered, up to date on shots, and no food aggression or special needs. He is house trained and does well being inside when we go to work. He loves to be pet and right next to his people. He sometimes forgets he is 60lbs, not 6lbs. Huckleberry does great in the car and would make a great adventure companion as he stays close even off leash on runs and is easily called back. We just want him to go to a loving family who can help him live his best life.

Story
He's a stray I found at a construction site where I work. He's a really sweet boy that needs some care and love. His ears, teeth, paws, and fur seem to be in good condition. I think he's an older dog, but I can't tell for sure. I don't think he's house-trained, but I have yet to have any issues with him in my dorm. He hasn't destroyed anything or peed on anything.

Meeko

Siberian Husky Husky

Male, 1 yr
Hackensack, MN
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Good with kids, Good with dogs, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Meeko came to the shelter back in October as a young puppy. He was surrendered due to the family having too much going on in the home and being unable to properly care for him. He lived with kids of all ages in the home and did well with them. He was adopted and retuned a few months later due to the health of the owner. The adopter reported that he will chew things up and become destructive in the house if not crated when left alone. We are unsure if Meeko has met cats. He does very well in playgroup with other dogs and even has a few yard mates. Check out our Facebook page (Paws and Claws Rescue & Resort) to see videos of Meeko in playgroup. Meeko has shown resource guarding here in shelter-he's a total foodie and will snap if his food is messed with. Staff have worked with him by holding the food dish while he eats and he has done very well. His adopters should know to respect his space while he eats or chews on any sort of bone. Because he is so food motivated and so smart, teaching tricks and commands should be easy! Although Meeko likes to give us a hard time with his typical husky attitude, he has quickly become a staff favorite here and loves getting pets and affection. If you're looking for a rewarding adoption with lots of love and a bit of training, Meeko might be the pup for you. Call 218-675-7297 for more info.

Story
Milo came to the shelter as a transfer from Texas a while ago. Milo is a huge snuggle bug that doesn't know a thing about personal space. We believe he is a Boxer mix. He has spent some time up in the office with staff and doesn't seem to mind the office cat. We are unsure if he has met kids, we think he would be friendly towards them but may knock little ones over. He is an 80lb excitable and wiggly boy! Milo has done amazing with other dogs in shelter. Check out our Facebook page (Paws and Claws Rescue & Resort) to see videos of Milo in playgroup. Milo is crate trained but could use some work on the leash. He does best with a nose loop style leash, it really helps his pulling. A staff member brought Milo home for the night and reported he was wonderful. He was well mannered in the house and found a quiet spot to nap most of the time. He likes to be close and is always in the mood for a cuddle puddle. He is also great at keeping any squirrels out of the yard! Call 218-675-7297 for more info. Here is a note from Milo's foster in Texas: Milo is super friendly towards humans and dogs. I don’t think he has a mean bone in his body. Our dog can be picky with dogs he interacts with and Milo responded very well to our dog’s space and reactions. He needs a little training on the leash and on his jumping manners but he’s super trainable and wants to please. Responds well to treats as motivation.

Smiley

Husky Siberian Husky

Female, 2 yrs 7 mos
Hackensack, MN
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Good with kids, Good with dogs, Not good with cats, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Smiley came to the shelter as a stray, she is super friendly with everyone here. The finder's say she did well with their kids and that she has killed chickens. She is not fully house broke so will need a home who can help teach her. Although Smiley is crated trained, she is not a fan of being in her kennel at the shelter. She seems to be anxious in her kennel as her husky instincts want to keep on running! She is not reliable off leash and would love a fenced yard. Smiley does lovely with other dogs as well. Check out our Facebook page (Paws and Claws Rescue & Resort) to see videos of Smiley in playgroup! She also loves to talk and howl to you when she's excited. She has the sweetest little "awooo"! Call 218-675-7297 for more info.
