Story
In the summer of 2020 we traveled to a farm in NY and found Winnie amongst a litter of pure bred Labrador Retrievers. She was the only yellow lab amongst her brothers and sisters. She was born on April 24th, 2020 so she is 4 years old now. She has been a sweet, playful and loving girl the entire we've had her. She is very adaptable but she definitely needs a yard to run around in. She loves to play and is great with other dogs. She was also good with our cat but it took them some time to get used to each other (more the cat than the dog). Winnie is extremely friendly, strong, sweet, energetic and playful and we are sad to need to re-home her but our new living situation will not allow her to stay with us.

Story
Frankie was recently rescued from a NY Shelter where he was picked up as a stray. No one claimed him so DCAR was happy to bring him into our rescue. He was very matted when he was found and had to be shaved down. Frankie listens well, comes when he is called, loves to chase balls and curl up on your lap. He’s a sweet, cuddle bug. He is also doing great on house training. Frankie has settled in well at his foster home but he has developed house guarding issues. He does not like strangers coming into his space. He barks loudly and aggressively in an effort to scare people away. He recently saw a behaviorist for an evaluation and we will be working on correcting this behavior. He will need an adopter who is willing to continue his training and help him feel less anxious. Frankie would be great as an only dog but is good with other dogs too. Frankie's perfect home is a house that does not get a lot of visitors and no small children. Fence preferred but all applications will be considered. This dog is currently being fostered in Rochester, NY and cannot travel prior to adoption. Meet and greets available in the surrounding area only. Visitors welcome. PLEASE READ ALL OF THE INFORMATION BELOW! We currently adopt in the states of NY, NJ, Eastern PA, DE, and some areas in MD. We can not accept applications from other states at this time. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our adoption application which you can find on our website at www.dutchcountryanimalrescue.org/adopt.html Our adoption fees are on our application. All of our rescues are spayed/neutered, up to date on rabies and DHPP, heartworm tested, treated for worms and fleas and most are microchipped. We are not a shelter, we are 100% volunteer public charity. All of our dogs are in foster homes until they are adopted. Since we are not a shelter, we do not receive government funding. We are a public charity that relies solely on funds through our adoption fee, fundraisers, and private donations. Since we are 100% volunteer based, all funds collected go directly towards the rescue and vet costs of our dogs. We take each rescue personally and spend a lot of effort trying to match the right dog to the right family. Thank you for considering one of our rescued dogs.

Story
Our Fonzy is a party animal! He’s a rough and tumble, nonstop player with dogs. He’s a snuggly lover with people and craves one on one attention. Fonzy is a high energy boy that would do best with a fenced yard for play. He does well on a leash but is easily distracted by other dogs. Fonzy is crate trained, house trained and is feline friendly. Fonzy yearns for a home with a person or family that will shower him with the attention he craves while guiding him with kindness and love.
