Story
Meet Snoop!! Snoop is a 4 yr old Old English Sheepdog weighing 97 lbs. Snoop is a little shy when meeting new people but after just a little bit of time and patience, he warms up, especially for a treat! Snoop is house-trained, crate-trained, and knows his basic commands (sit, stay, down). He is very smart and learns fast. Snoop was purchased as a pup from an Old English Sheepdog breeder, but unfortunately, due to the owner's medical issues, it was realized that Snoop deserved someone who had time for him. Snoop will need guidance with leash walking. The trainer who assessed Snoop notes that he gets over-excited when he sees dogs and will bark and pull to go meet them. He will also bark at them if he is in a car. Again, Snoop gets over excited wanting to go meet them. He definitely needs to work on leash manners. The trainer recommends some formal lessons to help the adopter know how to walk him with a proper training collar and leash. Snoop was great with the trainers personal dogs, just a slow intro (waited for Snoop to settle, redirected him a few times and he was good. Didn’t take long). Snoop may be too much for some dogs, he loves to play and if his person lets him just go without guidance, he may be too much. But again, he takes direction very well to show him he needs to be respectful of other dogs. We didn’t have any issues with him at all, intros went very quickly, Snoop was a good boy. Snoop lives with his doggie friend but a proper introduction to any current dogs in the new home will be needed. Snoop has never lived with cats so a cat-less home is best. He is a little anxious but once he has a stable home, he will make a wonderful addition. Snoop has never lived with small children, so we feel due to his large size a home without toddlers is best. Snoop is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. If you are interested in Snoop, please submit an online application so we can learn a little about you to make sure Snoop would be a good match for you and your family. We are looking for local adoption within a 45 mile radius of Avon Lake Ohio, due to our trial adoption process. Adoption fee/donation is $.250.00 If you have specific questions, please email the adoption coordinator at info@loveastraydog.com If you can't foster or adopt, please consider donating to help us with medical expenses and ongoing care. You can mail your donation to: Love-A-Stray, P.O. Story
Update 6/3/24: I passed my dog evaluation with flying colors and made 5 new dog friends! Hi .... I'm Miss Millie. I'm so grateful for Love-A-Stray because I was abandoned at Miller Road Park in Avon Lake, the ACO found me wrapped in a blanket;-(. I was taken to the Avon Lake Animal Clinic and after no one claimed me, I was turned over to Love-A-Stray. LAS had me vaccinated and I tested negative for HW. I received 2 medicated baths, ear meds and skin meds. I was underweight, but now I gained 6 lbs and I weigh 57 pounds. Dr Krupka said I'm 7 or 8 years old and my teeth look fantastic. I had some skin issues that are clearing up and I'm looking really GOOD! I'm in a great new foster home and my foster said I'm the perfect house dog!! I walk well on lead and I'm just a very sweet doggy! I would like a cat-less home. If you are interested in me, please submit an online application, so my friends at Love-A-Stray can determine if you are a good match. If you have questions, please email info@loveastraydog.com. LAS does not do out of state adoptions, due to our trial adoption process. My adoption fee is $100.00. If you can't foster or adopt me, please consider donating for my care. Visit www.loveastraydog.com for PayPal, Venmo or mail a check - Attn: Millie to LAS, PO Box 125, Avon Lake, Oh 44012. Thank you very MUCH!

Story
Meet Ruby Roo!! Ruby Roo is also searching for a new TEMPORARY FOSTER HOME while she waits for the perfect forever home!! Ruby Roo is a young pitty weighing about 70 lbs and she is a sweetheart. Ruby is a little shy when meeting new people but after just a little bit of time and patience she warms up, especially for a treat! Ruby Roo is house trained, crate trained, knows her basic commands...she is smart and learns fast. Ruby is fully vaccinated and spayed. Ruby Roo was found running loose, no collar or microchip. A great family took her in to keep her safe and reported finding her to all the required agencies, but no one was looking for this sweet girl ;-(. They contacted Love-A-Stray to help find her a forever home. She has the funniest way of laying with her paws tucked under, as shown in photo, maybe she is praying for her new home! Ruby would do best with a male dog friend or as the only dog. Her current foster has older dogs and Ruby Roo has the typical energy of a young dog, so she is looking for a new foster or home where she can run and play. Ruby would love a fenced yard but is it not required. She has lots of energy and at 70 pounds could knock a toddler down, so we are looking for an active home with children over the age of 10 years old. If you are interested in Ruby Roo please submit an online application so we can learn a little about you to make sure Ruby Roo would be a perfect match for you and your family. We are looking for adoption within a 100 mile radius of Avon Lake Ohio, due to our trial adoption process. Adoption fee/donation is $100.00. Meet Cooper!! Cooper is a 3 yr old Doodle/Rottweiler mix weighing 100 lbs. Cooper is housebroken, crate-trained, and knows all his commands (sit, stay, down, come, shake, sit pretty). Meet Beau!! Beau is a 2 yr old Hound/Pit mix. We had a DNA done on Beau and he is 50% hound and that explains his "howl", his nose and big ears! LOL Beau weighs 62 lbs and is completely house-trained, crate-trained, and knows his basic commands (sit, stay, down). He is very smart and will follow his nose! He is food motivated so no pizza left on the counter HA!! He is fantastic with other dogs and is very loving and sweet with humans. Beau is not cat friendly, so a cat-less home is best. Beau walks well on lead and is just an all-around great dog! His foster dad said he is very "entertaining" with his goofy antics. Beau is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
