Story
Haven is currently in a foster home and NOT at the shelter. Meet our sweet boy Haven! Haven is a 9-10 year old male Boxer mix that weighs around 60 lbs. pounds.  We do not know much about his history but we can tell you that he has been a perfect gentleman at the shelter.  He has a caramel brown brindle coat that glistens in the sun.  He has a medium energy level.  He walks well on leash.  His kennel is always clean and he knows several commands.  When he is happy, he howls.  He is missing the home life.  Haven is gentle and loves to be near his person.  Haven would be perfect in any household that is willing to provide him love and companionship.  Older children are fine.  He is dog friendly. Compatibility with cats is unknown.  A meet and greet is required with any resident canines.  Haven is available for our foster to adopt program.  This means that you can foster Haven in your home until he is all done with his routine vetting through the Shelter.  After that, you can formally adopt Haven.  Haven will be vaccinated, tested for heartworm disease, and microchipped.  Haven is already neutered.  If you want to adopt Haven, please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and fill out an adoption application online to meet Haven.  Haven’s adoption fee is $85.  Haven is so deserving of a good home where he can live out his life safe and happy.      Like Parma Animal Shelter on FACEBOOK and help pass the word about our adoptable guests!  Don't forget to share pictures with your friends!  Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/ParmaAnimalShel   Submit an application to adopt on our website parmashelter.org           July 15, 2024, 8:30 am

Story
Guinness is a male boxer/terrier mix that weighs around 50+ pounds.  He is estimated to be 2 years old.  Guinness was found as a stray and no one claimed him.  Even though Guinness is very skinny he is grateful to be at the shelter where he is receiving good food and TLC. He exhibits resource guarding with food and  toys and needs a saavy owner who will set boundaries. We don’t know his background but we have assured Guinness that it is only the best for the rest.  He can be strong on leash but walks well for the most part.  He would be best as an only dog. Guinness likes to bark in his cage, he loves attention!  He has a medium energy level and would thoroughly enjoy a fenced in yard. He does fine with cats. Probably older kids would be best. Guinness is available for adoption which includes neuter, vaccines, heartworm testing, and microchip.  Please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and fill out an adoption application online to meet Guinness.  Guinness's adoption fee is $160.

Story
Summer greetings from new boy Hunt.  Hunt is a male shepherd mix that weighs 54 pounds.  He is estimated to be 1-2 years old.  This handsome gent was found as a stray and no one claimed him.  Hunt has been a lovely shelter guest.  He keeps his kennel clean, walks well on leash, and is just overall happy go lucky.  He becomes your best friend immediately.  He absolutely loves to chase tennis balls.  In fact, he put in a job application to be the ball boy at our neighborhood tennis courts.  Hunt has a medium energy level.  We don’t know his compatibility with other dogs, cats, or children.  He seems unphased by the other dogs at the shelter.  As always, a meet and greet with all resident dog is required.  Hunt is available for our foster to adopt program which means you can foster him in your home until he finishes his vetting which includes neuter, vaccines, heartworm testing, and microchip.  Please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and fill out an adoption application online to meet Hunt.  Hunt's adoption fee is $160.

Story
Heath is the unicorn of huskies.  Heath is a 4 year old male husky that weighs 51 pounds.  He was found as a stray and no one ever claimed him.  We have never had a husky quite like him.  Heath is the chill-est husky ever known to mankind.  This guy is so gentle and quiet that you don’t know he’s at the shelter.  He kennel is always impeccably clean and spotless.  He sleeps in the funniest positions-sometimes with his head tilted backwards and other times with his head smooshed up against the wall.  He is black and white with the palest blue eyes.  I am pretty sure Lou Reed was writing about Heath in the legendary hit song “Pale Blue Eyes.”  He walks well on leash.  Please keep in mind that Heath may be more active in a home environment but from what he has shown at the shelter, he is one chill good husky. His foster mom is working on getting him housetrained; we have a feeling he may have spent time outside. He loves affection and really only needs a nice comfy bed and some TLC.  He has shown great potential with other dogs.  As always, a meet and greet with your resident canine is required.  Compatibility with cats and children is unknown.  Fenced in yard is recommended.  Heath is available for adoption which includes vaccines and heartworm testing.  He is already neutered and microchipped.  Please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and fill out an adoption application online to meet Heath.  Heath’s adoption fee is $160.  Get your applications in, Heath won’t be around long.

Story
Say hello to Sharpy! Sharpy is a female Sharpei mix that weighs 54 pounds. She is estimated to be 2.5 years old. This little lady was found as a stray and no one claimed her. She was very scared at the shelter in the beginning but over time, she has quickly warmed up to all the dog volunteers. As with many of the shelter dogs, she does not like being in a kennel. She will bark. Once you take her out for a walk, she is a different dog. She walks nicely on leash. She is strong and can pull on leash but nothing crazy. She is very smart and knows how to sit and give paw. She takes treats nicely. Sharpy will do anything for food. Please research the Sharpei breed before you apply. They are not for everyone. They can be aloof and independent. But they are also loyal and confident. A fenced in yard is ideal for Sharpy as well as continued positive socialization with the world and everything in it. Sharpy’s compatibility with other dogs, cats and children is unknown. As always, if you have a dog, you must schedule a meet and greet with Sharpy to ensure that everyone gets along. Older teen children are fine. Sharpy is available for our foster to adopt program which means you can foster her in your home until she finishes her vetting which includes spay, vaccines, heartworm testing and microchip. Please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and/or fill out an online dog adoption application to meet Sharpy. Sharpy’s adoption fee is $160. Sharpy is waiting to meet you in kennel 5.

Story
Buddy is currently in a foster home and not at the shelter.   Buddy is a wonderful ambassador of the Sharpei breed.  Buddy is a 18 month old male Sharpei that weighs 38 pounds.  Buddy is a very friendly boy who will thrive in an active household.  He enjoys several walks a day, but his limit is 2 miles.  After all, he is a breed that does not do well in this summer heat.  He is currently being fostered in a home with no other pets, one adult, and two visiting children.  Older children are preferred.  He can be dog-selective.  As always, a meet and greet with any resident canines is required.  Buddy has not been exposed to cats so compatibility is unknown.  He is used to having a fenced in yard.  He is very puppyish and playful and can be mouthy.  Buddy’s foster reports he is housebroken.  When left alone in the home, Buddy is not destructive.  As with most Sharpeis, he sounds like a freight train when sleeping and snoring.  He is a drool machine and looks forward to having his chin wiped after he drinks water.  Buddy is great on car rides and on walks.  He is a cuddlebug and likes to be close to his owner.  A perfect home for Buddy would be an adult household with teen children that will play with him and take him on walks.  Experience with the Chow or Sharpei breeds is preferred.  Because of all his facial wrinkles, Buddy had surgery to remove some of his wrinkles so he could see better.  Buddy is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative.  Please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and fill out an adoption application online to meet Buddy.  Buddy’s adoption fee is $160.
