*SPECIAL NEEDS GIRL IN SEARCH OF SPECIAL HOME for PALLIATIVE CAREMeet our special needs girl Zoey. While under our care, Zoey had a soft tissue sarcoma tumor surgically removed from her leg. It may or may not come back. For that reason, we are asking for a permanent foster who is willing to open up their home to Zoey for as long as she has on this earth. The Shelter will continue to pay for all her vetting while she is in the permanent foster’s home. Zoey is a female Boxer mix that weighs 56 pounds. She is 8.5 years young. This girl came to us as an owner surrender after her loving owner passed away. Zoey is a very good girl and would make a great family dog. In the home, Zoey is very calm and easy going. She will follow you around and keep you company, whether you want it or not (LOL). She is very much a Velcro dog. Zoey thoroughly enjoys car rides. She is housetrained and has a medium energy level. She is dog selective meaning she likes some dogs, and others, not so much especially small dogs.. Zoey also does well with certain cats. If you have a resident dog, you must schedule a meet and greet to make sure everyone gets along. Zoey would be perfectly fine being the only dog too. Zoey is already spayed and microchipped. Please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and fill out an adoption application online to meet Zoey. Zoey lives her life day by day. She just needs a loving home.

Lady is in excellent health and up-to-date on all her vaccinations. She enjoys a balanced diet and regular exercise, keeping her happy and energetic. Story
Please note: this pup is in a foster home. Her foster mom reports that Mona is a very loving, playful pup that loves to bark and run. She would benefit from a fenced in yard. Mona is high energy and would do fine with another dog of her energy level. And she loves her small stuffed animals but will chew tennis balls. She seemed interested in kids when she was out walking. She would love a family or couple to give her the attention she deserves. Attention: Special Needs Pup!Through a partnership with another rescue, Geauga Moms and Pups, we pulled Mona to find a loving forever home. We believe she is deaf, so she`s a special needs pup and we are looking for that special home to accept her as she is. Mona is a 6 month old Beagle/Terrier mix that weighs 22 pounds. Mona is a cuddly happy and friendly puppy. She has been around other dogs and older children and did well with both. She has not been exposed to cats or other small furry pets. Mona will need help with general obedience, leash training, housetraining, and socialization. Mona is available adoption which includes spay, vaccines, microchip, and HW test. Please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and fill out an adoption application online to meet Mona. Mona’s adoption fee is $160. Please remember that puppies are a lifetime commitment. They require a lot of work and patience but they will be your most loyal companion for life. If you are ready to dedicate time and work into a puppy, get your applications in.

Story
Please note: King is in a volunteer foster home and not at the shelter. Every once in a while, a dog like King comes along. King is a male Boxer mix that weighs 60+ pounds and is approximately 2 years old. King came to us as a stray. He is in horrible shape-very thin, skin infections, and little hair. We don’t know what happened to King but we can assure you, he is so grateful for all the love and TLC given to him. He is happy and ready to put his past behind him. This boy is so friendly and delightful. He just needs a home with a family that will promise to treat him like the King he is. He is a fairly easy dog- he curls up on his bed at the end of the night, licks the bowl after he finishes his food, challenges every stuffy he meets, and walks ok on leash. This holiday season is about appreciation and love. And while the dog volunteers always have a secret favorite shelter dog, I think we all agree that King is our absolute favorite. King is dog and cat friendly. A meet and greet is required with any resident dog to ensure that everyone gets along. Older children would be best for King. We believe that once King recovers, he will be a spunkier different dog in the home. He is already such a good boy. King is available for our foster to adopt program which means you can foster him in your home until he finishes his vetting which includes neuter, vaccines, heartworm testing, and a microchip. For now, King needs to gain much-needed weight and let his skin heal. Please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and fill out an adoption application online to meet King. His adoption fee is $160. All of us have promised King that it’s only the best for the rest!

Story
This is a double adoption. Taco and his brother Cinco will go together or not at all. Taco and his brother Cinco came to me in October when my mother suddenly passed away. Taco and Cinco were the light of my mother's world. She loved them so much. With nowhere else for them to go in the short term, I took them in. However, living with me is not ideal. I live alone and work 12-hour shifts, so unfortunately, they are penned up for 13 hours at a time some days. Taco is 13 years old. He loves to chase a tennis ball. He also loves to curl up and cuddle right next to you; however, he is not a Velcro dog. He is good with cats and other dogs. It is unknown how he is with children. Unfortunately, Taco is not housebroken. If you take him outside, he will do his business out there; however, he will not ask or wait to go out. If you are diligent in taking him out every couple of hours, there shouldn't be too much of an issue.
