Story
Brinkley is a wonderful pet loves people and children Although he’s about 6 yrs old plays like a puppy. Completely house and crate training He never has damaged anything in our home and doesn’t get on furniture not even to look out the window. With that Brinkley is very aggressive to other dogs and cats. He walks well on leash until he sees another dog. We spent 6 weeks with a trainer he got much better with his leash manners but not with other dogs I had him on a quick release sprenger prong collar for training. I live in a condo community with lots of dog owners. It has become a concern because he lunges and pulls towards other dogs and cats. I would like to get him a home where he is the only pet and a yard so can sometimes just run and be a dog.

Story
** Must be in a home with other dogs. No exceptions. ** ** Spudz (0010-S) is her best friend, and they are very close together for those who may be looking to add two dogs into their home. We would love for them to stick together.** Sweet little Mia came from Alabama after finding herself abandoned and alone. We found her sitting in the kennels alone after being listed for euthanization due to the shelter lacking resources (among all the other animals). Would not let anyone approach her by attempting to run off but, once she's in your arms, she just wants to snuggle... for a moment, anyways. We learned she was an Owner Surrender at the ETOWAH County Shelter for Unspecified Reasons. Mia was surrendered in questionable conditions. Mia has always been quiet among the chaos and despite being through a lot, she has made a lot of progress in opening up, with dogs in the home being the #1 influence. Otherwise, she's very independent and paces around the home trying to avoid people. Eye contact is too much for her on the first few days, but if you look away, she'll follow you. Sometimes you can't help but "awe" at her shyness. It has its own charms. This girl needs a home with patience and allows her to just have her own space without giving her "too" much to prevent separation anxiety building up - unless her adopters are retired or consistently home, frequently. She likes to sleep at the bottom of the bed or next to your pillow. When you're doing something, she's curious as to what you're doing by looking at you around the corner, but you have to pretend you don't see her, of course. When she's with other dogs, she's a lot livelier and wants to engage with them. However, we don't think she's ever had toys and has to watch other dogs play first. Recently, she learned how fun running around a yard can be. Mia has also become more engaging to the home environment and the people there.

Story
(Neuter Scheduled June 18th) Meet Jack! Jack is a sweet tree walker coonhound. He was found wandering the streets of West Virginia and landed himself in a kill shelter. The vet there aged him at 6, but his foster mom thinks he may be closer to 3 or 4 years old. Luckily Jack was pulled by a rescue and now has a real chance at living the good life. He is currently learning the ropes of being a house dog. He loves to snuggle with his foster mom and can’t get enough playtime with the resident dogs in the home. Jack loves toys and has only barked at his foster siblings when he occasionally doesn’t feel like sharing. Jack is doing very well at crate training. He sleeps through the night and hasn’t had any accidents in his crate. We are still getting the hang of house training, being an unaltered male the urge to mark is there, but accidents have been minimal. We are hoping with his scheduled neuter appointment in June that potty training will get easier. Jack does have a wonky front leg, believed to be an old break that went untreated and did not heal correctly. He is on joint supplements to help with any arthritis. Jack still gets around well, and when he runs you can’t even tell he has a little disability. Jack is still new to walking on a leash, but seems to enjoy it. He has yet to meet a stranger he doesn’t like! With lots of love, patience, and a little training Jack will surely be the bright spot in someone’s day. A house really isn’t a home without a hound, and Jack would really love a family to call his very own.

Story
Spudz was found as a street dog in Alabama when we were in the area for a shelter assistance program. He approached us while working with a shelter dog (Mia) at our Air BnB - he looked in decent shape so, we looked for a possible owner but learned that he's been on the streets for a few years. Even to this day, no one has claimed him. The Director gave him an option; "You can continue the life you're living or come back with us." as she took his slip lead off. Spudz never left her side. Since his long travel back to Ohio, he's been absolutely amazing. He's house-trained, nondestructive. He gets along with cats and dogs, loves kids and is a real people person - er, pooch. Spudz even goes on trips to pet friendly stores and does very well. Spudz is described as an "old soul" kind of dog, gentle and a true best friend. His favorite things to do are laying in the sun or going for car rides. He's not a fan of the crate but does fine in the house. Spudz does have a little separation anxiety which is him whining, then going to lay down somewhere. He is does not trust new dogs on the outside very quickly. Any new dogs that have come into our home for Rescue, he's done fine with. Any dogs that he does not know he will growl because he doesn't know if they are safe or unsafe. Once it had been established, they are safe, he opens up to play. He does well with low-moderate energy dogs and while he does fine with the males, he does better with female dogs. Spudz changes his behavior with different dogs. Some he's gentler with, others he rough plays, others he doesn't play with all - as he's great at "reading the room". While he may have been a street dog, he's definitely lived in a home before. A FANTASTIC dog all things considering.

Story
Introducing Leif, a charming companion who found his way to us after being discovered as a stray in an apartment building. It seems his previous owners may have overlooked his wonderful qualities, but their loss is your gain, as Leif is truly the sweetest and most playful pup, eager to embark on a journey of learning and affection. At just around a year old, Leif is a big-hearted guy who occasionally forgets his size when showering you with kisses and cuddles. He gets along well with larger dogs, though his exuberance might be a bit much for smaller ones. Leif's perfect match would be a home with ample space for outdoor adventures – he's quite the fan of playtime. He also adores his cozy bed, a simple luxury he never had to go without again. Having known hunger, Leif's appetite for love, pets, and yummy treats is insatiable. He would thrive in an active, youthful home with some experience in canine companionship, or with someone who's willing to guide him through a few training classes, allowing this exceptional boy to reach his full potential. Leif, a unique and affectionate soul, seeks nothing more than compassion, understanding, and love. Could that special someone be you? If you are interested in meeting Leif, send us a message!

Story
Allow us to introduce you to Norris. This charming fella came to us some time ago as a stray. Initially timid, Norris has come a long way since then, now reveling in playful activities. With a toy, a yard, or even a baby pool, Norris is the happiest boy when he is enjoying swimming and playtime. His play style might involve a bit of vocalization, but it's all in the spirit of fun. As far as Norris is concerned…there is never enough toys! After his energetic bursts, Norris finds joy in stretching out and lounging. He adores nestling his nose under your arm for head rubs and sitting snugly between your legs. At around 2 years old, he's a leash-walking pro, making him a great companion for an active lifestyle. He will need an active household. While he's tolerant with other dogs, we believe he'd thrive best as the sole pet in the household. We do think he would thrive with someone who has a bit of experience with owning dogs. He would thrive with someone who knows how to lead him to be the best boy. Due to his exuberant nature, we recommend a home without young children and a securely fenced yard for this lively boy. This sweetheart just needs his very own forevermore. Is that with you? If you are interested in Norris, send us a message to set up a potential meet and greet!
