Story

Richie is an 8-10 year old male Shih Tzu / Poodle mix. We don’t know anything about his past life other than he was horribly neglected and likely abused. He deserves a soft place to land where he feels loved and secure. Richie is blind and appears to have limited hearing which leaves him dependent for most things. But honestly he doesn’t ask for much! He is comfortable and happy to spend his days lounging on the couch, cuddled up with his humans and hanging out in the fenced yard at his foster home. It’s going to be important to keep his environment safe and unchanged as he learns and adjusts to his new home. Richie lost his left eye likely due to trauma. He has a mature cataract and anterior lens luxation in his right eye which means the lens has slipped in front of the pupil and iris. He was evaluated by an eye specialist and is not a candidate for cataract surgery. He tested negative for dry eye and glaucoma in his right eye but is at high risk for both due to the mature cataract. He will need to have the eye rechecked in September. It’s possible he may need his right eye removed at some point if he were to develop complications from the cataract. Richie is good with the other dogs in his foster home but he doesn’t like to play and he’s happy to be left alone. Richie is house-trained. He has never had an accident in his foster home! He doesn’t ask to go out so he needs to be taken outside on a schedule but he knows what to do from there. We have tried to work with him on stairs in/out of the house but so far he’s just too afraid so he needs to be carried up/down stairs. It’s possible he might do better with a ramp, as he does get on/off the couch using a stair ramp. Richie’s wish list includes a spot on your bed. He sleeps through the night and will adjust to your schedule. It makes him feel safe and secure to have you close by. Richie would do best in a home where he is not left alone for long periods of time. He does okay while you’re away, he’s not destructive at all but sometimes gets anxious. He has crate anxiety so that is not an option for him. The good news is he does fine when loose in the house. Kids age 10+ who can understand his special needs okay. He will need to be groomed on a regular basis. He doesn’t like to have his face and paws groomed so he will need an experienced groomer. We are requiring a securely fenced yard where he can be safe and enjoy his time outside. No invisible fences/no exceptions. We realize Richie will take a very special adopter. Someone who is willing to let Richie live his life without expectations. He deserves a life of comfort and love. Age: Almost 1 year (turns 1 this July 16) We got Yoshi from a very experienced breeder when he was two months old. He has been a beloved member of our family since then.Yoshi is a very happy and super friendly dog. He is excellent with kids and gets along great with other dogs. His cheerful and playful nature makes him a joy to be around. He is in great health and has been fed IAMS puppy food. We are transitioning him to adult food soon. He is very sensitive to treats with pork or pork rib, which cause diarrhea, so his diet needs to avoid these ingredients. Besides, Yoshi is fully potty trained; enjoys jogging and walking; well-behaved and obedient Due to unforeseen family changes, we have to make the heartbreaking decision to find a new home for Yoshi. Huckleberry is a 3 year Old English Bulldogge who we've had since he was roughly 10 weeks old. He's a very loving dog who absolutely loves to be around people and loves to snuggle. His favorite activities are chewing his chew toys for hours on end, chasing balls and sticks, going on long walks, and sleeping the day away. Oh and he LOVES running through bodies of water and high snow. He's a great family dog but doesn't do great with other animals, he plays very rough with other dogs and he and our other dog fight so we have to rehome him. He's been around kids since he was a puppy and we've never had a problem and he's very gentle with my 5 year old daughter.

Gherkin does well with new dogs, but she would need a slow introduction to new dogs to see if they would be a good fit but once she warms up to she is ready to play! She does not do well with cats, so she would need a home with no cats.
