Story
My name is Jaela, and I’m looking for my forever home! I’m 3 years old and weigh 18 lbs. I came to my foster home here in Columbus, OH, from a commercial breeding facility. It’s so much better here, even though I’m still getting used to everything that is new about it (like the thing they call Roomba. OMG. It is terrifying!) I’m a very good girl in the house. I am potty trained and not destructive. When foster dad has to go out for a short time, I sometimes hang out in the living room and play or when he is gone for a longer time, I stay in my kennel and don’t make any fuss. I like the people here, but trusting humans is new for me. I’m cautious and skittish, even around my foster dad, but I will let him pet me on my head and pick me up. I don't yet feel comfortable with him touching my belly or paws. I am very gentle when taking treats. I love being around other dogs, especially my foster fur-brother and other Shiba Inu who have come over to play. I love running around in our securely fenced back yard. I’d spend all day out there if I could. I haven’t met any cats yet. I do like to chase critters outside. But when I’m indoors, I tend to hang out in my kennel, so I might be fine sharing a forever home. I’m learning how to walk on a leash! It’s scary out there outside of our familiar yard. I’m pretty brave if my foster fur-brother is there, but if I’m on my own, I freeze and foster dad sometimes has to pick me up and carry me back home. I've been on some car rides and that's been fine. I’ve never met any human kids before, but I hear they can be loud. Loud scares me, so I’m pretty sure I’d be scared of them. If the kids were older and could be quiet and patient as I learn to adjust, that might be okay. My forever home must have a securely fenced yard. It would be great to have another nice dog to play with and to help me feel safe and relaxed, but I can also have fun on my own. I'd love my forever family to be experienced with shy/fearful dogs like me so they will be patient and understand my needs. No small kids please! I’m a healthy girl – spayed and vaccinated. If you live in the Midwest and want to welcome a fun, playful, shy and beautiful girl like me into your life, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. The application process helps SIRA make sure we'll be a good match. Once approved, they'll introduce you to my foster dad so we can meet!

Story
Turkleton (Turk) is an opinionated, energetic, and lovable dog that has been a part of our family for the past 8 years. He loves a snuggle, scratches behind the ears, and quality time with his humans. Unfortunately, Turk has not reacted well to having a new baby in our home. We have tried to acclimate him and make it work, but we feel finding him a new home is the best thing to give him the life he deserves. He gets a little overexcited at times, such as when people come and go, and needs a human with a willingness to understand and accommodate his chihuahua quirks. While he may not be a fit for everyone, he is loyal and will give you lots of love and laughs. Would be great for a single person, young couple, or anyone willing to give him the patience and attention he needs. We love him and want to see him go to a good home.

Story
Nala is a sweet dog that was rescued from an abusive homeless camp situation. She is approximately two years old spayed, female, up-to-date on shots, crate trained, and walks well on a leash. Her past situation has given her some reactivity to other dogs so a solo dog home or very experienced handler is her ideal situation. She loves all people and kids. She can play a little rough so younger kids would need to be cautious. She loves snuggles, boat rides, car rides, and generally being around her people. Please consider meeting Nala. She shared with Santa that she wanted a permanent home for Christmas Her adoption fee will be credited for a trainer to help transition into a new home

Story
We rescued Desi around 5 years ago and we thought she was an elderly dog. As it turns out she had been neglected and likely abused. After a few months she blossomed and turned into a happy puppy. We found out at the time she was likely around 2 years old when we adopted her. She's a great dog, crate trained and listens well. She sits, shakes, and her primary goal is just to be a "good dog". Unfortunately, my wife and I have a very busy schedule while both working full time and we have a 7 month old baby. So, we are concerned she is not getting the attention she deserves. She deserves the best!

Story
Loki is one of the sweetest most cuddling dogs ever. He is just very very fearful of the world. He gets scared on walks very easily. He doesnt like outside much. Im not sure why either. He has been like that since a puppy. I have tried to help him in the ways that I can but I am just not experienced enough with his breed. When I got him I was lied to about what breeds he was so I got him DNA tested. I love him with all my heart but unfortunately he doesnt get along with my other dog anymore. The only thing Ive ever seen him get aggressive over besides being in a fearful situation is over food. And never with people just my other dog. Loki really needs someone that has no other pets and has the time to help him learn the world is not a place to fear. I love him so much but for my other dogs safety and Lokis own happiness I have to try to find someone better suited for him. He knows basic commands like sit, stay, shake, lay down, and he is muzzle trained.
