Story
Jango is a young, energetic 3 year old Staffordshire Terrier mix. This guy is full of life and full of energy. He will need a family that is patient and who will be willing to work with him. He has spent the majority of his life in the shelter and has done very well learning what is the right and wrong things to do. He loves to play. Seems to do well with other dogs. However due to him being a male we are only willing to place him with a female dog that is active and who can put up with his antics. We do not feel that he will do well with cats. Due to his excitement level we would only suggest placing him with kids that are over 12 years old. He is wiggly and doesn’t always know his size. If you are interested in meeting Jango we ask that you please email adoption@columbiahumane.org in order to obtain an application. His adoption fee is $250.00, that includes his neuter, being microchipped, and being current on all his vaccinations. All adoptions are done by appointment only, with an approved application on file. For more information call 503-397-4353 or email adoption@columbiahumane.orgJuly 12, 2024, 7:05 am

Story
This handsome boy has a rough past. If he could talk he would be sure to tell you his sad story of what his previous life entailed, however he prefers to look forward and not worry too much about the past. He is very cautious with new things and he has every right to be that way. He tends to find new men to be scary, and most new situations are scary. He loves to get treats and hugs. This guy is going to need a lot of reassurance from his new family. They will need to work on building his skills outside of the home. All he really knows is being locked in a crate. He does not seem to mind dogs that are smaller than him, however dogs that are larger than him are not an option for him. He walks very well on a leash, and enjoys spending time in his pool. He loves to do tricks for food. He would make a great companion if you are looking for a dog that just wants to hang out and let him be the guy that he is. If you are interested in meeting him, we ask that you please email adoption@columbiahumane.org in order to obtain an application. Once you have an approved application no file we will then schedule a time for you to come and meet him. His adoption fee will be $300 that includes him being current on all his vaccinations, treated for fleas, treated for worms, and neutered. For more information call 503-397-4353 or email adoption@columbiahumane.orgJuly 12, 2024, 7:05 am

Story
Saffron recently came to the shelter after being found as a stray dog. She was found under a deck with her litter of puppies. Her puppies have since grown up and moved onto new forever homes. Saffy is a pretty sweet little girl. She is very shy in the beginning and likes to take the sit back and watch approach to life. She is very treat motivated and enjoys spending time just watching what is going on around her. We don’t think she is going to do well around cats, or livestock. She will do ok with a male dog that isn’t invasive and won’t try to over power her. We will not be willing to place her with a female dog. She has no problems sticking up for herself. If you are interested in meeting her please don’t hesitate to email adoption@columbiahumane.org to obtain an application. Once we have an approved application on file we will then schedule a time for you to come and meet her. Her adoption fee is $300.00 that includes all her vaccinations, being spayed, current on flea treatment. For more information call 503-397-4353 or email adoption@columbiahumane.orgJuly 12, 2024, 7:05 am

Story
We would like to welcome Thelma to the CHS family. Coming to the shelter as a stray we don't really know to much about her history. We are guessing that she is about 3 years old. She is going to need to be the only dog in the home, as she does not like to share her humans with other dogs. She is dog social but does not like to have dogs come running up into her face if she is being loved on by her people. The home we are looking for must have experience with this giant breed, they must understand that she is weighing right around 125lbs right now, but needs to put a little weight on still. They must understand how expensive it will be to care for and feed this wonderful girl. She is so very very sweet and so loving. If you are interested in meeting this girl we ask that you please email adoption@columbiahumane.org in order to obtain an adoption application. Once you have an approved application on file we will then schedule a meet and greet for you to come and meet her. We ask that you please DO NOT call the shelter for further information, email is our prefered way of communication. For more information call 503-397-4353 or email adoption@columbiahumane.orgJuly 12, 2024, 7:05 am

Story
This delightful little girl is looking to find that forever family she has always dreamed of. Dixie came to the shelter as an owner surrender because she was barking too much. From what we have seen at the shelter if her needs are not being met or she is scared of something she will just let you know. She is your typical little girl hound, she doesn't stop moving but she loves to play with other dogs. She has a very sweet playstyle and will do well in a home with a male companion that is playful, and willing to show her the ropes of what real life is like.Dixie is a little shy when she meets new people but give her about 10-15 minutes and she will be your best friend in no time. Her small size makes her a great dog for that family that is looking for a medium size dog. She is only about 32lbs. From what we can gather she is about 9 months old and has already found her way through 4 homes. Let's make this Dixie's last stop where she can find a forever home that is going to be committed to this little girl for her life. She already walks great on a leash. She likes to play a little fetch, but is also happy just running around sniffing like hounds do. We don't know what she is going to be like with cats, but if she is true to her breed she will more than likely want to chase. This little girl isn't going to be a couch potato, she is going to need daily exercise both mentally and physically. If you are interested in meeting Dixie we ask that you please email adoption@columbiahumane.org in order to obtain an adoption application. Once you have an application on file we will then schedule a time for you to come and meet her. Please note that Dixie is not going to be a good dog for an apartment. Her adoption fee is $250.00 this will include her being current on all her vaccinations, being treated for fleas, treated for worms, microchipped and spayed. For more information call 503-397-4353 or email adoption@columbiahumane.orgJuly 12, 2024, 7:05 am
