Story
Charlie is a very handsome 6-year-old beagle boy searching for his forever home. He loves his humans and enjoys getting attention from his foster mom. He is housetrained, loves car rides, potties in hi s fenced yard and during his walks. He follows the lead from the other dogs in his foster home. During walks he is very curious about any wildlife smells. He has a high prey drive and will try to climb over the fence. Charlie’s new home will require a very secure fence and close supervision when in the yard. Because of his high prey drive, he will need a home with no cats. Charlie is a very loving medium energy dog and will make the perfect addition for the right home. Contact your Midwest BREW adoption counselor if you would like to know more about Charlie. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
This gorgeous young gal with movie-star looks is Avalon! At 7 months old and 35 pounds, Avalon is all puppy and is still growing. She’d make a great companion for an avid walker, hiker or runner or an active family. A home with a yard where she can burn off her puppy energy by romping and playing would be ideal. Playtime with other dogs is a serious business for Avalon, so supervision while she’s playing is a good idea. Avalon is a beagle/boxer/terrier mix, and we’re guessing that she’ll weigh in the neighborhood of 40 to 50 pounds once she’s an adult. Because of her size, she’ll need supervision around smaller children but should be fine with older ones. She’s cautious around strangers but will warm up to them if given time to get to know them. Avalon’s foster mom says that she a very smart girl and is picking up obedience basics such as “sit,” “wait,” and “come,” and is working on improving her leash manners. Avalon rides well in the car and goes to doggy daycare two or three days a week, where she really seems to enjoy hanging out and playing with her friends there. Her foster mom says she’s very food motivated and “eats like a vacuum” (show us a beagle who doesn’t!), so if there are other dogs in the house, she should be fed separately from them. When it’s time to go to sleep, Avalon is equally happy to snuggle up in a dog bed or people bed – she just wants to be comfy! She’s housetrained with the use of a doggy door. If you’re looking to liven up your days with a sweet, affectionate, energetic companion, Avalon may be the dog you’ve been looking for! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI). Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full-time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor or doggie daycare arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six, since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet and other important parts of your child's anatomy.

Toby is a 1 and 1/2 year old ginger beagle. He is very energetic and needs lots of exercise. He would do best as the only dog. He does play with the other dogs in the house but likes to be the alpha male and on occasion has growled at the other foster dog. He likes attention. He loves his toys and treats. This handsome beagle is looking for a home where he can be the center of attention and get plenty of exercise. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
Hi, I'm Perry! I'm such a unique and special boy. Last summer I was hit by a car and sustained serious damage to my front legs. One leg needed to be amputated and the other has some nerve damage that never fully recovered. Don’t let that fool you though! I can get around very well, go up and down stairs, jump on the couch and bed, and even play ball for hours. I do have a prosthesis that was especially made for me. I am very dog selective and it has been determined I should be in an only dog home. I absolutely adore people, children, cats and playing outside. If you are looking for a very handsome boy with a survivor story to tell, contact your Midwest BREW adoption counselor for more information about me! Story
This handsome fellow is Blaze! He’s 3 years old, weighs twenty-five pounds and is ready to find his forever family. There’s nothing Blaze likes more than sitting on the laps of his foster family and basking in their attention – except maybe snacking on his favorite yak cheese chews! Playing the “Cheerios Game” is another favorite pastime for Blaze. This is a simple form of nose work that allows him to satisfy his need to “sniff all the things” and get rewarded for it by finding the Cheerios that have been placed in the yard for him to find. If he gets into something he shouldn’t, he is easily redirected to a more suitable activity. Blaze also loves playing with toys, and he’ll need sturdy, durable ones as he very much enjoys chewing on them! Blaze is housetrained and crate trained. He eats in his crate, and when his people go out, is he crated as well. He needs a home with minimal alone time; he prefers to be with his people as much as possible. He will bark when left alone, so he’s not cut out to be an apartment dweller. When it’s time for bed, Blaze prefers to sleep on the downstairs couch – he doesn’t enjoy sleeping in his crate and will bark his displeasure at doing so. Before he arrived at his foster home, Blaze had lived outside his entire life, and he doesn’t seem to have been socialized with other dogs. He becomes quite anxious when the other dogs in the house play, become excited or crowd him, so Blaze requires a home where he can be the only pet. From the start, Blaze was very interested in human attention but was very shy, so his foster family consulted a veterinary behavioral specialist to see what could be done to make Blaze more comfortable. The specialist prescribed daily anti-anxiety medications, and they’ve made a world of difference – Blaze now eagerly seeks attention and affection from his foster family and happily showers them with beagle kisses. He also had difficulty sleeping, so he takes medication that allows him to restfully sleep through the night. Blaze will need to remain on these medications so he doesn’t lose any of the ground he’s gained and remains comfortable. Blaze is happy to receive attention from men and women alike. He has been around children who are 3 and 7 years old, and he did very well with them. Car rides are simply a breeze with Blaze, so he would make an excellent traveling companion. Walks are something that he enjoys as well. He tends to pull at first because he’s so excited about being able go out and explore the world, but after a few minutes, he calms down nicely. With the love and support of his foster family, Blaze has transformed into an affectionate, playful companion who is now ready to make his way into your heart and find his forever home. Story
My name is Lady Liberty (aka Lady). I’m almost 3 years old and weigh 24 pounds. My DNA testing shows that I’m a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/beagle mix. What does this mean? It means I’m the cutest dog ever, with the softest, silkiest fur you could ever imagine! Just look at my pictures, and you’ll see what I’m talking about! I need to let you know I had a hard life before I was rescued. My foster mom doesn’t know what I went through prior to getting picked up by animal control and put in a shelter, but she knows it must have been difficult because it has taken me several months to get comfortable with my foster family. I’m very wary around strangers, but I love getting attention from my foster family. I’m scared of children as well and will bark at them, so I will require an adult-only home that is peaceful and calm. I’m much more comfortable with women than with men, so my primary caregiver should be an adult woman, and if possible, I would prefer to live in a female-only home. To help me cope with my issues, my foster mom took me to a veterinary behavior specialist who prescribed a daily medication protocol and gave foster mom a lot of advice about helping me work through my fears and anxiety. The medications and the training tips have helped me a lot, and foster mom will share all of the great advice with my new family so they can continue to work with me. I will also need to continue taking my medications as well. I like most other dogs, and I like to chase, wrestle, and play “bitey-face” with my foster siblings. I’m submissive towards other dogs, so it’s okay by me if other dogs want to be the boss – I’m not going to argue with them! I’d love to have a canine sibling to play with in my new home, but it’s not absolutely necessary – I’d be quite happy to be an only dog and have all of the love and attention to myself! Even though I like playing with other dogs, foster mom thinks that doggie daycare would be a bad idea for me as I might get overwhelmed by all of the noise and activity. My foster home has a fenced-in yard, and I love to go outside and romp with the other dogs. Once I get past my fear, you’ll see that I have a lot of playfulness and puppy behaviors – playing keep-away with my foster mom’s socks is probably my favorite game! I enjoy playing with my toys, too, but I need to have very durable ones because I am quite the chewer! I’m hesitant to get in the car, but once I’m inside I ride very calmly and quietly as long as I can see my human. At night, I sleep either downstairs on the couch or on the dog bed next to foster mom’s bed. Sometimes I take naps in my crate, which has become my safe space. I’m housetrained and will let you know I have to go potty by going to the door. I enjoy sharing my vocal talents by barking at foster mom to tell her when it’s time to feed me (which I think should be really often), time for a treat (also often), time to go out, time to come back inside…you get the picture! I must say hello to anyone who passes by, including the neighbors, the rabbits, and even the neighborhood cats who like to tease me from outside the fence. I make an excellent alarm system! I am adorable and sweet, and even though I’m still very timid, I’ve made tremendous strides since I was rescued. I’m in search of a loving home where I can feel safe and loved and continue to become a more confident dog. If you want to be my fur-ever family, please contact Midwest BREW. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
