Story
Life goals?? To have someone look at you the way Luna looks at a tennis ball or a stick… Lovable miss-Luna is as ready as ever to land herself a forever family of her own, and one that’s willing to play endless fetch would be her DREAM! Luna (female) is a 3 year old silver lab who joined the New Leash family in pretty poor physical condition due to some negligence + thyroid levels that cause hair loss & needed some medication/maintenance. Fast-forward to today…Luna is doing pretty incredible! Her foster family has shown her the unconditional love she’s never known, her fur is filling in nicely, and she is ready for a forever kind of love! More about Luna:  50lbs 100% potty-trained  crate-trained  a well-mannered girl who is a good listener!   LOVES car rides (copilot, anyone? )  will show off her tricks for some yummy treats!  affectionate & loving (kisses, cuddles, belly rubs…you name it! )  would play fetch all day, every day if you’d let her!   continuing to work on her leash etiquette (which she previously had no concept of), and is improving every single day!  ADORES her people! More about Luna’s home requirements:  A fenced-in yard would be her dream, because: 1. alllllll the fetch and 2. roaming + sniffing to her heart’s content!  Being the only dog would be ideal. Luna is your typical “covid dog,” so the socialization skills she should’ve received as a puppy are nonexistent. Her initial reaction is to become quite anxious around new dogs…so if she’s not the only dog in the home, she’d require a low-key, non-reactive 4-legged friend. She would also need to do several meet & greets with him/her prior to adoption! She continues to learn “how to dog” every single day. Has been around kiddos as young as 5 years and done wonderfully, so would do just fine with children of most all ages!  Luna is in-need of a new foster and/or forever home by Saturday, September 23rd. She is eligible for our foster-to-adopt program, so please reach out if you think she possibly sounds like a good fit for you. APPLY HERE: https://newleashdogrescue.com **Luna’s $200 adoption fee includes her spay, vaccinations, heartworm test, and microchip. ##1817860##

Story
Zirah is a sweet little husky mix who is coming up on her first birthday and her only wish is to find a home to call her very own.   Zirah is extremely timid and was not well socialized to people.    She has a strong prey drive, so can't live with cats or small dogs.   She loves dogs her size and bigger (she is just 35 lbs) and is learning how to "dog" a bit more each and every day.   She will run if not contained, and hasn't been well acclimated to a leash, so definitely will need a fenced yard.  She is a smart girl, and is catching on to housebreaking.   She is still mouthy, but not aggressive.  But for this reason, and her tendency to jump on people, a home without young children is needed.  For the little bit we had snow this year, she loved it!   Zirah is a gorgeous girl who has all the potential in the world, but she needs a human who will be patient with her and teach her good manners. In return, you will have her loyalty and love, and the immense reward of seeing her blossom right before your very eyes.   Zirah is eligible for our foster to adopt program.   If you think you might be a good fit, please send us a message.  If you don't already have an application on file, please to go out website and fill one out!  www.newleashdogrescue.com ##1983299##

Story
Handsome-boy Tonka needs a miracle. Due to a drastic change in his owner’s life, Tonka finds himself immediately in-need of a new foster and/or forever home. We know this is a big ask…as this BIG boy has quite a few specific requirements…but we are hopeful that his gorgeously giant smush-face will capture someone’s heart *just* enough to prompt them to give him a shot/bring him home!  Tonka’s details: 6 years old Is a mastiff/bloodhound mix Dog-friendly (Tonka LOVES other dogs! He actually tends to warm up more quickly to humans if there are other dogs around, and would prefer another dog in the home to romp around and explore with. He has done wonderfully with every single dog he’s met! ).  Does ok with dog-savvy cats. If the kitties don’t run, he does just fine…however if they do run, he will chase/terrorize them! Rides very well in a vehicle!  Is extremely loyal, loving, mellow, and snuggly. Fully potty-trained Loves to lounge, is incredibly smart, and doesn’t chew on anything he shouldn’t.  Tonka’s home requirements: Tonka’s #1 setback is that he has “stranger danger.” He is NOT a dog who’s able to be immediately approached by new humans. Therefore any introductions with him need to be slow and proper (no staring, no sudden behaviors/quick movements, no reaching hands toward him, no pets until he’s ready…& REALLY good treats!), with a calm, understanding, and patient demeanor. It can take anywhere from 30mins to several days for Tonka to fully adjust to new people…but once he does, you are “in” with him and he is SO faithful and SO loving! His person will need to be his advocate, as any/all encounters he makes should strictly follow the above guidelines. NO kids! He has a protective nature, and children come with more commotion + more noise. Therefore a kiddo-free environment is a must.  Much prefers females over males. Tonka’s past – before rescue – could’ve definitely held some misuse by a male figure in his life. He undoubtedly gravitates toward women, so would thrive with a single, confident female. Otherwise a couple [with a very patient male] could also prove to be the perfect placement! Toys and treats (especially if they include peanut butter! ) aplenty are a MUST! If living in town, a fenced-in, private yard is a necessity. He will react to/bark at (& has quite the BIG bark!) people walking by…and so quiet, country-living would be most ideal. More than anything, Tonka yearns for LOVE! If you show him compassion and earn his trust, he is amazing beyond measure! If you’re willing to give him that chance, he promises to return that love for the rest of his days.  APPLY HERE: https://newleashdogrescue.com Tonka is an eligible foster-to-adopt candidate, so please private message us with any interest/additional questions ##1983835##

Story
Introducing: sweet Mr. Charlie (formerly known as Pansy)! This handsome little guy had quite a rough beginning to life…as he was diagnosed with parvo at 7 weeks old. He was hospitalized for over 2 weeks, and in those 2 weeks he showed his true strength and resilience…as a fight for his life he undoubtedly had! Charlie was heavily medicated, tube fed, and monitored by the hour. When he was stable enough to be released from emergency care, his current foster family took him in in-order to keep him separated from his siblings. Fast-forward to today, and Charlie is healthy, happy, strong, and thriving! His care costs were expensive…but you can’t put a price tag on a precious little life. And for Charlie’s life we are SO thankful! Born on 1/1/24 (a New Year’s baby! ) to mama Rosie, Charlie (male) is now over 5 months old. He weighs-in right around 30lbs; our best guess is that fully grown he’ll reach 60-65lbs. Charlie (with all of his cuteness ) is SUCH a lovable little guy! He has lots of energy, loves to give out kisses, and gets along so well with other dogs + humans of any/all ages! He is kennel-trained, usually sleeps through the entire night, knows how to sit, shake, high five, and lay down! As a bonus, he is highly food/treat motivated AND extremely smart! He is bell-trained and will hit the bell hanging at the door when he needs to be let out to potty. Because Charlie’s stomach continues to heal from the toll his illness took on his body, he does tend to have some digestive issues. This may/may not continue for the extent of this sweet boy’s life (good veterinary care will need to be established by his adopters ), but as of right now he’s on a special kibble diet that has proven to be beneficial for his tummy troubles. He would love a family who can exercise him regularly (he’s an active, energetic guy!), and — although not a requirement — would especially love a fenced-in yard to run and play in. He most loves being outside and sunbathing in the backyard! Charlie is being fostered with children ages 6 and 9, and has been around kiddos as young as 5. He loves them all! Though as with any pup, young kids should be taught respect + proper puppy boundaries! As of right now, it is unknown how he’d do with kitties. Charlie loves to play, loves snuggling up in cozy blankies, and just loves being loved. He is such a sweet boy…and a survivor. He will make a wonderfully loving addition to a family he’s able to call his own. Apply now + reach out via private message…just ask for Charlie! APPLY HERE: https://newleashdogrescue.com (or private message us if you’re already preapproved!)  **Charlie’s $250 adoption fee includes his neuter, vaccines to date, and microchip. ##1970301##

Story
Sometimes we are so very surprised when some pups “linger” in their foster homes longer than others…and Reign is hands-down one of those puppers! She is such (and we mean SUCH! ) a honey! Her foster family adores her [& all of her sweetness ], and we simply can’t understand why she’s been overlooked! Although she hasn’t *yet* found her forever family…we know her perfect pairing is out there. And whoever ends up being the lucky one(s) to adopt this girl is going to score an absolute gem! She is perfectly sweet in every way, super-duper snuggly, and the prettiest speckle-nosed pittie you may ever meet. Reign (aka “Rainy”) joined the New Leash family in the beginning of April with her siblings (Bella, Baldy, Heart Lee, & Loki). Their exposure to the world outside the 4 walls of their own home was very minimal…so quite literally everything (walking on leash, car rides, outside adventures, vet visits, etc.) was new to them. Reign’s foster family has done an incredible job showing her the love, proper socialization, and patience she is ever-so deserving of, and this little lady has made monumental strides! Reign was born on 9/3/23, so is now 9 month old. She weighs-in right around 40lbs, so is the PERFECT-sized little cuddle buddy! One of her favorite places is snuggled up on top of her pup foster-sibling, Lucy. She bonds so well with other pups, so would really prefer having one in her forever home to learn from (+ cuddle with )! She tends to take the other dog’s lead, and we know having one at home with her would help her continue to excel in her confidence! Reign is fully potty-trained, crate-trained (and kennels up easily + without fuss!), and is also trained with her foster family’s underground fence. She’s a smart cookie who picks up on things quickly! Another major perk: she’s an excellent listener. She has had the chance to meet so many new human friends, and is known to steal hearts! She has built some super special connections with kiddos she’s met/been fostered with, so we know she’d love a family with children! Reign has also met a kitty and showed little to no interest, so we’d say she’s kitty-friendly. This little honey continues to thrive and come out of her shell every single day…which makes our hearts swell with so much pride! She is just an all-around AMAZING girl who wants nothing more than close cuddles, plenty of cozy blankets, tasty treats, + some fun dog toys mixed in! Seriously, don’t sleep on this cutie; we can’t believe she has yet to be scooped up! Apply today + reach out to us via private message. Just ask for sweet miss Reign!  APPLY HERE: https://newleashdogrescue.com (or private message us if you’re already preapproved!)  **Reign’s $250 adoption fee includes her spay, vaccines to date, and microchip. ##2020055##
