Story
Name: Trixie and Scrappy Age: 6 and 5 years  Gender: Female and Male  Breed: Chihuahua mix  Weight: 8 lb and 12 lb  Dog friendly: yes Cat friendly: yes  Child friendly: yes, older gentle children, please  House trained: yes Crate trained: yes  Energy level: Moderate  Temperament: loving, playful, tender-spirited  Adoption Fee: $425+tax- fee includes both dogs together To adopt, go to:   www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html From the Foster Family:  Trixie and Scrappy are a mother-son pair from  Alabama. Their owner had to give them up through no fault of their own. They are sweethearts and have been very easy fosters. They are potty trained, know the word “potty” and go to the door when they need to go. They must have had a fenced-in yard at their previous home and not go on walks because they are unsure how to walk on a leash. But they are learning! They are crate-trained and sleep together in one kennel through the night. Scrappy likes to play with toys but for the most part, they are just happy to hang out with you on the couch. They love each other very much and do everything together, it feels more like having one super dog than two separate ones. They would love to be in a quiet home where they can shower you with love and keep your lap warm.  Please fill out an application to meet these cuties!   July 14, 2024, 10:08 pm

Name: Bailey Age: 7 years Gender: Female Breed: German Shepherd mix Weight: 84 lbs Dog friendly: yes Cat friendly: yes Child friendly: yes Housetrained: yes Crate Trained: not needed and prefers to be left out  Energy level: Moderate Temperament: sweet, sidekick, loyal, intelligent Requirement: Not apartment appropriate  Adoption Fee: $275+tax To adopt, go to:   www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html   From the Foster Family: Bailey is a  marvelous dog who is also very smart, knows basic commands, and will even offer her paw for a friendly shake. She meshes well with our two dogs and has demonstrated that she's loyal, kind, and gentle. She walks politely on a leash, and quickly makes friends at the dog park too. Her backstory is sad because she was  rescued from a neighboring farm where she had been living in solute in a barn. When she first came to us, she was anxious and clingy from being left alone. She is now happy and healthy and loves others deeply. She currently is taking an allergy medication called Apoquel and doing well. She doesn’t need to be kenneled during the day or at night but would do well with someone home often.       July 14, 2024, 10:08 pm

Story
Name: Tabbee Age: Puppy / DOB: 11/18/23 Gender: Female Breed: Shepherd mix  Weight: 36 pounds Dog friendly: Yes  Cat friendly: Yes Child friendly: Yes (Any age) House trained: Yes, on a schedule still a puppy Crate trained: Yes Energy level: Medium Temperament: Shy at first but such a lover  Requirement: Not apartment appropriate  Adoption Fee: $500+tax   To adopt, go to: http://www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html   From the Foster Family: Tabee is a fantastic puppy who recently came up to MN from down south! She has been so easy and good mannered. She is so smart and wants to learn everything you're willing to teach her. With her treat drive, it's easy to teach her new things! She rarely has accidents in the home and is working on being 100% potty trained currently. Along with working on basic obedience.    She would love nothing more than to cuddle up and watch your favorite show with you or romp around with the other pups in the house or neighborhood. Her favorite toys are chew toys, rope toys, and squeaky toys!   She does good in her crate when we're gone but she does not like to be left alone (some separation anxiety from before she came up to MN). For this reason, we think she'd do best in a home where someone is around most of the time or if she had a fur-sibling to play with while you're away.    About Me: Hiya! I'm Tabee but my foster family calls me Tibby Tabbs because I tap dance when excited. I love playing with toys of all kinds and playing with my furry foster siblings.   Walks are still new but my foster parents praise me for not pulling on the leash too much and staying close to them! I LOVE being outside and rolling in the grass. I don't mind paw cleanings and baths, too! July 14, 2024, 10:08 pm

She is a gentle giant who is very well-mannered. We have found her to be easily startled and doesn't like thunderstorms or loud noises. She has made herself at home right away and loves to relax on the couch or sleep alongside us on the bed. About Me: I'm Lucy.....I'm the size of a lab....but the loyalty and mannerism of a Mastiff. I came up from Alabama and am loving MN so far!! I am afraid of many things, but I don't bark at all, not even at the delivery guy. I love walks and am so good on my leash. I'm not too good with jogging as I like to weave back and forth in front of my foster mom. I love treats and take them oh so gently. I love the dog park....and get along with all the dogs, big and small....and love to run and run! I have no interest in a ball or fetch or whatever I'm supposed to do with it. I'd rather run around and take in the scenery and smells. I love car rides and only drool when I like what you are eating!! July 9, 2024, 8:34 pm

Story
Name: Cal-Calley Age: 10 years Gender: Male Breed: Chihuahua Weight: 9 lb Dog friendly: yes Cat friendly: yes Child friendly: yes House trained: in progress Crate trained: yes Energy level: low/moderate  Temperament: snuggly lap dog with pops of energy Requirement: Not apartment appropriate  Adoption Fee: $175+tax To adopt, go to: www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html From the Foster Family: Cal is an absolute love bug who would snuggle all day if given the opportunity. He wants a forever home where people are around most of the time and he is welcome to snuggle on the furniture and in bed. He wiggles and snuggles his way into your arms – if you set him on the couch next to you, the next thing you know, he will be in your arms like a baby or curled up on your lap or side. He is delighted when you come home or for feeding time. He has a sweet and gentle soul and has done very well with our senior dogs, cats, chickens, and 3-year-old nephew when he visits. About Me: Cal was a well-loved Alabama lap dog until his owner passed away. After his owner passed, he was left outside until he was brought to a rescue, which left him temporarily terrified. He was in defense mode, very scared, and took days to warm up to his Alabama foster mom. Thanks to her loving care, he realized he was safe again. She said he was love-starved once he finally warmed up. He has been doing great since arriving in Minnesota on April 14 and is delighted to be with a family again! He is a glue stick and will follow you around the house and yard whenever possible. He appears to have been an indoor-only dog. He is somewhat nervous being outside, and he doesn’t like cold or rainy weather, screaming kids at the playground, bangs or loud noises, or large dogs barking at him. We are working on building his confidence. He appears to have been trained to use potty pads or washable pee pads in the past but is learning to bathroom outside, which he is learning well. He will need continued work on this, including restricted areas of the house and close supervision until he has learned better, regular trips outside, and extra patience when you are outside to wait until he goes to the bathroom. He enjoys walks, so this is a great opportunity to reinforce outside bathrooms and his confidence in being outside. He never learned stairs or how to jump on/off furniture, and takes a lot of carrying to get around, including getting outside at times. He is used to being around people as much as possible. He may have some separation anxiety and tends to whine, howl, or bark when left alone. We have been using a pen for when no one is home as well as a chill-out area when he gets too excited for the other senior dogs in the house or when he won’t bathroom outside but is probably due. He has been sleeping in a bed-side crate at night, although he would prefer to be snuggling in bed instead. He sleeps well on the bed and has no problem making it through the night as long as he is emptied before bedtime. He welcomes clothes, especially for going outside on cold days, and wears a harness to walk to avoid injuries to his tiny neck. July 14, 2024, 10:08 pm
