Story
FELICE - Lab-Mix / 10 years / 20kg / F-Spayed Beautiful Felice turns 10 in January and we hope to start her year off on the right foot! After being with the same family for the past 6 years, she finds herself ready for a new beginning! She has gone to bootcamp, and girl has been rocking it since day 1! She knows a lot of "rules" already and benefits from consistency. If you say place, she may give you a look that says "do you mean it" and if you simply give her a "yup" she will trot off to settle. She has been a bit confused by her role of "dog", but is catching on quickly to understand her place in the family. Her play style with other dogs is a smidge wonky, as if she hasn't learned to play. Her new canine buddy Michael is working with her on chase, sharing and having fun together. (She loves it!) She is great with dogs, but has the confidence to be a solo dog in the home. She is good with kids too and had some wee humans in her past home. If you think you could be Felice’s forever, check out the adoption process and application at www.dibsrescue.com. Her adoption fee is $500. If you are a family with kids, please check out our resources on kids and dogs before you apply (https://dibsrescue.com/kids-dogs/).

Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ana / Female / 5.5 years old / 65 lbs / Mixed Breed / Prefers To Be the Only Dog / No Cats / No Children Please / Fostered in Mississauga / From Mexico Meet Ana! Sweet Ana was found by our rescue partners struggling to survive on the streets while battling a severe skin infection. Sadly, people misunderstood her condition and deemed it contagious, leading to her being mistreated and shunned. Eventually, the local pound was called to take her away, but a kind person brought her to the shelter instead. Ana’s foster describes her as sweet and calm most of the time. She loves going on her walks and does well on a leash. She loves playing with her toys as well as her canine foster sister, however, on walks she is hesitant around dogs she is unfamiliar with. With that said, Ana could be the only dog in the home where she can soak up all the love and attention from her adoptive family. She is super sweet and a lot of fun when her goofy side comes out. She is very comfortable with people she knows, and people she is meeting for the first time, however, she will bark when someone new enters her home. Ana gets two walks a day and enrichment activities. She walks well on the leash and is comfortable in the car, ready for her next adventure. Ana is potty trained but may need an adjustment period when she moves homes. Ana is learning basic commands, like paw, sit and wait. Her adopter will need to continue basic training. Ana is not crate-trained and has free roam of the home. She has been left alone for 6 hours with no issues. She is not destructive in the home but she's very interested in food and will investigate anything left out. For her safety, all food needs to be stored out of reach. Ana sleeps through the night in her bed. Ana’s ideal family would be one that can include her daily activities, whether it be a good walk or a good snuggle. She is flexible and adaptable in her needs; she just needs someone committed to whom she can show her love to. Ana is a testament to resilience and love. This sweet girl has a heart full of affection and a longing for a forever family. Interacting with humans and her furry companions brings her so much joy. Her moderate energy level makes her an ideal partner for long walks and cozy cuddle sessions. Ana shows her love by following you around, seeking belly rubs and simply enjoying your company. Ana has shown prey drive toward cats and is looking for a cat-free home at this time. She has not been tested with children so we suggest that she is adopted into a child-free home. Ana has shown signs of protectiveness towards her foster parents. With that said, Ana will require proper and slow introductions when it comes to welcoming new people into the home as she can get overly excited. If you're interested in fostering with the intention of adopting Ana, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Ana's adoption fee is $250. Lexi is a sweet and special dog who is waiting for a forever home to call her own. She is curious, loving, enjoys little toys and all the cuddles from her trusted people. Lexi is much smaller than her photos make her look and is the perfect size for a calm cuddle on the couch. Lexi is described by her fosters as a relaxed girl who enjoys cuddles, toys and treats. She can be very shy at first and takes time to assess her surroundings, but once she is comfortable her loving personality shines! Lexi loves to play fetch, run outside and snuggle up for a good belly rub. With patience and time, Lexi will show you what a wonderful companion she is. With people she knows, Lexi is relaxed and always ready to soak up some love and attention. When meeting new people, Lexi will need time to warm up. She uses her crate as a safe space and needs support to learn it is safe to come out and get to know new people. Lexi has not met children yet, but given her calm nature we think she could live with older, respectful kids who understand her boundaries. Lexi is looking for a family with a home in a quiet area as loud city noises and busy streets make her nervous. A backyard in a quiet area would be great for Lexi to build her confidence outdoors. Lexi has recently started to venture into the world and with nicer weather, it’s the perfect time for her family to continue with this great progress. Lexi needs motivation and support from her humans, and sometimes a lift to get out of the door. Lexi is dog-social and would benefit from a canine sibling to help build her confidence and provide companionship. She could be a solo pet as long as she is provided opportunities to socialize. Lexi has not met cats but would likely be ok with proper introductions as she is passive in nature. As a nervous girl, Lexi is still learning that the outside world can be safe and fun. She is gradually learning to walk on leash, but will require support in this area. Lexi is very food-motivated, which makes her the perfect candidate for training. She loves to get her zoomies out in the yard, and is slowly gaining confidence to enjoy walks in quiet neighbourhoods, or parks. Lexi is a homebody and is on her best behaviour indoors. She is fully potty-trained and crate-trained. She can be left alone and is not destructive. She settles in her crate easily, as long as the crate is in a quiet part of the house away from windows and doors. Lexi is learning more commands over time. Her love of treats makes training a breeze! Lexi is a flight risk and our top priority in her furever home is safety. Her forever family must take precautions to keep her safe and secure, including the purchase of a GPS tracker, which will be required for adoption. Do you have a quiet, calm home and want a cuddly homebody? Lexi is your girl! If you’re interested in fostering with the intention of adopting Lexi, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Lexi’s adoption fee is $250. Story
Dexter / Male / Approx 2 years / 58 lbs / Australian Cattle Dog Mix / Good with Dogs / Good with Children / Good with Cats / Medium-Low Energy / From Tennessee / Fostered in Georgetown ** Follow Dexter's journey on Instagram: @gracies_fosters ** Meet Dexter! This handsome boy is full of joy and never-ending affection. His fosters describe him as happy, loving and gentle. Giving people hugs and kisses is one of his favourite things. He also loves to walk and cuddle up on the couch. Dexter wants to be part of whatever is happening with his humans whether it is walking, or lounging at home. Dexter is very affectionate, he likes to stick close to his trusted humans. He loves to give hugs and kisses and is so happy to greet you when you come home. True to his breed, Dexter is not always great at first impressions. He may occasionally take time to warm up, take it slow, and have time to observe and sniff. Dexter has lived with children ages 7 -17 and treated them the same as the adults. To Dexter, his humans are the best and he loves to play and cuddle with them all. While in foster care, Dexter became very sick and received a diagnosis of megaesophagus. He is feeling much better now but his diagnosis comes with some long-term care. Megaesophagus means that Dexter’s body doesn’t push food into his stomach the way it should. He is currently stable on medication and a regime of 3 meals per day fed while he is in an elevated position. Small amounts of regurgitation can be common for dogs with this condition and their health should be monitored. The use of a Bailey Chair for feeding is the standard for dogs with this condition and Dexter is working on becoming comfortable sitting in it. Dexter’s ideal home would be with a loving family who is ready for endless kisses and has a willingness to commit to his healthcare. He is young and enjoys a daily walk with a few chances for potty breaks throughout the day. If given proper exercise he could do well in any living arrangement. Although brief, having access to parks and greenspace will help him get his zoomies out. As a young dog, he is medium to low energy. He currently has one walk per day, as well as time outside to potty. Dexter does great on a leash. He loves to explore the outdoors and take in all the smells. Dexter is also a fan of fetch, tug, puzzle toys and chew toys but his favourite activity of all is receiving pets and attention. Since arriving Dexter has been working hard on his training. He loves food and is very clever, so it makes him fun to teach. He has good house manners and can be trusted alone. Dexter is housetrained. His new family should be prepared to continue his training. Dexter currently lives with other dogs and loves their company. He spends his days with them taking walks, sharing toys and cuddling. A home with another dog would be great for Dexter, but if given opportunities to socialize he would be ok as a solo pet. He has also lived with a cat and does well, both usually just keeping to themselves. If you are looking for a fun-loving companion, Dexter is your guy. He has so much love to give and will brighten up your home. If you’re interested in adopting Dexter, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Dexter’s adoption fee is $250. Story
King Tutt / Male / 2 years / 66 lbs / Mastiff Mix / Good with Dogs / No Cats Please / Good with Children / From Tennessee / Fostered in Toronto ** Follow King Tutt’s journey on Instagram @tk_fetchfosters Meet King Tutt! This beautiful brindle boy came to us from Tennessee where he, his brother and dad were left without a home. Despite his difficult past, King Tutt is full of charm and is sure to win over everyone he meets. King Tutt’s foster’s describe him as loyal, loving and playful. He loves to make new friends, whether human or canine. Being with his people is important to him, whether it is out on an adventure, playing at home, or lounging on the couch. King Tutt can be a silly guy, who enjoys exploring, playing with toys, swimming, and running in the yard. He will make a great addition to an active family. King Tutt is a social butterfly, who loves to meet new people, and soak up attention from those he already knows. He has shown no hesitation, and will greet people with excitement, ready for scritches and cuddles. King Tutt has met older children and done well. He sees them as more humans to give him love and attention and will soak it all up. He can get excited and jump, so interactions should be monitored. Although he has not met young children, given his demeanor we think he would do well with respectful, dog-savvy children. King Tutt is very adaptable and is happy to be where his people are. Given this he would do well in any living environment, so long as he has access to greenspace. A home with a yard would be amazing, as he loves to run and play, but if given sufficient exercise he will be good. He really does love to explore and play outdoors, so an active family that shares his love of nature would be perfect. Playing with other dogs is one of King Tutt’s favourite activities. He currently lives with another dog and enjoys his company. King Tutt would do well solo as well, he would just need opportunities to socialize and play with other dogs. King Tutt has not met cats yet, so we are looking for a cat-free home at this time. King Tutt is a busy guy, who needs both physical and mental activities each day. He is gradually learning his leash manners, and enjoys the time outside to sniff. He has shown no signs of reactivity, or fear with other people/dogs, or city sounds. He can pull when he gets excited, so his new family should be prepared to continue working with him with his leash manners. At home King Tutt is learning his house manners with ease. He is house-trained, crate-trained and working on his commands. He has not been given free reign of the house if he is alone yet, as he is curious and may counter surf. King Tutt is not overly food motivated, but he loves to make his humans proud, so training is lots of fun! Prior to coming into care, King Tutt tested positive for Ehrlichia which is a tick-borne infection and is not contagious. A CBC was performed to see if there is an active infection. King Tutt 's CBC came back indicating that there is no active infection however it is recommended that Ehrlichia positive dogs get an annual blood test to monitor and that pre-op blood work including a CBC test and platelet count be performed before any surgeries or dental extractions. King Tutt also has mild enamel hypoplasia which is thinning of the enamel on his teeth. Homecare will help with brushing but he may require professional dental cleaning in the future. He should avoid hard chews, toys, and treats as his teeth will be more prone to breaking during play. If you’re interested in adopting King Tutt, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form King Tutt’s adoption fee is $850. Curly/ Male / Approx. 9 months / 53 lbs / Lab Mix / Good with Calm Dogs / Untested with Kids / Untested with Cats / From Tennessee/ Fostered in Etobicoke **Follow Curly journey on Instagram: @curly.thecutie Meet Curly! Curly's foster describes him as a happy dog who loves snuggles and affection. Curly is originally from Tennessee. He was found in a field as a tiny newborn pup with his mom and siblings. He’s now being fostered in Etobicoke and is ready for his forever home. He loves attention and will remind you to keep petting him by putting a hand on your leg. Once he’s comfortable with you, he will even give you hugs. He is such a gentle boy and will thrive in the right home. He loves car rides, and barely sheds. This guy will make a great best friend! Although he is very friendly and attentive with those he knows well, he is not yet comfortable around men. He is making progress here. Curly is able to understand which people are known to his foster, and is more trusting of them. Once he knows you, Curly is very loving and is a great companion. Curly doesn’t do well with a lot of noise or chaos around him, so a family with kids may not be the best match. He would prefer an adult-only home, or one with older, dog-savvy teenagers. A fenced in yard or lots of space are not required to keep this boy happy. All he asks for is to be taken out 4-5 times daily to do his business. He would prefer a home that is more quiet than lively, outside of the city centre. His foster believes that with time and proper intros, Curly would do well with other dogs. That being said, he is currently wary of some dogs and prefers those with a calm energy. While he hasn’t met any cats in our care, it is also believed that with proper intros he would do well in a house with resident cats. He currently gets 4-5 walks per day. 3 of them are around an hour, and the other(s), around 30 minutes. His foster describes him as a 3 out of 10 on the energy scale. Curly walks well on a leash as long as he’s in a quieter area. He is very food motivated and is learning his basic commands quickly. He will need ongoing assistance when it comes to being comfortable around men. He doesn’t have much experience with them but is becoming more and more comfortable. When it comes to potty training, Curly has not had any accidents in the house. He is also crate trained and does very well with this. Curly has not been left alone often, or for more than a few hours. When he is left alone, he is usually crated and will calmly await his foster’s return. His foster has left him free reign for shorter periods with no issues at all. As a condition of the adoption contract, Curly’s new family will be required to: - Attend and complete a basic obedience class at your own cost (proof required) - Provide plenty of socialization opportunities – both dog and human – it's important at this stage If you’re interested in adopting Curly please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Curly’s adoption fee is $900. To learn more about our adoption fees and the adoption process, please visit our FAQs at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/about-us#about-faqs.
