Story
Meet Harley! This adorable boxer babe is three years old and weighs in around 60 pounds. She is eagerly awaiting a family that will love her for the wonderful pup she is! Our beloved Harley is currently enjoying some well-deserved time away from the kennel in a fabulous foster home! She is both crate-trained and house-trained! A bright and eager learner, Harley is ready to show off her skills! She knows commands like sit, down, shake, and off! With the help of high-value treats, she's ready to learn even more! When it comes time to play, she is ready and willing to have a good time! She likes her stuffed toys and enjoys chasing a ball. Playing tug is her favorite! A fenced in yard for her to romp in is a must for this fun-loving pup! Harley enjoys going for walks and does best when harnessed. Up for exploring? She rides well in the car and is ready to join you on all of your adventures! At the end of a fun-filled day, Harley is perfectly content to spend her day lounging inside with her people. She enjoys snuggling in with cozy blankets on her favorite spot on the couch. She sleeps quietly through the night, grateful for foster family and hopeful her forever family will soon come her way. Based on our evaluation, Harley would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. She has lived with kids before and adores them! Although Harley is dog selective, we feel she would do best as the only animal in the home. She needs an experienced adopter who is ready to train her and form a lifelong bond. If you think you could be the family to give Harley the forever home she deserves, please visit greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application today!

Story
Meet Beck! LONGEST KENNEL RESIDENT! NEEDS A FOSTER DESPERATELY! Hubba hubba here he comes! Beck is a one-year-old lab/plott hound mix who's 60 pounds of pure love! Beck is hands down one of the most affectionate pups you'll ever meet. He is very timid around new people, but once you've earned his trust, he makes no secret his goal in life is to be close! He actively seeks affection and gives the best hugs in town. His new family will need to be very patient and encouraging with him. We promise you he's worth the wait. Once you're in, you're in for life! Beck had a few days away with one of our volunteers and he loved every second of it! It took him all of five minutes to find the toy bin and he helped himself to every single toy in there. Tough toys are best our playful pup and he is always up for a game of fetch! They were able to take toys/food away with no issue. He enjoys a relaxing neck rub and will roll over for some belly rubs too! Beck has done well being crated for a few hours at a time and with more repetition, we think that will continue. This lovable pup appears to be house-trained as well. Beck does well with other dogs and has a vocal playstyle. If you're looking for a pal for your family fur baby, Beck could be your boy! Excited to follow his nose and explore new surroundings, Beck does well on leash. As he is still a young man, he will benefit from continued training as he grows. His new family will need to keep him active and engaged and a yard for him to enjoy is a must for his handsome boy! Training will be an excellent way to form a lifelong bond. Though he does need some work on his manners, Beck responds very well to correction. When it comes time to eat, Beck appears to be a grazer. He takes his treats gently and Nudges are one of his favorites! He gets his evening zoomies and then is ready to relax for the night. Once settled, he sleeps quietly through the night. When it comes time to travel, Beck does well in the car and loves to take in the scenery on your trip. Based on our evaluation, we feel Beck would do well in an active home with adults or families with kids ages 16 and up. He enjoys hanging with other dogs and we feel he would be a great buddy for another pup. We are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. Don't spend another day without this lovey-dovey boy! Head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for our bubbly Beck!

Story
Hey everyone! Lily here from GLDR! I'm a two-year-old, 45-pound, Aussie mix who is ready to zoomie my way into your life! After sitting in the kennel since October without a single application, my fabulous foster mom brought me home to her place to hang out while I wait for my forever family to come my way. She says I'm the best houseguest and I am so thankful for the break she's given me. I'm happy to report I'm both house-trained and crate-trained! I spend my days enjoying my favorite stuffy toys and daily walks. I'd love to have a yard of my own at my new home where I can sprint the day away! A fenced-in yard would be preferred, though a tie out could work as long as I get my daily exercise. When it comes to food, I'm always up for a meaty treat and like to hide them around the house to enjoy whenever I please! I've been told I'm a very smart pup and I love food puzzles and lots of enrichment. I know my basic commands and am capable of learning more. Keeping me exercised and engaged is the best way to keep me happy! I'd do best with an experienced handler and someone who loves being outside exploring as much as I do. My foster mom says I have great recall. Up for a road trip? I do well in the car and look forward to all the places we could go together! At the end of a fun-filled day, I love to snuggle up on the couch with my foster mom. I prefer to lay my head in your lap and will gently paw you to let you know to keep those pets coming! I sleep quietly through the night in my crate and I've been old I have the cutest little snore! What type of home am I looking for? Glad you asked! I'd love an active home with adults or older children. If you have kids, they should be ages 12 and up and be respectful when I'd like my space. Though I have lived with other dogs before, I'm selective with my furry friends so a meet and greet would be best. If I'm being honest, I think I'd prefer to be the only pup in the house to soak up all the love on my own. If I sound like your kind of gal, please fill out an application at greatlakesdogrescue.com today! See you soon!

Story
Meet Geri! This lively, 40-pound pharaoh hound/lab mix is almost two years old and is eagerly looking forward to experiencing all life has to offer with a family! Geri came to us from one of our rescue partners and we are so glad to have her here at GLDR! Her blue and brown eyes captivate you from the start. She is a social gal who can wiggle with the best of them. Geri loves being outside and is great on a leash. Her new family will need to commit to keeping her active and engaged. A yard for her to enjoy is a must for this spectacular pup! Some of our volunteers took Geri on an outing and she didn't disappoint. She's a rockstar in the car and took that opportunity to take a snooze on the way to the park. She enjoyed a long hike before heading out for a pup cup which she loved. As she is still a young lady, Geri's forever family will need to devote time to training, play, and snuggles of course! What better way to spend your time than hanging out with this amazing pup? Based on our evaluation, we feel she would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight years and up. She may have the potential to live in a home with other animals as well. We are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If you think Geri could be the pup for you, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for our gorgeous Geri!

Story
Meet Heather! Hey everyone! Heather here from GLDR! I'm a six-year-old, 40-pound, Boston/terrier mix who is ready to brighten your day with my winning grin and wiggly wags. I am very thankful to be living with my foster mom, dad, and their two kids (ages 3 and 5). As if that wasn't cool enough, they also have a dog who I love to play with. I've even hung out with other family pups and have done very well. If you're looking for an affectionate fur sibling for your family dog, I'm game for a meet and greet anytime! I'm happy to report I'm both house-trained and crate-trained!! I absolutely adore my foster family and will soak up every ounce of love you have to give! I'd definitely consider myself a lap dog! You can usually find me snuggled up with my people, surrounded by as many cozy blankets as I can get my paws on! My foster family is working with me to learn new commands and I already know "sit, stay and wait". I'm not really one for too many toys as I prefer to spend my time cuddling. When it comes time for treats, I like soft treats and will enjoy the occasional ice cube. While I do like exploring the yard, I'd much prefer to be warm and cozy inside. If we do head out in the cold, I always wear my coats and sweaters to help keep me warm. What type of home am I looking for? Glad you asked! I'm a pup who enjoys life's simple pleasures and just wants to be part of your day. Everyone says I can go to a home with kids of any age as I have great manners. I love everyone I meet and am looking for a family that wants a snuggle buddy to treasure. They think I'd love to live with a fellow fur sibling too, though it's not a requirement. If I sound like your kind of gal, please fill out an application at greatlakesdogrescue.com today! See you soon!

Story
Hey everyone! Grasshopper here from Great Lakes Dog Rescue! I’m a super social nine-month-old, 45-pound mixed breed beauty who is ready to hop my way into your home! After sitting at the kennel without a single application, I'm now living it up with a fabulous foster and loving every minute of it! I currently live with my foster mom, my two amazing fur brother siblings, and a cat. Being around other dogs has helped me build my confidence so if your fur baby is looking for a pal, just let me know when and where! I'm interested in the cat and think I could live with one that isn't afraid to put me in my place-lol. I'm happy to report I'm house-trained and crate-trained! I’m learning several new commands and know I can learn even more. As I'm still a young lady, I'll benefit from continued training in my new home. I enjoy all sorts of treats and take them gently. Playtime is an important part of my day and would love a family to keep me exercised and engaged. When it comes time for toys, the tougher the better! I’m decent on a leash, and my recall is improving every day. I'm getting more comfortable in the car and would be happy to accompany you on your next adventure. At the end of a fun-filled day, I'm always up for some snuggles and will give you kisses to show you just how much I love our life together. When bedtime comes around, I sleep quietly through the night, thankful for this time with my foster family. Based on their evaluation, my GLDR friends think I'd do best in an active home with adults or families with kids of all ages. If you'd like to introduce me to your family fur baby, I'll be there! Please fill out an application at greatlakesdogrescue.com and my friends at GLDR will be in touch!
