Story
Maeve is a little over a year old. Her DOB is May 21, 2023. Pros - Maeve is probably the most intelligent dog I've ever owned. Extremely food motivated. Learned sit and paw almost immediately. Very loving and kissy with humans. As a puppy when socializing began, I took her to Tractor Supply to see how she would do. If a stranger stopped to admire her, she would immediately sit without having to be told. She's very eager to please. She loves car rides, especially when she knows she's going to doggy daycare. Cons - I rescued a puppy two weeks before getting Maeve. Their birthdays are 12 days apart, Maeve being the younger of the two. At around 6 months, I began to see some littermate syndrome signs. Maeve is very rough with her sister, and I've seen her be pretty aggressive with her, pinning her on the ground, etc. She also resource guards and is jealous when her sister is near. No instances of it at doggy daycare as I have a conversation with the trainer each day I pick her up.

Story
Meet Waylon. He is one of the most fun-loving pups you could ever meet. He loves walks (although he thinks he’s in charge), chew toys, and will do anything for a treat. He has been our best Bud for the past 6 months. Unfortunately he has not taken too kindly to our cat and thinks she is just a hard to catch treat. He’s just as content sitting and snuggling as he is running around outside playing fetch. He is house trained for the most part. He has an accident every now and then if he gets too excited but that’s it. But overall he is a super sweet pup that really deserves the world and hope his next owners can give that to him!

Story
Frito is a four-year-old pit bull mix who was originally adopted from BARCS in Baltimore City. He is very sweet, goofy, and strong, and weighs about 75 lbs. He is neutered. Unfortunately, we are having to rehome him because he did not get along with our cat. He does NOT get along with cats or other small animals at all and would likely do best in a home where he is the only pet. Ideally, his new home would be with an experienced and patient dog owner who does not have any children or other animals in the house. He is treat-motivated and would benefit from extra enrichment (i.e. walks, places to run, chew toys, etc.). He is an incredibly loving boy and interacts well with adults and older teenagers. If you are looking for an energetic addition to your life, please reach out! (Please note that the rehoming fee will be donated in its entirety to BARCS.)

Story
NAME: Mr. Breakfast BREED: Pit Bull/Mystery Mix BIRTHDAY: 2011 WEIGHT: 50lbs ADOPTION FEE: $200   When we saw Mr. Breakfast on Facebook, we were drawn to more than just his goofy name. The toothless grin, chewed-up ears, crusty cataract eyes... this is just our kind of guy. We asked for a cat and a dog test from the shelter, got the green light on both, and got Mr. Breakfast the heck out of South Carolina. &#226&#128&#139 In foster care, Mr. Breakfast has been an absolute gem. He ignores the cats, plays with (and gets chomped by) the dogs, and loves all the people who come to visit him. He has done very well with house training, is crate trained (although not a fan of the crate), and relatively quiet.  Mr. Breakfast uses his remaining molars to chew bones and toys, enjoys spending time in the fenced yard, and rides well in the car. We keep walks to a minimum because of his heartworm, but he does like to go for short jaunts to explore the neighborhood.  &#226&#128&#139 Mr. Breakfast will need a patient and dedicated adopter to help him live his best life: GOT will pay for heartworm treatments (we are doing slow-kill because of his age and heart issues, which is just Advantage Multi each month). What this guy really is looking for is someone who can be compassionate as he adjusts to life indoors, who doesn't mind doing a little extra laundry, and who can appreciate this wonderful dog because he deserves the whole world. If you can't adopt at this time, please consider sharing or donating to help us cover the cost of Mr. Breakfast's care!July 3, 2024, 4:23 pm

Story
NAME: Poppy BREED: Pit Bull Mix BIRTHDAY: 2023 WEIGHT: 50lbs ADOPTION FEE: $250   Poppy came to use from a small rural shelter in NC. We had pulled two lovely beagles from them and were happy to work with them again to save one more (even if "one more" was a half-grown pup!). Poppy was just like her videos- nervous but sweet and eager to make new dog friends. She's not sure about new people just yet (although she absolutely loves her foster mom and is a constant shadow/snuggle buddy), but just needs some time to get to know new human friends before turning into a sweet and snuggly companion. She has shown no aggression towards strangers but may be a little rough for very small children. Poppy is house and crate trained, rides well in the car and needs work on leash walking. She lives with dogs of all sizes but would be fine as an only dog provided she has appropriate exercise. Canine friends should be ready for a rough and tumble playmate, or ready to correct if they're only interested in a casual friendship. . Fast approaching her terrible twos, Poppy will need basic training and structure to thrive in her new home. Of course, if you don't mind a little bit of chaos she is fine "as is"! &#226&#128&#139 Why take a chance on Poppy? There's nothing really extraordinary about her, she's just a regular brown pit bull. But that's why she needs your help- she has been overlooked for almost a year, and deserves more than a life in foster care. Please consider this good girl, or share if you are not able to adopt at this time .July 3, 2024, 4:23 pm

Story
NAME: Chickie BREED: Beagle Mix BIRTHDAY: 2012 WEIGHT: 35lbs ADOPTION FEE: $200   Chickie came to us when her owners (thankfully) surrendered her to a VA shelter. They had been keeping her in a pen outside 24 hours a day, despite their claims that she has grass allergies. What really seemed to be happening to poor Chickie was a bad flea infestation, untreated, that left her with half of her hair missing. After months of treatment and medications, her skin is healthy but it appears her hair will never grow back. We give her Apoquel for itching but she is otherwise in good overall health.  &#226&#128&#139 Chickie has put her years of neglect behind her: she is happy in foster care and is a pretty easy girl. Although she is friendly and has never snapped or even growled at anyone, she is still a little head shy and would do best in a home without small children. She does very well with dogs of all sizes, but should be placed in a home without cats. What she really wants is a place where she can get a nice mix of her own space (with her favorite toy football to play with), and attention in the form of walks and snacks. Chickie is crate trained but will need a reminder course on house training. She would love a fenced yard to stretch her legs, sunbathe, and spend time with her forever family.July 3, 2024, 4:23 pm
