Story
Rosie is a sweet nine year old purebred red piebald dachshund. Her family moved and couldn't take her along. She spent her entire life with her previous family and needs time to adjust to a new living situation. Rosie has beautiful blue eyes, one is smaller than the other (congenital issue). She had a tumor removed in September 2022. She's had eight years of excellent veterinary care and is in great health. Rosie is spayed and current on vaccinations, and as of her vet visit 11/9/22, she weighs 19 pounds. She will be microchipped before she leaves. Rosie lived with three other small-breed dogs (all younger than her), and she did very well. She's selective about which dogs she's making friends with in her foster home, and has gone after other dogs (almost exclusively female dogs). She needs to be placed in a home without other female dogs for her own safety. Rosie can be food aggressive toward other animals (cats included), but not toward humans. She needs to be fed in her own area away from other pets. Rosie is a dachshund and as such she cannot live with rabbits or other small pets - she will try to kill them. Kids are no problem. Rosie loves her two-legged foster siblings (ages 9 and up). She has a good recall (most of the time) while in a fenced area (poor recall if allowed to run loose), but she walks well on a leash. She does well being let out every three hours throughout the day, but will have accidents if she's not let out regularly. Her previous home left potty pads on the floor, her foster home relies on outdoor potty training. Rosie does howl and cry if she thinks she is home alone. She would do best in a home with someone who can be with her full time - or can bring her with them to work - or can have a pet nanny or dog sitter with her at all times. Rosie's original family would like to stay in touch and get updates if at all possible. Rosie is available for adoption to an approved home that can meet her specific needs. Her adoption fee is $375.

Story
Spur is a sweet, playful boy who has gone through professional training and is ready to show his skills off to the rest of the world with his forever family! Spur in his "big boy" body but is still a playful puppy at heart. Spur got to fly on a plane with his mom Ruby when he was 6 months old to go from Texas to Minnesota where he will have a much better chance in life. It was the first time spur had ever been out of a shelter and he had a lot to learn about life on the outside. He has made so much progress! He went to professional board and train at liberty K9 where he graduated his obedience class. He is a favorite of his trainers! He is super food motivated and eager to please and learn. Although he has come so far he can still have his skittish tendencies in certain circumstances, there is still so much experience. Spur hasn't been around many children and is little afraid of them, so he would be best in a home with older calmer children or no kids at all. He has been venturing out into the world a lot and experiencing parks and trails where he has done an amazing job exploring and learning about everything around him. Spur has a great nose and loves to sniff everything. Spur is a happy playful puppy and loves to play with people or dogs. Although he is still learning boundaries and may need some guidance while he continues to work through what is and is not appropriate. Luckily for any adopter Spur comes with the tools and training plan to work through his teenage phase (thanks Liberty!). He knows Sit, down, place, leave it and he walks well on a leash. Spur loves his people and enjoys following them around the house throughout the day and getting in some cuddles on the couch! Do you have a spot on your couch?

Hooch is a one-of-a-kind pup with a heart of gold. Don't be fooled by his initial "excited pitty wiggles" - this gentle giant instantly calms down and showers you with affection. Kids? Those are his JAM! He LOVES kids! He checks in on them and watches over them in the correct way. He absolutely loves other dogs. Hooch craves the ability to show his humans love and affection He loves his toys, car rides, and even joins in on your stretching routines (with a hilarious head tilt first). Hooch is already potty-trained, knows basic commands, and practices good manners (waiting for his food and walks). He's eager to please and mastering leash walking and recall.

Mari is such a dream girl, she's a great size, loves dogs, cats, kids all adults. She's better not in an apartment as she does like to let her voice be heard. She's very agile as you can see, she likes to stand on things and watch the squirrels. She would make a great addition to any person or family that doesn't share walls with others.

Story
Meet Jack, the Purrfect Playmate! Hey there! I'm Jack, a 2-year-old, neutered, and fully vaccinated good boy, ready to steal your heart. I'm a social butterfly who loves playing with other dogs and cuddling up with my human family. I'm a quick learner, already mastering the art of sitting and crate training. I'm a gentle giant who's great with kids and other dogs. I've even met a few cats and politely ignored them. I'm a sunshine lover, happiest when I'm lounging on the porch or frolicking in the grass. While I'm still working on my leash walking skills, I'm eager to learn and can't wait to explore the world by your side. Are you ready to add a furry friend to your family? I'm ready to be yours! Alton's adoption fee is $400. plus MN tax which covers his neuter, vaccines, microchip and any additional medical care he may have needed while in the rescue's care. We are a foster based rescue, we do not house dogs at a facility. Age and breed are NLR's best guess as we often don't know who or what mom and dad are. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website. www.northernlakesrescue.org

Gianna is a sweet and affectionate girl who loves having all your attention. She enjoys snuggling up for a movie, taking naps, and receiving belly rubs. She gets along great with kids and everyone she encounters. Gianna is well-trained in her potty habits and crate behavior, and she responds well to basic commands. When it comes to meeting other dogs, she requires a little patience, as she is selective about her furry friends. Gianna strikes the perfect balance between being laid-back and adventurous, relishing car rides and being your loyal companion on all your outings. The adoption fee is $400 plus MN tax which covers her spay, vaccinations, microchip and any additional medical care she may have needed while in the rescue's care.
