Story
Meet Redd, a spirited little guy who’s ready to find his forever home! At 14 years young, Redd was surrendered by his former family but was fortunate enough to be welcomed into a loving foster home with COALDR just an hour later. This delightful pup has more spunk and energy than many dogs half his age! Each morning, he bounds outside with enthusiasm, eager to explore his yard and greet his doggy friends. Weighing in at just 11 pounds, Redd is a charming Poodle/Maltese mix and is currently fostered in Smithfield, VA. Redd has a cataract in one eye and is likely blind in that eye. His other eye has age-related vision loss, but he can see shadows and navigates his environment quite well. Redd is house-trained but prefers to use pads overnight. He’s had a thorough medical check-up and is in excellent health. This lovable boy gets along great with everyone, so a home with older, respectful children would be ideal. Because of his limited sight, he may not be comfortable around very young kids. Redd loves mealtime and isn’t shy about expressing his impatience if he has to wait. Aside from that, he’s quite a calm pup who would do well in an apartment setting. Redd enjoys leisurely walks and loves spending time outside, exploring his yard. He’s great with other dogs and adores every person he meets. If you’re ready to give this fun-loving little fellow a cozy retirement home, please complete an application to adopt him!

Story
Can anyone resist this guy?? Meet Butter, a loving & sweet 4 year old piebald dachshund. Unfortunately, in his short life he has been passed around to numerous homes & we are not certain of his background. His last known home was someone who sold him on Craig's list. He is too sweet of a dog for this to have happened. He can be a bit nervous at times so a quiet home without any children is a must for him. He does have a little separation anxiety but we feel if placed in the right home with the right doggie companion that he will be fine. He loves people & other dogs. He has the most sweetest & good natured personality! He loves to cuddle! Butter wants to sit on your lap or by your side when you are watching tv, reading a book or working. Any & all times really! Sleeping in the BIG BED at night is a MUST! Butter NEEDS another pup in the home as he loves to play & cuddle. He also looks to another pup for reassurance. The current pup in the home must have a docile personality as Butter is very submissive & does not read other dog cues well. He thinks everyone wants to be his friend all the time! So a pup with an easy going & submissive personality will be a good match for him. He is very active so he needs a pup also who can match him in energy level & size. He has a pretty strong prey drive so a fenced in yard is a must!!! He is crate & house trained. He is leash trained & enjoys walking. We walk him around our neighborhood as well as take him to other places to explore. He MUST be kept on leash at all times! Regarding cats - He would do okay with a dog savvy cat but would be better with no cats in the home for everyone's peace! This little guy will just melt your heart. The second you see him all in the world is better! He is neutered, microchipped & UTD on vaccines. He has no known health issues. His adoption fee is $600. He is available for a meet & greet to approved adopters ONLY. Please apply for him at www.coaldr.org.

Story
Hello! My name is Boone, and I am the goodest boy! The foster lady calls me “King of Chaos”, whatever that means, because I like to chew stuff. But I’m a puppy so what do you expect? I’m looking for someone other than this lady to give me a home so I can have stuff to destroy as much as I want. Oh, and a fenced yard to play in, and another active canine friend would be awesomeness, too! If you have all those cool things, I’d love to be your goodest boy forever and ever and always. Boone is neutered and up to date on vaccinations and ready to find his forever home! Boone is fostered in Smithfield, VA.

Story
Big Papi has a big personality in a tiny body! He came from a busy, high-kill shelter in GA. Not sure how this cutie ended up on death's row because he is one fabulous pup. Papi is 8lb of adorableness. He is about 8 years old and is his foster Mom's constant shadow. Papi wants to play with his foster brother & sister (although they are not interested) & loves his zoomies around the yard. He also loves snacks, cuddling on the couch watching TV, neighborhood walks and riding in the car. Papi does get nervous in new situations but warms up to strangers quickly. He'd do best in a home with no small children due to his size. Currently being fostered in SC but transport is available to adopters on the east coast.

Story
Manny is a 4 year old red dachshund mix who was surrendered to an area shelter through no fault of his own. He is now looking for a home with an experienced dachshund owner. He can be a bit of a resource guarder with his person but as long as he is managed correctly it is not a problem. He will need these boundaries established from the beginning when entering the household as to not confuse him. He cannot be alpha!! He is very loving & sweet with people. He loves to burrow & cuddle with his person! You will find that he enjoys evenings or nap times burrowed under a blanket with his person on the couch. He also loves to play with other dogs & hang out with them as well. He would benefit from being placed in a home with ONE other pup similar in size & energy. He is also looking for a fenced in yard. Manny is crate & house trained (like a dachshund!). He does do well with cats. No children please. He would do best also in a quiet home. He does not like a lot of commotion & can get a bit anxious. In order to set him up to succeed, his foster family has trained him to go into an xpen that they have set up in a bedroom for some down time if he gets overstimulated. It works for him & keeps everyone safe. He has no issue being crated or in his pen. Right now he sleeps in the pen at night but he has 3 other foster siblings. When he is placed in a home with one other pup, the dynamics of that may change as he is a cuddler & would enjoy sleeping with his people. Manny is neutered, microchipped & UTD on vaccines. He has no known health issues. His adoption fee is $550.He is available for a meet & greet to an approved applicant. Manny will make a perfect second pup for your dachshund family. Please apply for him at coaldr.org.
