Story
Hello, This handsome boy is Pyro. Pyro is a Black German Shepherd born 05/15/2023. Currently in Rhode Island from Georgia. He loves to play outside and loves toys. Last weigh in at vet was 67 pounds and still growing at only 1 year old now. Previous dog owner recommended as German Shepherds can be very smart and get their way if you dont put your foot down. Currently he spends about 10 hours a day or a bit more when Im at work which is not fair to him. He has plenty of energy as 1 years olds do but usually after a walk or a good meal he wants to nap. Just like a human toddler he fights his sleep but eventually gives in. Trained to potty outside and sleeps in covered crate still. Loves outdoors but sleeps inside. Active lifestyle recommended and fenced yard. Up to date on all shots and currently on Simperica Trio for Flea, Tick, and Heartworm Prevention. Willing to surrender him for free to right owner and home. He is scheduled to be neutered in June of this year.

Story
Bella is affectionate and paper trained. She had her booster shot including Lyme protection. She needs to get rabies shot. She might have microchip and a vet can tell. She is doesn't like my other female dog. She got monthly simparica on Friday to protect against heartworm and fleas, she does need haircut and grooming. She hasn't been around children. She likes to go for a walk on her leash. She weighs about 15 pounds. She would be a good companion for a single person or a couple and is affectionate.

He is a good dog. Loves his treats. not very active, sleeps a lot.. Needs more exercise than i can provide. This dog belonged to my girlfriend who passed away and is very attached to me. will bark at anyone that comes to house ,but will not attack. His bark is scary but give him a treat and he will be your friend. I love this dog but i cannot keep him any longer due to medical issues on my part) this IS VERY HARD FOR ME BUT IT IS NECESSARY.

Story
Danner is a 1 year, 5 month old handsome red boy. This smiling boy weighs approximately 55 lbs and is the sweetest, gentle but playful boy you will meet. He has one of the saddest stories. This sweet boy was on death row. He was set for euthanasia in April of 2023, as a 3-month-old puppy. An amazing person pulled him from the euthanasia list, but with no rescue backing or help, they just wanted to make sure he wasn’t euthanized. Danner has patiently waited over a year for his forever family. He has grown up in a home he didn’t know wasn’t his forever one. He gets along great with other dogs and doesn’t even mind cats, he does NOT have a high prey drive. Danner’s favorite activities involve laying around in the house, playing with toys and being free in the yard to sunbathe or just run around and stretch out. This awesome boy is a diamond in the ruff. He is so calm but entertaining, just wants to be in your arms and get lots of pets. He will be your most loyal companion, your shadow and your best friend. Danner will follow you around everywhere he can if allowed. He is not a leader, and would do fantastic with another dog in the home to be friends with or to learn how to be a true house dog. He is mostly crate and house trained. Danner would do great with a medium active household as he loves his walks, would do great on shorter runs (he has never been on a run, but he could get the hang of it!). He would thrive on going on adventures and exploring the outdoors. He is still a puppy at heart and does need proper training and stimulation to make him the best version of himself. Danner has waited over a year for his home, please help us help him find it. Adoption fee includes: Spay or neuter, current negative heart worm test, current parvo/distemper vaccines, bordatella (kennel cough), rabies vaccination, flea/tick and heart worm prevention, dewormer, microchip, health certificate from a veterinarian, and transport costs from Texas to the East coast.

Story
Talia is a beautiful 2 year old husky mix that is looking for her forever family. This awesome girl weighs 53 lbs and has been in foster care for about 10 months. Talia was found roaming the rural areas of South Texas, hungry, emaciated, dehydrated… but hopeful. She ran up to a good Samaritans vehicle, tail wagging and excited to see a human being that acknowledged her. Talia is house trained and is the bestest girl ever. She is very gentle and would make a fantastic companion and house dog. She loves to be close to you and snuggle up. She is playful, but she would much rather relax, layout or nap around the house or in the yard on a nice day. Talia gets along great with other dogs, and she doesn’t even mind kitties! She gets along with children and would do great with almost all ages. She can be active if needed to play with them. Talia would do great going on walks or would be fine without them. She’s not picky at all and is one of the most relaxed dogs you’ll meet. Please help us in finding this amazing girl a home. Adoption fee includes: Spay or neuter, negative heart worm test, current parvo/distemper vaccines, bordatella (kennel cough), rabies vaccination, flea/tick and heart worm prevention, dewormer, microchip, and transport costs from Texas to the East coast. TO APPLY TO ADOPT: Please fill out an application on our website to adopt: www.ruraltank.org/adopt Most of our animals are located in Texas unless otherwise specified at the top of their bio. They are available for transport once adopted – There are different companies we use, all are USDA licensed. We have transport companies that can go directly to your door (this option costs slightly more, but it’s a smaller transport and more one on one care). This company can go as far as the Canadian border along the east coast. We use larger companies who are just as fantastic, this transport is included in the adoption fee, but they meet at general stops along the route, depending on where adopters are located for that specific transport. Most transports have stops in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Connecticut. We will go over more specifics once you are an approved adopter.

Story
***These babies are currently being fostered in the Pawtucket, RI area*** Simba, Mufasa and Kiara are our Lion King litter who are looking for their forever homes! These babies have not had it easy. They were born on the streets to unknown parents and have been fending for themselves since they were able to walk. The neighbors watched them grow but did not notify anybody about them until they were running in and out of the streets, barely missing from getting hit by cars. We were able to get 1 of the puppies about 6 weeks ago but unfortunately these 4 were a bit more elusive so it took more time to catch them, but we did not give up! We estimate they were born around April 20, 2024. The puppies are all quite different! Simba is the smallest, longest and shortest one. He is not growing almost at all and staying around 8 lbs. We do not believe he will get over 25 lbs full grown. Mufasa is longer and has shorter legs also, but not as short as Simba. Mufasa is only 2 lbs bigger than Simba, so we believe he won’t get over 30 lbs full grown. Kiara has longer legs and looks more lab/border collie like – we think she had a different dad. We estimate she will be around 40 lbs full grown Kiara is the friendliest of the group and loves to cuddle in bed and get lots of loves. The brothers are a bit more hesitant still of humans, but they LOVE to follow you around and be near you. It’s so adorable watching Simba and Mufasa run after the foster, their little legs going as fast as they will carry them. They are stubs for sure! Once separated from each other, we believe they will thrive in a home. These pups love you once they get to know you and trust you. The foster has spent a couple weeks with them and they’re already coming around and taking treats and getting love. They have been on the streets so long; they’re just learning that humans can be good and can be trusted. They are a bit timid at first and will definitely need a medium to quite calm household that has patience and understanding that they have not had an easy life to start off with. They are still puppies, so they do have the puppy energy, but they are not overactive. Another dog in the household would truly help these babies as they do need to gain confidence. They love other dogs and get super excited when other ones are around. As of right now, we are not recommending young children for Simba and Mufasa as sudden and fast movements are very scary for them and they cower, worried about what may happen. If only they could talk and tell us what happened to them when they were younger so we could help better. They are at the prime age though where they can be socialized and given a chance at a beautiful life. They are almost scared of their own shadow sometimes. They have met kitties and do fine with them 😊 If you can provide a safe, calm, loving, patient home for one of these sweet, gentle, calm, loving, adorable puppies, please consider applying today.
