Story
We are reaching out to our Bichon-loving community with a special request on behalf of a very special pup. His name is Dexter, and he has been super happy in his current foster home, but now he needs a special person to be his Forever Foster. Let's tell you more about this happy-go-lucky little bundle of energy and joy. Dexter is seven years old and is a Maltese-poodle mix (who looks an awful lot like a Bichon, in our opinion!) Dexter was born with a neurological disorder that affects his equilibrium and his ability to walk--but he doesn't let that get him down! He's too smart for that...nothing stops him. BROC has equipped him with the latest and greatest doggie wheels, of course, and he's a champion driver--but even without his wheels he can scramble around the yard to chase his foster brother as well as any other dog. His technique might not win awards, but he doesn't care! He gets where he wants to go, with or without wheels. Speaking of "go"...Dexter is fully housebroken. All he needs is someone to take him to the potty place a few times a day (same as any other dog), and that is one of the reasons Dexter needs a special person. He can't get to the yard on his own, and it isn't safe for him to be alone out there anyway. Dexter's special person also would need to ensure Dexter's safety in the home. Being that Dexter is not so graceful (did we mention he doesn't care?) his person needs to make sure the home is safe--without things that could harm him if he were to, let's say, meet them head-on at cruising speed. His current foster mom created a large, enclosed "Dexter Den," with a big bed, his favorite toys, water of course, and plenty of space to move around. Dexter stays in his den when his foster mom needs to leave the house. When she's home, he can hang in his den or roam around. The bottom line is this: Apart from his neurological condition, Dexter is a very normal, healthy dog who is full of joy and very loving. Everyone he meets falls in love with him. He doesn't require a lot of special work, but he needs special help and attention...thus it takes a special person. If you have room in your heart and home for delightful Dexter, please complete the application on the BROC website. For the question asking "What Kind of Fostering Are You Interested In?" select the "Forever" option. Thank you!
