Story
Rescued from an area shelter, Wyatt had come in as a stray. They suspected that he had been attacked because of the multiple injuries and lacerations on him. He also had hundreds of foxtails embedded in his fur that took days and finally a medicated bath to clear out. When we saw the photos sent out by the shelter, we knew that we had to help. Through it all, Wyatt has been sweet and very tolerant of all the handling he needed, even by strangers. This handsome boy is 1 year and was in desperate need of some extra TLC and medical care. We are happy to report that he is healthy. He is meeting lots of new friends, human and dog, and seeks out affection and play. He loves toys, which he likes to carry, toss and de-stuff himself. He is comfortable on the soft couch and dog-bed but he also likes hanging out in the backyard. Wyatt is gaining the confidence, training and experience a youngster needs. He is housetrained, neutered and up to date on all his vaccinations. Wyatt now looks forward to his leash walks each day but he especially loves playtime with other dogs. He can adjust his playstyle but he really likes playing with other rough and tumble dogs. If you are looking for a very sweet, affectionate boy who is looking to love and be loved, then Wyatt is your guy.

Story
Clifford reminds us of Scooby-Do but he is not as big. He is 3 years old and an agile 45 lbs. If you are looking for a sleek, sweet and sensational pup, Clifford is your guy. He would love a house full of tennis balls. He can play fetch endlessly but will not keep bugging you when you stop playing. He alerts you to strangers at the door but will quiet down once you reassure him that they are OK. We describe him as a super mutt as we assume that he has lots of different dogs DNA. He has lived with another dog, cat and infants to toddlers. He likes to snuggle on the couch or will lay down on the floor with his head resting on your feet.

Story
Well, it turns out we named this boy well. He has a doctorate in ball: ball fetching, ball squeaking, ball hide and go seek. Doc came to us from a local shelter when his owner didn't claim him. He weighs 60 pounds, is neutered/chipped/vaccinated and is doing really well in his foster home. He is not a barker, knows how to chill, is house trained, does well with visitors and is proving to have a super sweet personality. The outside world has many distractions and his foster is helping him learn to walk nicely on leash. If you're looking for a really nice dog with a great temperament, give some thought to this handsome guy. He is going to make some lucky family a wonderful companion.

Story
Lady Guinevere may not be royalty but she has a charm that will win you over. She has a smile that lights up a room and wears her ear tuffs like a crown. This sweet Golden Retriever is about 3 1/2 years old and could stand to lose a few pounds (hey it happens). We think she going to be a marvelous companion dog. She is dog friendly, but cats are unknown. If ear tufts are your jam this gal might be the one for you. Head to our website to learn more about the rescue and how to adopt.

Lea

Labrador Retriever

Female, 3 yrs 1 mo
Los Angeles, CA
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Good with dogs, Needs special attention, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Lea is a 3 -4 year old lab who was brought into the shelter by a good Samaritan as a stray. She was extremely thin (only 39 pounds) and mostly hopped on 3 legs, but her sweet smile let us know she was a resilient, happy girl. Although a microchip was detected, her owner never came for her. On closer medical evaluation, we learned she doesn’t use her left back leg much of the time because she is missing the entire left back paw. She is also missing some toes on her right rear paw. Nevertheless, she has adapted extremely well and doesn’t let her paw situation slow her down one bit. In fact, she bounds around her foster home with her canine foster sister, engages in spirited games of “bitey face”, loves to go on daily brisk walks, and snuggles up for cozy cuddles. Lea often walks on her left back leg if she is on soft surfaces like carpet or grass but knows to use just 3 legs on harder surfaces like pavement. Her mobility isn’t hindered, and she’s free from any pain, according to her vet. She is also now up to a healthy weight, and her soft coat just gleams. Lea is a true sweetheart with a gentle soul. She loves riding in the car, and she enthusiastically greets every dog and person (kids and adults) she meets. She learns very quickly, knows ‘sit’ and ‘stay’, is housebroken, is well behaved when her foster parents are out, and adores attention (particularly when her foster mom tries to put on her shoes in the morning. Lea did request that her adopter’s home provide Cheerios and rice cakes for snacks as those are her favorite. Special Needs: While Lea’s unique foot pad situation may benefit from a prosthesis, she has lived her whole young life this way and manages fine without one. She’s proven herself to be remarkably resilient and adaptable. Her new playmates should match her gentle nature, preferring medium, dainty play over rough and tumble activities. With her perfect house manners and natural knack for companionship, Lea is sure to bring warmth and joy to any home lucky enough to have her.
