Story
Keanu is a happy-go-lucky little dude! This sweet senior loves to play with his toys! Keanu also loves to go for walks in the neighborhood and even enjoys car rides! He follows his foster family everywhere they go. Keanu is housebroken as well. He gets along great with smaller dogs and pays no attention to the big ones when he meets them. Keanu does have a chronic condition called Spondylosis in his spine. He is on medication for this and will be for life. This doesn’t seem to slow him down but it is why we recommend a home with older children and small dogs so as to not risk injury. Keanu does great on his meds and doesn’t seem to be in pain. If you’re looking for a funny little guy to hang out with and be your best friend look no further!    July 14, 2024, 2:21 pm

Story
Ridgina, a charming Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, is ready to steal your heart and become your newest family member! Rescued from a nearby shelter where she was found as an emaciated stray in a field, Ridgina's journey has been one of resilience and hope. At approximately 4 years old, Ridgina has already shown incredible strength and spirit. Thanks to a caring foster, she has been nourished back to a healthy weight and is slowly showing more and more of her personality. Due to her her mysterious and heartbreaking past, she does need time when meeting strangers, but in given time warms up. Ridgina is a loving soul who adores cuddling with both her foster human and dog siblings and also enjoys squeaky toys. If you're ready to open your heart and home to Ridgina and give her the second chance she deserves, don't hesitate to submit an adoption application on our website: www.barksoflove.org. Your love and care could be the missing piece to Ridgina's happily ever after! Let's give Ridgina the forever home she's been dreaming of. Adopt her today!July 14, 2024, 2:21 pm

Story
Meet Squirrel, the resilient girl who was part of a trio rescued from an extreme hoarding situation at Devore Shelter months ago   &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Despite her challenging past, our incredible foster families have provided a safe haven for her to decompress. While Squirrel still grapples with anxiety, she's slowly rediscovering joy and the simple pleasures of being a dog. She finds solace in the company of other dogs and plays well with them, but human interaction remains a struggle. Although she happily accepts treats and will sit next to human friends on her terms, she's hesitant to receive pets from her fosters. We're immensely grateful to our understanding foster families, who exhibit the patience Squirrel needs to rebuild trust.    Squirrel has undergone her wellness exam, is up-to-date on vaccines, and is already spayed! Your continued support and donations towards her care are deeply appreciated.   We firmly believe there's someone out there for Squirrel, someone who understands the horrendous environment she escaped and is willing to work patiently with her through her trust and anxiety. If you're interested in meeting Squirrel, please apply for her adoption at www.barksoflove.org. Let's find Squirrel the loving home she deserves. July 14, 2024, 2:21 pm

Story
Meet Badger! Badger came to us with two friends, all of whom lived the first part of their lives in severe neglect. It was clear from the beginning that Badger took it upon himself to be the protector. So long as his two friends were near all that mattered was making sure they were okay and no one hurt them. Before long he found himself without them as they moved on to new fosters or new homes and he was faced with having to learn what it meant to be a dog. After 7 months of patience and love he has begun to blossom and appreciate the joys of what being a dog means! He loves a good toy, his daily zoomies up and down the hall, and cuddling up next to his favorite person. Treats, music, and just being by your side are his happy place. Badger still has some work to do. He does not like loud noises or sudden movement. He likes to touch you but isn’t a fan of you touching him (unless it’s to play or take a treat from your hand). He is still learning what a leash is and we have made great progress but it’ll take some time until he decides leashes are nothing to be afraid of. In a way, Badger is a lot like a cat! Kick your feet up and watch some TV and he’ll stay by your side for hours. Sprinkle in the occasional play session and he’ll be your best friend forever! Badger loves his crate, it’s where he feels safest. He enjoys the company of having other small dogs around. Bonus points if you’re a man although he isn’t too picky. We’re hoping Badger can find a patient home that is willing to go at his pace. We are confident that once he feels comfortable with you that he will shower you with 5 years of overdue love he has to give.
