Story
Beau will be 2 in February. He is a fixed German Shephard / Siberian Husky Mix. Treat Trained. Knows commands. Can be vocal around new people but acclimates fairly quickly and stays quiet. Good walker. Better as a single home dog with adults and /or older children, no cats. He currently lives with his "sister", a young female German Shepherd, but would likely thrive solo. Active pretty guy who is very gentle, loves cheese, toys, peanut butter, and belly scratches. He e is crate trained, house trained, and has multiple beds & toys we can provide. He loves walks or running in a fenced yard, and horseplay. Due to a progressing cancer diagnosis, we need to find him a loving forever home asap.

Story
We are a retired couple. We have been traveling extensively and just bought a home in Gulfport. All the traveling is hard on Chachi, he needs a place to be without moving around so much. Chachi is a loving little dog who loves to snuggle with you. He can be on his own at home. He likes his "home" kennel. He is good with people once he gets to know them, same with kids. At first he can be very nervous and barking at strangers. He is good on walks and is overjoyed to ride in the car. He is mostly good with other dogs, sometimes barks at larger black dogs. He came from Texas where he was raised by a family that could no longer keep him. We have had him three years and we do love him, but think he needs a more stable home life. Not so much traveling around.

Story
Luna is a 4 yr old, 54# hound that came to us from a Reservation. She is calm, gentle, sweet, and shows her affection by giving you little kisses. She is housebroken - doesn’t ask to go out, but is put out 4 times/day; first thing in the morning, just before bedtime, and a couple times in between. Luna is so well behaved that she doesn’t need to be kenneled when left. A kennel is in the foster’s bedroom, and the door left open – at night, she will either sleep in bed with her foster mom or will go into the kennel on her own. Luna is very easy to have around, except for her prey drive (especially for rabbits – I wouldn't doubt she had to hunt for her own food on the Reservation, and she became quite skilled at it). Luna's best match might be someone that didn't go for walks, but perhaps went to the dog park or just exercised her in a fenced yard. If you are walking her, and she sees a bunny, or other critter, she goes after it. Now the foster keeps her on a long lead even when she goes out into the fenced yard (if you had a 5 ft fence or higher, you wouldn't need to keep her on a lead). Luna likes attention, but is not a pest. She knows the “sit” command and comes when called. No interest in toys; does play with the younger foster pup in the house. Luna would be fine as an only dog, or could be paired with another canine. Fine riding in the car – stayed in the back seat. We haven’t seen her interact with kids, but expect she would be good with kids 8 yr and up……….they should not have an expectation of play or walking her. Luna is quiet – seldom barks. She has been spayed, and is current on distemper and rabies vaccinations. The heartworm test and tick profiles are negative. Her microchip is registered to Second Chance. Luna has a $375 adoption fee. Call 651-771-5662 if you would like to meet her.

Story
Chase is a 7.5 yr old male black lab, shepherd, husky mix with blue eyes- he's a big guy at 86#, and this is his ideal weight. He previously lived with people that were happy to have him in the family, but didn't really spend any time with obedience training - Chase knows his name but no commands. The foster is teaching him to sit for a treat. He is also learning leash manners - still tends to pull if he wants to check something out. He enjoys time outside, and being part husky, he will vocalize to you when he wants to go out. Actually, he also does that when he wants treats and pets......you just have to figure out which one he wants. Because he can get over a 4 ft. high fence, Chase needs a 5 ft fenced enclosure so he can safely be outside for extended periods, or he will need to be on a tieout. Chase enjoys walks, and will chase after small critters in the yard. There are 2 felines in his foster home and he ignores them. He is almost indifferent to the other dog in his foster home, and would be perfectly content to be the "only dog". He enjoys chewing on bones (tends to bury them when he is done chewing) and on rope toys; some interest in balls, but not in retrieving them. Chase likes some attention from his people, especially pets and belly rubs - he's a dog that will sit close to you, but not necessarily snuggle. Well behaved indoors, and has free run of the house when left - thus far he's been left for about 4 hrs. but the foster expects he would be fine up to 8 hrs. Chase is housebroken, and will come over to you, "talk", and walk to the door when he needs to go out. He sheds seasonally, and will need brushing in the spring to remove the winter undercoat he develops. I don't know if he has ever lived with children - Chase is a mature dog, and not interested in playing. Chase is neutered and current on distemper and rabies vaccinations. His microchip is registered to Second Chance. Chase has a $275 adoption fee. If you are interested in meeting him, call 651-771-5662.
