Yuki

Husky Husky

Female, 4 yrs 1 mo
Blaine, MN
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Not good with cats, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Name: Yuki Sex: Female Color: Isabella White Eye Color: Brown Birthday: 11/15/20 Weight: 40 Large Dog Friendly: Yes, she does really well with all the dogs she meets at the dog park. At home she tends to get nervous with other dogs when they are too hyper or wild. Small Dog Friendly: Unknown Cat Friendly: No Crate Trained: At this time, no, as she is not used to being in a crate. Appears to have some separation anxiety and will need work to get crate trained. Housebroken: Yes Energy Level: She is typically very calm, but does get zoomies and likes to run around. She would do best in a home where she can relax, cuddle and get all the belly rubs! She also loves walks, and regular runs in a fenced in yard/area Reaction to New People: She is shy at first, but warms up quickly and loves pets. Needs to work on socialization with new people and situations Kid Friendly: Older and calmer would be best for her, as young kids and their noises and quick movements make her nervous. Training: She knows the basics, but could use some better leash manners as she likes to jump around and go all husky when asked to go potty. She needs socialization to learn some confidence in new/public situations. Like most huskies, she is a runner, so caution by the doors and getting in and out of the car is needed. Fence: Currently she goes out on a leash to go potty and then back in, as she does not appear to like the cold as much as a lot of huskies. She does respect the fence at a dog park, but at home would need to be on a tie out or supervised as she will dig under or try to climb out. Solo or Siblings: She would love to be the lone center of human attention, but could also like a sibling to play with, depending on the dog as she can be picky about her playmates and if they are too hyper she can be nervous. From the Foster: Yuki is a furry little princess that loves all the attention. She is overall pretty calm, but also has her husky zoomies. Since a small pup, she has always been a bit shy and hesitant in unknown situations/people and needs to build her confidence, but she does love to explore, and would benefit from socialization and group training class. Like a typical husky, she loves to run, climb, jump etc, so may also benefit from joring or agility classes. She is tolerant of baths, but is scared of water otherwise, and will tip-toe through wet grass. She loves attention and belly rubs, and will lay on her back and paw at you or reach out to you for more if you stop. She is an all around adventurous, loving, curious and goofy girl who needs a best friend to cuddle, experience life with, and to help her overcome her nervousness/fear of the world. Adoption Fee: $50 - Submit an adoption before Valentines Day and upon approval Yuki will be available at the reduced adoption fee. All dogs coming into Adopt a Husky Minnesota receive care tailored to their needs, including: Nose-to-tail exam with a partner veterinarian, Vaccinations (Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella), 4DX test to check for heartworm or tick exposure, Fecal Analysis, Heartworm and Flea/Tick Preventative, Spay/Neuter prior to adoption, Microchip, and are evaluated for temperament and trainability.

Story
Name: Teddy Color: Red & White Eye Color: Blue Birthday: 09-24-2021 (estimated) Weight: 60 Large dog friendly: Yes, prefers females. Can be selective meeting dogs on leash. Small dog friendly: No Cat friendly: No, strong prey drive Crate trained: Yes, but does whine, pace and bark. He had a history of soiling his kennel too. We are using a prescribed medication (prosac) to help ease his anxiety and have seen amazing results. It's an inexpensive med, costing just $8 for a sixty day supply. He has complete free roam of the house when home alone now. Has never been destructive. House-trained: Yes Energy level: Medium Reaction to new people: Friendly Kid friendly: Loves kids Training: Knows sit, paw, lay-down Normal husky coat which will require regular brushing. You should aim for once a week or so, and more when he is blowing his coat, typically twice a year. Fence: Strong tie-out recommended. He is an escape artist (can climb fences, and flip up gate latches) Solo or siblings: Requires a sibling, was adopted as a solo dog and was anxious, Just wasn't the right environment for him. From the foster: Need a snuggle buddy? Teddy is the one to keep you cozy at night and "aaaoooohhh" sweet nothings. Teddy gets along best with female dogs, and will take redirection well from dogs and humans. He tends to jump when greeting people and likes to counter surf. Teddy paces to let you know when he needs to go out. He enjoys walking nicely on the leash (not pulling too hard), followed by cuddles on the couch with his foster and the kids, nudging them for pets. Teddy does have some separation anxiety when home alone. Shared walls/apartment living would not be a good fit as he can be noisy at times, he is getting better and many times will go lay in his crate by choice when we are home. He recently started having free roam and has been doing really good! He is by far one of the sweetest and lovable huskies you'll ever meet. Adoption Fee: $50 - Submit an adoption application before Valentines Day and upon approval Teddy will be available at the reduced adoption fee.

Story
Name: Lobo Sex: Male Color: Black & White Eye Color: Blue Birthday: 01/31/21 Weight: 46 lbs Large Dog Friendly: Needs slow and controlled introductions Small Dog Friendly: Probably not Cat Friendly: No Crate Trained: Yes, needs a little encouragement, sleeps and naps there fine, crates when foster family is away from the house. Housebroken: Yes, but will poop in the house if he isn't given enough time to find a spot outside. Is fairly regular and gives cues when he needs to go (walks/sniffs differently). Energy Level: High energy but he naps hard when tired out. To get there we've taken him on 2 mile walks, fetch after shorter walks on the zip line, tug of war inside. When tired, he'll start to act up; just like a toddler, he doesn't know he needs to nap yet. We work at home and he naps in our office between walks. Reaction to New People: Excited, curious. He is still working on jumping and being mouthy when he is excited to see someone. Kid Friendly: 12+ Lobo gets excited by younger kids and he will run after, mouth/soft bite their elbows/arms. We are working with Lobo on this, but for now he does better around older, dog-savvy kids. Training: Quick learner! Sits if he's going to get something: go outside, a treat, a toy, etc. Has learned shake, starting to lay, learning 'leave it' on walks, learning 'close' on walks for loose leash with both a collar and gentle leader. Grooming Needs: Lobo has a typical husky coat that will require regular, thorough grooming. We recommend at least once per week, and more when he is blowing his coat (about twice per year). Fence: Lobo is doing well on a tie-out and respects baby gates in the house. He would likely do well with a securely fenced-in yard. Solo or Siblings: Lobo lived with another dog in a previous home. He may do well with appropriate introductions or could be your one and only! From the Foster: Lobo is a great boy, who is still working on a couple of things. He pulls on walks and gets excited by squirrels, rabbits, birds, and other dogs. He learns really quick and has made huge strides so far, but we are continuing to fine tune his training. He is a great running partner, pulling for up to 1.5 miles and then running alongside me for 1.5 miles. I believe he will be able to go further with continued workouts and could be a good candidate for dog sports. He can be silly and likes to play. He's protective of long-lasting snacks like a bone or filled Kong, and he counter surfs, so any opportunities to get at unsupervised food should be carefully managed. After a few weeks of settling in, I see Lobo learning the rules through training and routine. Lobo would do best with a strong experienced leader that is willing to continue his training. He will make a great partner for an active family who is ready to set him up for success! Adoption Fee: $50 - Submit an adoption application before Valentines Day and upon approval Lobo will be available at the reduced adoption fee. Story
Name: Keeva Sex: Female Color: Black & White Eye Color: Blue Birthday: 02/26/24 Weight: 40 lbs Large Dog Friendly: Yes Small Dog Friendly: Yes Cat Friendly: Unknown Crate Trained: Yes Housebroken: Yes Energy Level: High Reaction to New People: Keeva is still working on learning to like new people. She will run and hide or bark at people she does not know. She is not aggressive just fearful. Kid Friendly: Yes Training: Knows sit and No Grooming Needs: Shorter coat that is easy to keep clean and brush Fence: Would be best. She does use a tie out for potty and does well on that while supervised Solo or Siblings: She would do better with another dog. She watches her foster brother for his reaction to new things and guidance. She loves to play husky style so will need a tolerant pup. Sometimes she does not take the other dogs signal for stop and will continue to pester. Not mean, just playful From the Foster: Keeva was astray that came from Animal Control so nothing is known about her past. She still is very shy with new people and runs away to hide when she feels scared. Her foster mom has been working with her and doing slow meet and greets with treats. She loves treats so she is very interested in getting one of those. She only took a day to feel comfortable at her new foster home. She is young so there is time to teach her that people are good. She is very active. A typical young husky that likes to find things and put them in her mouth. Her new home will have to be very puppy proof so that she doesn't get in trouble. Keeva is so loving. Once she has had exercise she loves to lay by her foster mom and cuddle. She has the cutest husky curl ever. Being so little she walks easy on leash but is again afraid of a lot of activity or noise and will try and retreat. She has done well with all dogs she has met, she loves dog friends. She can be a little pest for older dogs but she is not mean. Her foster family says she is just full of joy! Adoption Fee: $450 All dogs coming into Adopt a Husky Minnesota receive care tailored to their needs, including: Nose-to-tail exam with a partner veterinarian, Vaccinations (Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella), 4DX test to check for heartworm or tick exposure, Fecal Analysis, Heartworm and Flea/Tick Preventative, Spay/Neuter prior to adoption, Microchip, and are evaluated for temperament and trainability.

Story
Zed is a 3-year-old Pomsky (a mix of Siberian Husky and Pomeranian) with a calm and relaxed personality. At 25 lbs, he’s the perfect medium-sized companion who loves to play but also knows how to unwind. Zed has a darker black, gray, and white coat with blue eyes. Zed has been an incredible part of our lives, but it breaks our hearts to see him unhappy due to our inability to give him the attention he deserves. With increased demands on our time from work, we’ve decided to find Zed a new home where he can thrive and live his best life. One of Zed’s favorite activities is playing fetch—he’ll happily chase a ball and bring it back, making him the perfect partner for anyone who enjoys active play. He’s very smart and knows commands like sit, paw, high five, and go down. He is great with children and gets along well with other dogs. Lastly, Zed has a littermate, Jax, who is also up for rehoming: https://www.adoptapet.com/pet/43193460-brooklyn-park-minnesota-pomsky-mix
