Story
Nina is waiting patiently for her happily ever after. Could you be the one to give her a forever home?   Nina is 4 years old and looks to be a hound/lab mix, although her exact breed(s) are not known. She is fully grown at 50 lbs and 22” in height to her shoulders.  Nina was rescued with her two puppies, living amongst bushes and garbage on the streets of Mexico. Both of her pups have been adopted but Nina has been waiting over a year for a family of her own. Bigger dogs tend to get overlooked BUT keep reading to hear all about Nina and her loveliness.   Nina is with our incredible rescue partner in Guadalajara, which means she will arrive to Canada with a solid foundation of socialization and training. Before joining her forever family, Nina is working with a certified trainer to learn obedience and even some fun tricks! She is very receptive to training and she’d love to be with a family who will continue to build on her learning.  Nina currently lives with a foster family in Guadalajara so she’s accustomed to the home environment and is fully house trained. She also knows how to walk well on the leash and is crate trained. Nina shares her foster home with other doggies and enjoys the company of medium-large size dogs (rather than small dogs or puppies). She does not guard her food or toys and she’s not much of a barker. Nina’s personality is full of joy and curiosity for life. She likes her daily walks and exploring the outdoors, but she’s a calm dog who is happy to relax at home when you’re having a lazy day. Nina goes with the flow of her family and is content to be where her people are.  Nina’s very favourite thing on earth is the company of humans. She’s a total “people dog” - loyal, loving, and friendly. Nina loves to be shown affection and give affection in return. She’s the type of dog who will become your devoted best friend in no time!  Nina doesn’t have experience with cats but she does show interest in chasing squirrels and small critters. Given this, a home without kitties would be best. For those applying to adopt Nina, we will send updates and videos of her training progress in Mexico. You’ll see her beautiful personality and eagerness to please. We’re sure you will fall in love with her! VETTING:  Fully vaccinated Spayed Dewormed  SNAP 4Dx negative (Heartworm, Lyme disease, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasma) Distemper negative Flea/tick/heartworm prevention No known medical issues   **PLEASE NOTE: Nina is currently in Mexico with her fosters. There will be a $235 fee for transportation to BC. This will be discussed upon approval.**   ##1912254##

Story
Meet Brisa - fostered in Chilliwack and ready to meet you in person! Brisa is a sleek and stunning Labrador Retriever mix. She is approx 1½ years old and fully grown at 40 lbs. Brisa was rescued in Guadalajara, Mexico, and flew to BC in June for her fresh start.  UPDATE FROM FOSTER: Brisa is a beautiful soul - gentle, sweet, mild-mannered and extremely "low maintenance". She is settling in well in our household of 5 dogs, 2 cats and farm animals. She's very comfortable in the home, fully potty trained, and gets along wonderfully with our other dogs. When she is left alone for a few hours, she does not have any accidents and is never destructive. She's not a vocal dog, we've hardly heard her bark at all, even when the other dogs are barking. Brisa is a pefect "sit and chill" dog!  Brisa is still adjusting to her new life since her journey from Mexico. It's taken her a bit more time to decompress and get comfortable with her new world in Canada. She is quite timid and responds best to a gentle, reassuring approach. Brisa gets nervous when taken to new areas, particularly areas that are busy and noisy. We only take her outside on a lead as we feel she might bolt if she becomes afraid or spooked by something. Brisa needs someone who understands that she's had much trauma and this manifests as fearfulness in stimulating environments. However, she very much enjoys outdoor time in quiet, calm spaces. She is good with cats and other dogs, and she would benefit from having a furry companion since she loves being part of a pack. Brisa would do well in a home with a fenced yard where she isn't required to go for long walks or interact with many strangers, however it is amazing what the right home can do for any dog. She will thrive in a calm, peaceful household and a quiet neighborhood. When you see her open up her heart and her sweet personality comes out, it's the most rewarding, heartwarming feeling! Brisa is being fostered in Chilliwack. She is available for meet and greets! VETTING: Fully vaccinated. Spayed Dewormed. SNAP 4Dx negative (Heartworm, Lyme disease, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasma). Distemper negative. Flea/tick/heartworm prevention. No known medical issues or injuries.   ##2063847##

Story
Meet adoptable Karina! She is fostered in the lower mainland, ready for meet-and- greets!  Karina is a young Labrador Retriever/Shepherd mix. She is 1.5 years old and weighs approx 45 lbs, fully grown.  Karina arrived into our care on June 14th and is being fostered in Vancouver. She was rescued from the streets of Guadalajara and stayed at a rescue shelter where she awaited adoption. Sadly, her size and colouring worked against her in the search for a family because black dogs are often overlooked in favour of lighter coloured dogs. Despite her past struggles living on the streets of Mexico, Karina is a sweetheart through and through. Karina has kind, gentle nature  and a deeply loving heart. All she wants is to feel safe and cared for. Karina is shy initially with new people, needing time to make sure she's in safe hands. But once she gets to know you, her beautiful personality shines. Karina gets along with adults, kids, and dogs of all sizes. At her current foster home, she lives with many other doggies and very much enjoys their company. She would thrive with a canine sibling in her future home. Karina also enjoys going to doggy daycare when her fosters are away for the day. She runs and plays the day away with her furry pals! In terms of her energy level, Karina is a fun-loving girl who looks forward to her walks, running around the dog park, and playing fetch. She's incredibly good at catching the ball when you throw it! Karina's foster mom describes her as an awesome dog with a heart of gold. Although shy and cautious initially, Karina has settled wonderfully in her new surroundings. She has become "one of the pack" with the resident dogs and loves to runs and play with her pals. Karina's foster mom agrees that she would be a perfect second or third dog for a family because she loves the company of fur siblings.  Karina is more than ready for her FURever family. She's dreaming of a home to call her own, where she will be surrounded by love and affection for the rest of her life. If you're interested in adopting Karina, meet-and-greets can be arranged! VETTING: Fully vaccinated. Spayed Dewormed. SNAP 4Dx negative (Heartworm, Lyme disease, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasma). Flea/tick/heartworm prevention. No known medical issues or injuries. PLEASE NOTE: Karina is currently fostered in Vancouver. In-person meetings can be arranged.   ##2063851##
